    Just opened the box today and ripped some vinyl fence parts.....really satisfied with the saw..with that being said the assembly and use instructions are really BAD...I live in NJ..never met and don't know Real Tool Review Guy...but Rockwell..you should be sending him a check or offering him a job..I you tubed the saw and he really made a great demo and clarification of the tool use...without him I'd be wasting a ton of time figuring it out... and getting disgusted wasting time..I also own a Rockwell 4 1/2 inch circular saw and it's absolutely one of my most used and favorite tools..if customers don't feel comfortable with the products capabilities they won't buy more Rockwell products! Awesome real job tool review guy!

      How close can you get with the rip fence, I need to cut a piece of trim outside edge molding down to a 1/4 inch on one side.

    I so needed this video as I have the "man skills" of a 9 year old girl. I also remained terrified watching his hand so close to the blade without gloves. That said, I feel ready to tackle a DIY project. Thank you!

      Glad you feel more confident, but please don't wear gloves when using these kind of power tools. They can get caught and drag your hand in turning a minor injury into a trip to the emergency room. If you are uncomfortable having your fingers close to the blade you can make or buy a push stick.

    I think what impressed me the most is that it didn't move around while you were cutting. It looks so light weight that I thought for sure the unit would start to skate once you began cutting. Great review and demonstration.

    • @RealToolReviews
      @RealToolReviews  10 лет назад +2

      Mike L. Yeah it doesnt "walk around" on you while cutting, but I would suggest bolting the base or even using long screws to attach it to a surface for the absolute minimum vibrations & best cut.

      Great video - I just subscribed! Thank you so much for SHOWING us how to use the Bladerunner instead of me trying to figure it out on my own! Are you saying I should permanently attach the Bladerunner to a piece of plywood (or something else?) for extra stability?

    • @Kkuts37
      @Kkuts37 6 лет назад

      Hmmm...My saw "walked around" so much the yellow power safety switch shook out. IMO, the "fence" is a joke. That being said, I bolted down and the "walking" it is better. I would not recommend this upside down mounted jigsaw. :(

    Making a porch swing, and my jigsaws are old as dirt, so I went out and bought this Bladerunner X 2, at first I was frustrated, no written directions only pictures.. then I hooked it up and started running it and I was immediately ready to take it back because the wood kept jumping and vibrating really bad.. But then a light bulb came on and I noticed the front part of the arm was not down flat, it was resting on the wood in a angle..... once I put it down flat it was wonderful!!. I LOVE IT!!!
    I bought the last one Lowes had in stock so apparently there are others who liked this to..
    As for this Bladerunner X 2 I give it a A+ (as for the directions, they are severely lacking ),
    I hope others will find your video as well, so they can enjoy their saw the right way!
    Thanks so much for taking the time to make this video! Great Job!

    Excellent video, I've been contemplating the purchase of mini table saw, mini cut off saw, or scroll saw, I saw the Rockwell Bladerunner online, yours is the first video I looked at and:
    1. You answered all the questions, and potential questions.
    2. You showed everything it comes with, explained each feature, and gave working demonstrations of the capabilities of the unit including arm removal which potentially makes it more flexible than a standard scroll saw.
    In conclusion, for the hobby work I'm looking to do, this saw should meet and exceed my requirements. Thank you for a no nonsense, thorough review, and demonstration of the Rockwell Bladerunner.

    I was searching for a small, hobby table top saw to make SQUARE cuts in 1/4" plywood for craft items that I have started making. I live in Canada, so went to my local Canadian Tire store today to see what they had for a small size table saw. I saw this Rockwell BladeRunner X2, bought it, but haven't opened the box yet (will do tomorrow). Then I saw this video and the review that you did on this product, and it just blew me away... never imagined that it was this versatile. Can't wait to give it my first workout tomorrow morning. Is the distance between the bearings adjustable in this model? I played around with the first model and didn't like it. The bearings in the guide arm didn't even touch the blade causing blade wander. And you could not adjust it. It would be nice to be able to adjust the distance between the bearings.

  • @ramivalencia

    I just bought one and I'm trying to cut a 16"x48" piece of 1/8" thich plexiglass. So far, the cut starts just fine, but then it curves inwards. It's a bit hard keeping the piece of flexing plastic straight, but the cut looks clean. I'll have to practice a bit more and I'm sure I'll get a perfectly straight cut. One negative aspect is the noise. It's a loud saw, but it's acceptable for the price.

    • @ramivalencia
      @ramivalencia 6 лет назад

      I was able to fix the curved cut trace issue. I noticed that the head support that keeps the item to be cut from vibrating was pressing into the blade. So, the blade was leaning towards the right side. I pushed and straightened out the issue by very slightly bending the thin aluminum arm. Now the blade stands straight and untouched. I just finished cutting 4 pieces of plexiglass with 1.125"x48" dimensions and the cuts were very straight and smooth. Instead of using the 16"x48" piece to cut into 1.125"x48" rectangles, I cut the original piece into two 8"x48" sections and that made things easier. So, now I'm very happy with my purchase. This little saw does exactly what I needed it to do. I'm using one of the "fine wood" blades that come with the saw. It does a good job, but I plan to try the others to see if they provide even better results.

