- Check out this tiny table Saul replacement. It can do jigsaw cuts, tablesaw cuts, scroll saw cuts, and miter saw cuts. All in this tiny portable package. The Blade Runner X2 by Rockwell.

*This is my second WEN tool and they are both great **MyBest.Tools** I needed to do some trim work around the house and needed a scroll saw for the intricate work. No complaints so far.*
A couple of issues could be easily solved:
1) Don't adjust the head and the arm to sit snugly on the item at the same time. Adjust the arm forward first, so it's completely down and then lock. Then adjust the head up or down depending on how high you need it and then lock.
2) You can totally remove the arm and then use the X2 as an upsidedown jigsaw to get all the room you need to cut curves from large objects.

I have one and it's great for small projects. I bolted mine to the workbench, otherwise it slides around too much. And you're right, it's great for when you need to make a bunch of weird cuts to custom fit something.

@@EveryDayJay415 Heya, i used it to rip down some cedar boards I got out of a dumpster. I made a planter box. I do plan on making some wooden shelf brackets and I think it would be adequate to do that kind of scroll work.

It's fantastic for the jobs I do around my house. Of course some jobs need different saws and tools.. But for what I do. This is so fantastic and portable.. It also is less scary for newbies.. This saw gave me the confidence to try other saws...
Pretty sure a utility knife would open that box a lot faster lol but cool toy to open a box with

It’s a Worx Zipsnip. I actually did a little demo video ripping up cardboard with it. Plus I use it in a lot of other videos.
@@daveg4236 Stiff metal putty knife was my goto box opener when i worked retail. Hardly ever damaged the contents, and almost never lost its edge.

When doing a crosscut or a miter cut you should not use the rip fence. There is a chance of the material binding between the miter and the fence. This could cause a kick back of the material. Other than that , thanks for the video..
I'm surprised by the positive comments for this tool. It looks like something I'd throw across the garage after 10 minutes.
Seems to be good for small jobs, but if you're using it as a scrollsaw, the arm limits the size of the work. I like the use of the arm as a guide for length ways straight cuts, seen this on a few hybrid models. But I'd be dubious about the accuracy of straight cuts using a thin scrollsaw blade, even on bandsaws setup with a fence and guide you have to consider the drift. Thanks for the demo Jay;)
Yea very true. It's not gonna do anything as good as it cam be done but it is decent for what it is.

That tool took longer than a box cutter or scissors. What it's it? Is it a reciprocating saw?

How long of a board can you use can you rip down a fence picket
This thing is just awesome. I bought one and have no regrets. If you have limited space and need a multi tasking saw I recommend this. No, you’re not going to be cutting down 4x8 sheets of plywood, but for smaller projects and DIY projects this thing is handy as heck.
Yep i 100% agree you can't ask TOO much of this thing but for what it is a tiny do it all it does everything fairly well but nothing perfectly.

Thanks for the review. Considering this for cutting pen blanks (3/4" thick, 6"long), wood and acrylic. Miter saw just wont cut it since there's no way to clamp the blanks down to avoid and mishaps.

@@EveryDayJay415 Blade Runner does pretty good with the pen blanks, haven't had an issue yet. I swap out to a metal cutting blade for the acrylic, and take it slow. Glad I got it.

You could use it for that sure. I would rather have a miter saw because odds of you needing to make a bunch of similar cuts are high.

Hope you make more Blade Runer X2 videos as your project progresses. I'm also interested in the Ryobi cordless wet/dry vac. Maybe a video on that one too? I didn't know they made one like that - perfect for my modest shop.
Thanks, what would you like to see? I’ve got a shop vac review In the works. It’s the cordless Ryobi P3240 18v 3 Gallon wet/dry vacuum. It uses the same batteries as the drills and other Ryobi tools.
How thick it can cut? 1/2” 1”?
with your guard can this cut a 3 foot board length wise? the guard seems like it can do a 1 foot length before it hits the guard?
I haven't measured but with the guard in place that might be a bit too much for it.

no, its powered by plugging it into the wall. The cord is of decent quality.

Jeje Rudin depends on your needs, but this is a basically jack of all trades master of none kinda deal.
What is the depth of the workspace before it hits the back handle
Not much but that only an issue if you are making non Straight cuts.
Would be informative to have an idea as to how accurate the cuts actually are - maybe do a crosscut, put a square on it and comment accordingly ...... I've no expectation that cuts are 'perfectly' square, but would be nice to have an idea of cut accuracy ...
how well does this do with treated lumber such as a 2x4?
that stuff is usually on the dense side so it might not be the fastest , but with a sharp blade it shouldn't be an issue. what are you working on?

is this powerful enough to cut a hickory board that is 3/4" thick?
I’m sure it will CUT it but it won’t be the fastest. It’s about as fast as an average corded jigsaw.

These saws are not new. These saws were in wood saws were in shops 75 years ago. It's not a diy, arts and crafts saw. These are used for doing things a band saw can't, and material too big for a scroll saw or just not well suited for. They fell out of use with the invention of the handheld and portable jigsaw. The jigsaw is the child of this thing. Back then the table was cast iron and on a full metal stand, not plastic. But everything is made like this today
I just picked this up at Lowe's it was a display model for $30 So hack for 30 bucks I guess I can't go wrong throw it in the shop
Bought the BladeRunner. Cut fine with 3/4 and under wood. Anything above that and it's garbage, to loud, vibrates like a motherF, the blade drifts & twist, the guide is trash. I packed it up and returned it the next day. Don't waste your money. I'd rather beat myself over the head with a frying pan

I bought the first one (RK7321) many years back and had to move, so never even took it out of the box. I just got it set up recently! Came to this video to see if I was missing something. I thought I could use it in place of the many saws I already have including my enormous bandsaw. It’s like using a toy compared to real saws. It’s handy to have set up for a quick cut, but forget long rip cuts on anything 3/4” thick. Arts and crafts cuts would be better served with a good scroll saw. Nice video though!

i think your cut could be improved with a better blade! how many teeth are you using? is it a 120 tooth? it looks like it was cut with a 24 teeth blade "rip saw" type and they give bad cuts but are faster! did it cut straight? the question is the smoothness of the cut and its accuracy teeth can fix smoothness but is it a straight cut with no deviations from side to side or up to down stroke? blades of that nature are not "supported" and so they may seem to cut straight but if you look up and down, top to bottom its at an angle! its straight but angled from top to bottom difficult to describe with words. the top will be 2 inches and the bottom of the board with be 7/8 but it is straight.
Yep very true. better blades are the most important thing. it's almost like cars on a tire. you can have all the power in the world but if the tires are bad your not going anywhere.

I have an old Dremel table jig saw that can do small intricate cuts on thin plywood, etc., useful on model plane, etc. building. The Blade Runner's blade can't make as small radius cuts as a jigsaw blade can. Other than that, the BR looks like it can do well enough for most small DIY projects on reasonably thin materials. A small precision table saw would be better at ripping balsa and hardwood into strips.
yeah this is a one size fits all kind of tool, wont do anything perfect but is good enough for most jobs.
Does this cut tile?

It never cuts straight always give kickback/shaking and slow just a horrible saw get a table saw or a band saw

How thick you can cut? 1.5”?
In the video I cut a 2x6 which is 1.5 thick so yes.

Yeah those are the same tools, handheld would be more compact but this is more versatile. If you want to cut thicker stuff you just get a longer blade.
