Girl power!! Very few female pianists can actually play the original 1838 version because of their hand size, but you were able to make adjustments and play it your own way! That was pretty cool!

@@chrisbenna506 Definitely NOT true. You should listen to Valentina Lisitsa's performance on Liszt's "El Contrabandista", which she nicknamed La Campanella on Steroids. That one is AT LEAST as hard as these etudes, if not harder, and she manages to play it slightly faster than the written tempo marking. Of course, she is also able to play "La Campanella" at a much faster speed than written, too, so I personally am not surprised by this.

I'm an advanced pianist, yes, but this video shows true virtuosity, something I still have a long way to go before I obtain. There's a reason there are many videos of La Campanella on RUclips and only a few of this Étude.
@@Murcielag0scuro these kinds of comments are usually written by beginners who play fur Elise or something, and comment about how much virtuosity the much harder pieces require and how many more years they will have to work to get there. In your case you can already play la campanella which itself is already at the top level of difficulty. Youre already better than 99% of people who play the piano. There is a word for your type of comments "humble bragging".
This and the fourth one, are two nice etudes that have been ruined by people calling them "impossible at tempo" Just to let everyone know, roikelli just made the Etudes much faster for literally no reason. The correct tempo of the 4th etude is 60 BPM. Besides, even at roikelli's tempo it's not impossible to play. Please leave the poor etudes alone. If you really want to see an impossible to play piece, check out Amedee Mereaux's op 63 no 45 etude. It has never been played at the composer's tempo.
Playing demisemiquavers at andante quasi allegretto for 4b. is still faster than any of the recordings. And the tempo in the midi is actually impossible to play. And I believe only the 4th étude's midi might be sped up(it's more like it's taking the mid-upper boundaries of andante quasi allegretto, so it's not necessarily sped up either).
@@dhruvsawant9234 liszt's transcriptions of paganini caprice 24 was much closer to the original in the 1838 version, and the 24th caprice is 3rds then 10ths on the 2nd time through. In liszt's later version, he doesn't even have a repeat, and changes the second time through from 10ths to octaves, so he meant to have 3rds and then tenths. If the later version didn't exist, I could see the argument, but its pretty clear what he intended since we have the later version explicitly stating it.
This is not transcendental, This is the first version of Douze Grandes Etude. (Also known as 'Etudes d'execution transcendante d'apres paganini s. 140')
You're mistaken. The Douze Grande Études are the versions of the Transcendental Etudes (Etudes D'execution Transcendante) after the Etude en Douze Exercices.

At the same time there are pianists who are better then I am like Valentina LIsitsa or Sokolov. I do not play Mozart since I do not understand his music. I can play the notes but it doesn't mean anything. I like jazzmusic but I can't play it because I do not understand how to play it. Of course sometimes I try to play music out of my league but in my studio and only for my ears. In my opinion my performance on that kind of music is not good enough so I won't bother people with it. I can play this piece of Liszt since I focused on it for about 3 to 4 years to understand and I know a lot about Listz's personal live by reading his correspondence and diary. I think Mrs. Tomellini shouldn't play Liszt because the mechanical tecniques still take too much effort from her prior to create music.

I started learning at 15 and I am wrapping up Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2 now at age 17, so it's doable. This is my next piece. I should have an easier time than Elisa learning it because I can reach a 12th, so wish me luck. This is extremely difficult.
NOTE: A YEAR if my learning was technique for Hungarian Rhapsody. I have Asperger's, so it depends on what mood I'm in (I'm musically gifted as a result). I usually go for 2 hours 5 days a week and 1 hour on Sundays. I practice on a Baldwin 9 foot concert grand piano, and own an 1883 Mason and Hamlin upright, one of the very first ones ever made (85 key, serial #323). Also grew up in a musical family and have perfect pitch.