      +Bob Marioni Thanks Bob! I am glad you liked it.....I completely agree on better blades --- I upgrade just about everything (table saws, miter saws, jig saws, etc) right out of the box anymore & get much better performance and cut quality the whole way around. The other thing that really helps lower vibrations on this is to screw it down to a sheet of plywood or workbench....then it runs very smooth. Thanks for the update!

    I was glad to get one of the original blade runners which meanwhile have been discontinued due to a following new model. They´re sold in Germany under the Worx brand, the original one is called wx570, the new one - shown in the video - wx572. In comparison I suppose the older model to be the better one. The new model has no speed adjust any longer which is quite useful for steel and tile cuts and has the basement of the upper part "in line" to the cutting blade so it is a little bit easier to handle long straight cuts but is more limited in doing typical scroll saw work because the space between blade and upper arm basement is shorter. Of course You can remove the complete upper part but I regularly face the problem that the blades tend to slip aside and therefore produce slight angle cuts according to the specific wood grain. Overall a good saw for the home worker. Heavier tasks should nevertheless be made with professional jigsaws as the bosch blue line 150 CE or a band saw or angle cuts and thick material with a standard table disc saw.

    just returned my Bladerunner to the store this evening because I was also having the drifting blade problem however I did not have any problems when I use the rip fence it was only during the miter gauge crosscut that I had an issue. watching your video I think I have figured out what the issue is I noticed when you were running the pipe through the blade using the miter gauge that you were also holding the other end of the pipe as well as holding the in that was on the miter gauge this would have course stabilized material and most likely have kept any blade drift from happening. I would suspect that if I ordered the sliding table and put some non slip strips on it that the problem with most likely completely disappear. I believe that it is the vibration that is causing the material to drift and causing the blade to move during cutting without one realizing it. having come across this epiphany I reordered the Bladerunner X2 along with the Crosscut sled and a nice Blade Set just a few minutes ago. I am going to try out my theories when it gets here but I am almost positive that this is what is going on positive feedback is so much higher than the negative feedback. I will let you know my results and thank you so much for this awesome video it was an eye-opener.

    • @RealToolReviews

      Sweet....glad to help. Yes, vibrations really hurt cut quality.....I also suggest that you use a couple long (3") drywall screws with washers to hold it securely to a workbench on sheet of plywood. I got a lot better cuts & a LOT less vibrations when using it that way. Also, the blades are regular t-shank jigsaw blades.....you should look at the Bosch branded ones at Lowes or Home Depot....they are good quality for the money.

    • @johnsilvers3192
      @johnsilvers3192 8 лет назад +1

      I actually did order the Bosch blades. I kind of feel stupid for returning it because I liked it so much up until I came across that problem but now that I've read all the reviews and realize just how much vibration I was getting without supporting the material on the other side there is no way in the world I would not be getting blade drift. Unfortunately that was the last one the store had so I had to order this next one but that's okay I got the sled table along with it something tells me from here on out it won't be a problem I was loving the tool up until then

      @johnsilvers3192 8 лет назад

      +Real Tool Reviews I do apologize for the many questions but I really do appreciate your answers I just want to make sure that I mount it up right. so essentially you used 3 inch drywall screws some washers obviously to stop the screws from going through the mounting holes amounted to a piece of plywood which in turn could then be clamped onto a portable work bench?

    Really like your reviews, but I had terrible results with my Bladerunner X2 when using the fence. I don't know how you were able to keep the blade from walking left or right of center, but unless I free-hand all of my cuts, using the fence only caused binding; mine had terrible "blade drift" no matter how I aligned the fence. Funny thing is, my cheap Ryobi bandsaw, same price, will cut a straight line with no drift using a simple carpenter's square. Looking forward to your future reviews.

    • @rockwelltools
      @rockwelltools 8 лет назад +1

      +FuriousFilipino I'm sorry you're having drifting issues with the BladeRunner X2. When you set the fence does it move while you're cutting? Is everything locked in place tightly before you start? I just trying to feel out the issue.

    • @FuriousFilipino
      @FuriousFilipino 8 лет назад

      +Rockwell Tools the fence was locked down tight. I even used an Engineer's square to make sure the fence was equidistant all the way around. After several disappointing cuts, I figured I can cant the fence to account for the blade drift, but all that did was make the blade bind. I was cutting 1/4" MDF, 1/4" Lexan, and 16 gauge aluminum sheet, with the best Bosch blades for each material. Free-hand cuts gave me the best results even on 4' long rips, with only a 1/64"-1/32" deviation from parallel-I could compensate for the blade drift visually. However, using the fence and to some degree, the miter guide, gave lackluster results that I wouldn't even consider passable for rough framing. I've been debating returning this machine, but the options for metal cutting with reasonable accuracy don't exist at this price rang. It would just be nice to be able to rely on the fence and miter guide to speed up the work process.

