Can I beat Pokémon LeafGreen without using any STAB moves using Hardcore Nuzlocke Rules?
Normal Nuzlocke Ruleset:
1. Fainting = Death
2. Can only catch the first Pokémon on each Route
3. I cannot use moves that are the same type as the Pokémon using them
4. Nickname Pokémon
Hardcore Nuzlocke Ruleset:
5. No items in battle (held items okay)
6. No leveling past the next gym leader/E4 (at the START of the battle)
7. Play on "Set" battle mode

I’d love to see a STABless Black/White. Also, glad to see Kingler kick ass as well
Truly an underrated mon. He may not be good enough for Competitive, but that monstrous 130 base attack absolutely should not be underestimated while playing against ai
@@scrungobeepis5443 STAB Sheer Force Liquidation off base 130 Attack and Life Orb deals a lot of damage. Mega Kingler is also really good in Radical Red OU
@@grunkleg.3110 And Sheer Force negates Life Orb yeah? Damn
Serperior: *shudders*
You know it's kinda funny how Jan was using Dragon Claw and Blastoise was using bite in the last battle. It really is poetic cause dragon claw which is similar to scratch did a little bit more than bite and in the very first battle scratch did more than squirtles tackle
I’ve really been enjoying these stranger runs - monotype is really
interesting to watch, but this offers a different dimension of strategy that I love. Keep it up!
They certainly are a nice break.
Plus we’ve already seen a lot of monotype on RUclips
Monotype Runs are hard (for me) though
Furthest tries I had in Emerald were Water, Poison and Normal with like 7 badges each on their runs.
Other types like bug are a chore without proper EV-training (which I find annoyinh tbh)
Strange question but if a Pokémon is not the type that the monotype run is being done in but an evolution of the Pokémon is the Pokémon still allowed?
I like how the final battle in a way ended up looking like the first rival fight with the mons using nonstab moves to hit each other
Yeah, these powerful elemental monsters finished the last showdown literally scratching and biting
@@davidmccarthy4206 kinda like the final fight with Naruto vs Sasuke: from godlike techniques all the way down to a dirty fistfight
“That was truly an intense battle”- Giovanni seconds after his entire team gets one shot by non stab moves
I mean to be fair getting humiliated by a child on a novelty challenge run in front of all your employees is probably a very intense experience
Flareon's actually my favorite Eeveelution, so it's nice seeing it get used for once.
Edit: spoke too soon. oops.
oops.
oops.

Read the comments before watching the video. Oops. 😂
oops.
I loved the part where he didn’t use a stab move
same!
and then non-stabbed all over leaf green
my favorite part was when he said "it's not stabbin' time!" and didn't stab all over those guys
No, the part where he didn't use a stab move was much better
I liked when he Nuzlocked
Flygon popping off on a Wednesday? Love it
SUS. THIS REPLY IS SUS
Edit: looks like the spam reply got removed. Good job team
@@wanderingbardgaming my comment got one too..
@@spencernelson129 mine too. This is ridiculous
@@wanderingbardgaming and there already is a new bot. RUclips has a serious problem with bots.
@@trithos7308 at least we can flag them as sus to help otger people avoid them. Hut yeah this is a stupid waste of time
I think the challenge went so well because the restriction of no STAB really forced your noggin into overdrive. This nuzlocke was clean and well played!
What a fun run. Was great seeing all of these different moves on various mons
And obligatory, "You don't get to be champion of the Pokemon League without knowing how to spam full restores!"
How about a Nuzlocke where you're limited to pokemon with a base speed stat of 60 or lower! A lot of strats seem to rely on outspeeding, so it'd be cool to see how you make due with (almost) always going second!
The answer is often stalling
@Whatastandupguy I believe you mean to say set up stalling means that you're wasting Turns till your opponent struggles because you have no win condition.
@@kylelundgren5133bulky attackers, Toxic, there's plenty of ways to win with a speed didadvantage
Snorlax lol
As an extreme history nerd, I laughed my ass off when you said "julius Caesar safe space".
You sir, made my day
Absolutely brilliant.
I don't wanna hate. I rate it 8/8, mate.
Et tu Brute
2:21 Fun Fact: The critical hit ratio is automatically upped by one stage against Pokemon that are bald.
Source: just trust me
This needs to be top comment
Even though I rarely use it, my favourite Eeveelution is Vaporeon. There's usually a bunch of better water types to pick up, but I've always loved Vaporeon's design and how bulky and reliable it is in battle. Espeon is probably a close second for the same reasons, and I've used it more often in my own runs.
Vaporeon's also my favorite, but like you I also don't use it that much, for similar reasons. However, I'm more likely to use my own runner-up, Umbreon. It's my go-to Eeveelution for HGSS due to Taunt, Payback, and giving it a Lagging Tail to almost guarantee going last.
I hate the copypasta because I have a shiny female Vaporeon in Violet and using her feels weird
One of the most impressive things in this run is just how many three letter names you were able to pair with Stabby. There can't be that many more.
He did a better job with three characters than colosseum and gale of darkness did with six(?)
the edited Brock text box that says “Wait! This is an ad segue” is a nice touch
i love how at the end, even when Sandslash didn't have much of an impact, flygonHG was still humble, and was like "it's ok, not everyone is lucky" instead of getting mad.
