    I have owned this saw for over 10 years for making dollhouse furniture and I love it. As a machinist I have gone over it checking alignment, squareness etc. And I am impressed with its accuracy. I couldn't find anything wrong.
    The eraser on a pencil makes an excellent push stick. I also use a strip of 1/8 inch Baltic birch with silicon on one edge.
    For blades some are screw slotting blades, the thinnest is .008 inches. (From Thurston). This saw will cut down the centerline of a sharpened pencil without breaking the lead. I have made a lot of jigs for this from plexigass since I have a lot of access to scrap. For glue I use glacial acetic acid.
    Finally I'll tell you something nobody else knows. Cut a strip of 1/8 inch thick wood to snugly fit in the right side miter slide and let it stick out the back a bit. Slide the fence over untill it touches the strip then lock it in place. Cut a strip of wood and measure it. It should measure 0.500 inches. If its off change the blade thickness. Lift the strip and move the fence over untill it stops again. It should be 1.000 inches or close to it. That's the fastest way I know to get a 1/2 inch wide strip.

So I started saving money for this one - but my husband got ahead of me and gave it to me for my birthday. The price starts from $ 450 + everything you choose additionally. • @tomt9543
    @tomt9543 2 года назад +3

    Very good review of this saw! I have a question though. On a full size tablesaw, the operation you are doing @ 5:17 is considered super dangerous! The thicker piece always being placed between the blade and fence so the thinner piece can fall away from the blade, and a push stick is used to push the bigger piece clear of the blade. If the thinner piece is between the blade and fence, there is a huge chance of kickback when the cut is completed because there’s no room for a push stick, and the thinner slice, being pinched between the fence and rotating blade gets shot out of the saw toward the operator at warp speed! My question being can the micrometer be moved to a location that would the thin piece to be on the far side of the blade from the fence? I really like this saw, but I don’t like what I see from the micrometer part as far as operator or bystander safety! Thanks!

      @@OlhaBatchvarov Your video was an eye opener for me! I’ve always taken for granted that these little saws were underpowered, useless machines. Thanks to this video, I now know that they are surprisingly powerful and accurate, and have several very useful options! I’ve never built a ship model, being a longtime model railroader, but I can see the value in having one of them! My main interest at this stage of my life is railroad and mining structures, not so much the trains theirselves! While researching the Ultimation sander and slicer, I found a video from your channel on their website, and have enjoyed watching several of you vids since, and many more to go! Thank you for such a thorough review. I bought my Byrnes table saw in 2016 and it is still working flawlessly even on hardwoods. A couple of points…
    1) Mr. Byrnes also sells a version with an extended 18” table. I have that version and find the additional 6 inches to be very valuable.
    2) There is no riving knife and so the wood, on thin cuts, tends to fly back towards you. For that reason, I ONLY use the saw with a foot-switch so I can turn off the saw as it cuts through the final fraction of an inch. This will prevent/minimize any fly-back of the wood.
    3) In one of your cuts, you use the miter gauge with the wood pressed against the fence. That is very dangerous since the wood can get trapped and break apart. You should only use the miter gauge or the fence, but NEVER both.

    Good effort no doubt about it. In regard to the sliding table I assume that the height / thickness of the wood that can be cut is reduced by the thickness of the sliding table which is ???????? It states on the Byrnes Website that this machine can cut up to 15/16ths of an inch (23mm) thick material. You really do get what you pay for. The only thing I would different if I was to be the designer is to use two miter gears to drive the elevating screw. That way the elevating handle could be graduated in set amounts.
    Maybe two other things. A tilting blade instead of a table. Also a riving knife.
    A handy feature to have on the longer table version might be a way to mount a 3mm/1/8th" rotary tool for routing.

    Ольга, доброго Вам дня 🤗. Дякуємо за те, що Ви ділитеся своїми знаннями 👍. Підкажіть, будь-ласка, чи можливо використовувати цей станок в квартирі на балконі ? Який в нього рівень шуму ? Чи ним необхідно користуватися лише в нежитлових приміщеннях ?
    Та ще, підкажіть, будь-ласка, де його можна придбати ? Буду дуже вдячний за Вашу відповідь 🤗

      Станок досить тихий. Я була дуже здивована цим. І має вивід під будівельний пилосос! Хоча від неї тирса не розлітається аж на стелю, як від китайських циркулярок. Бо раніше мені доводилося все накривати перед роботою зі станком, а потім все пилососити, бо на. Плконі приміщення не велике і все вкривалося шаром пилу. Як би тоді вже я мала таку циркулярку, я б максимум відкрила вікно для витяжки. Тирса від неї розлітається в радіусі 50 см від фрези і вона не перетворюється на дрібну куряву що висить у повітрі, а порівняно важка тирса - яку навколо я змітаю щіткою...

Тому що з пилом я якось розбируся, а от з сусідами 😉😂. Наразі дуже Вам вдячний 🤗

    This saw is frighteningly expensive and out of reach for young modellers. It is only accessible to well-off people (or singles) or retirees with time and money on their hands. I am puzzled tho': it's not for kit builders, but for scratchbuilders.