I have been collecting them, and I want to make some furniture for Barbie and other types of dolls. This tool was recommended to me, and I was wondering if you would have any recommendations on whether I could use this in a utility room inside my home, and whether I will need additional items to make it work efficiently? I noticed several mentions of the blade slipping because of vibrations - would it be best to buy a small workbench to attach it to? Also, what about dust? Should I buy a shop vac as well, in order not to spread too much dust around in the house?

    Great video! What type of blade did you use to cut the plank flooring? I am Installing Lifeproof Luxury vinyl plank in my kitchen and used a oscillating tool when I did my bathroom but was not the best tool, so I will be ordering one of these baby’s!

    Great video! I just got this today.. learned a lot from the video. Quick question - what type of blade should I use for cutting vinyl plank wood flooring? Can I still use the wood cutting blade even though they are vinyl planks?

    Bought one of these because of your video! Great demonstation; thank you! The info that comes with the saw is sadly lacking. Saw a video about a circle cutting jig and a picture frame making jig for the original Bladerunner. I don't see any accessories listed on the Rockwell site like those for the X2. Have any idea if they exist?

    Nice saw, but will it cut porcelin tile as well, Im also curious to know if the blade causes any chipping on the face of the tile. I do like the compact size, and shop-vac attachment. Im looking for a compact tile saw, but I see this has no area to put water, so no wet saw capability. Thanks for the video, I watch all your reviews, very informative. Thank You.

      +Tommy Foster I couldnt get it to cut it, but then again I was not using specialized blades....with normal ceramic tile blades it wont scratch the porcelin tiles. I would suggest a tile saw, this is more-so for the DIYer that is looking for a saw in between a jigsaw & circular saw. I am glad you like the reviews! Thanks for watching!

    I have worked as a Tool and Die Maker and a Design Engineer. I like this jigsaw application for its variety and convenience of use. The instructions Booklet is misleading and inaccurate and needs to be replaced. I still do not know what is the maximum dimension of the dia or the Maximum thickness of the material being cut.

    Hi, I make wood sign and I’m wanting to cut out letters like home to put on my sign . Would this X2 do the job ? Or should I look for a scroll saw ? Hope to hear from you .. thank you nice job explaining it..

    moon shape had a flat spot, and that tile also had a little niche in it.. I saw that. ;)

    • @RealToolReviews
      @RealToolReviews  10 лет назад +1

      David G The moon actually was supposed to have a flat spot, since we used two identical sections to make a photo-prop with....that way it would sit flat on the ground and not rock. I'm not sure about the tile....it was just a quick test cut to see if it would do it....I am sure I could have done a better job if I was not trying to position myself for the camera.

    Hey there, thanks to your video, I ended up getting this vs a bandsaw in the same price range. Even though I can't cut as thick as a bandsaw can it makes up for it in the quickness of changing blade.
    One question though... Do you find it to vibrate very bad? If so, how did you deal with this? Please let me know. Thanks .

    • @RealToolReviews

      I screwed mine to a piece of plywood with 2 drywall screws with washers on them & the vibrations went down 80%.

    I'm brand new at this DIY stuff and just bought this BladeRunner. How do you cut the middle of a piece of wood. For instance, I'm cutting the letter P, how do I get the inner 'hole' of the P out? Also, how do I cut a 90 degree corner? I'm assuming I have to reposition my wood?

    • @RealToolReviews
      @RealToolReviews  9 лет назад

      Tyeler Potter Tyeler - the first thing you need to do is drill a hole in the part you want to remove, that way you then can make a series of cuts in that material to follow your lines & remove it from the center of the board (drill a hole & place the wood over the blade with the blade sticking through the hole).

    How does this compare to original one? I have the original Bladerunner and seen these new X2s at Lowes. Yes I know about the dedicated Rip Fence and dust port, but is seems more flimsy than the original, The lighter new one scares me as does not seem to be as "beefy'" how does the motor compare to the original?

    Are there carbide blades available for this saw? This looks like a good tool for cutting laminate flooring. However, I've found that when using my old table saw a regular blade wears way too quickly. I imagine that would hold true for a regular jigsaw blade also.

    • @RealToolReviews
      @RealToolReviews  9 лет назад

      +Sam G I am not sure.....it uses standard jigsaw blades, so that would be the limitation.

    Someone may have already asked you this, I'm planning on getting one but I haven't seen it yet. I was wondering if there was any way to mount the unit to a stand, either home made or store bought? Any sort of bolt holes or adjustable feet that I could take advantage of would be fine, I can bolt, clamp, glue and screw from there :)

    • @RealToolReviews
      @RealToolReviews  7 лет назад +1

      You can screw it down to a workbench or piece of plywood very easily......just takes 2 long screws + 2 large washers......there is a hole on the left & right hand side that you can use. The vibrations will decrease significantly & the cut quality is vastly improved. Good luck!

      Svitlana/ You could use a Dremel Saw-Max,or the Dremel Moto-Saw. Each cost around $80 usd where I live. I don't think you can get much smaller unless you go with a hand saw/miter box for around $20/30 usd. Happy framing! :)

    My wife makes crafts and wants to cut books into triangular shapes for one of her projects. The books would be 1"± tick. How would this saw work cutting books? If it would work, which blade would be best?