I'm a big fan of Umbreon! I love dark types, and the glowy rings are just way too cool. It's got one of my favorite shiny colors too, what with the electric blue rings and all. Umbreon's ability to do some confusion shenanigans and stay reasonably healthy due to its crazy defenses and moonlight is also a nice bonus, it's a pretty cool Pokemon that I always enjoy using.
I do enjoy watching Nuzlockers doing some interesting challenges. Also, Flygon, Littlelocke in the future? I would like to see you attempt that challenge.
Flareon is actually my favorite eeveelution! I feel like she would be the perfect pupper to cuddle with on a chilly winter day
Your nuzlocks are one of my favourite ever to watch
Glaceon is definitely my favourite eevee. They have a beautiful design. I’ve also a newfound appreciation of Espeon of late though so they would probably take second place.
I will ALWAYS be a fan of these more unique nuzlocke challenges. i love seeing how much it changes the game. Well met Dr. AltariaHG
Very interesting challenge. I think “No super effective moves” could also be cool
Only Not Very Effective moves could be even better, or at last more difficult.
Normal types spam Return the game the movie
FGHG: Don’t look too much into stabby Liz. Me: How do you stab with an axe?
Came looking for a comment referencing this and had to scroll down much farther than I thought
Yay! I missed you on Saturday, I always look forward to your videos. I'm so glad you got this out, it's made my day
I love your videos flygon! You put so much thought and effort into your nuzlocke challenges, and your video style is so funny and relaxing at the same time. Its always a pleasure watching, keep up the good work!
I think a possibly interesting rule for a move-related nuzlocke would be that you have to teach whatever new move a pokemon learns by level up
Flareon is my favorite Eevee evolution because it is fluffy and not many people use it but it’s nice to see you use one :)
What about a nuzlocke where you’re only allowed to use one move of each type? Like only thunderbolt for your electric move, only crunch for your dark move etc
Love the content!
So No type coverage dang hard
@@gogetawhatif8138 You’d still have type coverage, but only one move. So if you want electric type damage you can’t use thunder wave, or if you want leech seed you can’t use grass damaging moves cuz only one move per type
You’d be restricted to 18 moves, which is only 3 full movesets.
@@dreeg1896 You can still use the moves on multiple mons tho
I don't know. That'll make either the early game a nightmare with far too few moves you can use, the later game a nightmare with the moves available being far too weak, or both.
Great video! It's nice that you took a break, these challenges are draining after all.
I didn't know what STAB moves were so I learned something new haha
I wish the next challenge includes a Nosepass, to expand on the lore of Nosey.
the references are on point, as always!
your videos got me through a bad time mentally, so i feel emotionally connected with your channel. and your videos are sooooo entertaining too!
I remember when Sylveon was first revealed I just knew I had to have them on my Pokémon y team, they’ve been my favorite ever since
Finally, a new FlygonHG video, right when I was about to eat. This day just got good!
same here! eating good for my eyes and tummy
this no-stab run was actually really interesting! great video
“And Squirtle is bald. Charmander on the other hand…” like Charmander isn’t hairless too 😭
Always awesome to see a new upload from you. This was really fun to watch! For the question of the day, I'd say my favorite eeveelution is Vaporeon. She was the very first one I got, so I have a lot of nostalgia attached to her, and she's got some really fun, stally movesets that can be used in competitive battles.
DO NOT CALL VAPOREON A SHE! MOST OF ITS RATIO IS MALE! DO NOT CALL A POKEMON A SHE IF IT HAS MORE THAN 50% OF THE MALE RATIO!
Espeon is definitely my favorite Eeveeloution, great video as always!
My favorite is Glaceon. Love that little cold foxxo
Love all your videos man, I stumbled on your vids a while back, and honesty I love the way you approach your challenges! Keep it up!
I’m Nuzlocking Soulsilver right now, and my Espeon seems to think I’m trying to do this challenge, because he insisted on evolving too late to learn Confusion, so now we have to wait for him to hit level 36 and learn Psybeam. My Venomoth and Noctowl are better at being Psychic-type than my actual Psychic-type.
Honestly the earlier gens have overall
terrible level-up movesets
@@paulelderson934 Very true.
This needs to be a series.
And also with only pokemon with 2 types so it could be more of a challenge!
“No body, no crime.” Nice psych reference. I see you’re a man of culture.
"Wait!
This is an ad segue!"
Loved that one 😂
Good concept, and well executed, I'd enjoy more of this type of nuzlocke.
Glad you had a chance to recharge yourself. Keep making awesome content, but at your own pace!
Awesome challange! Well played! Fun to see someone finally do this as a nuzlocke. I beat Radical Red without STAB moves a while ago (not a nuzlocke though) and had a lot of fun with it. It let's you use some mons in a completely new way. I ended up mainly getting carried by body press mega aggron and mega launcher abuse.
This is an absolutely lovely birthday gift! ;P in all seriousness, I adore this channel and all of the content flyghonhg works hard to produce. Thank you very much, ❤️💜❤️💜❤️
Love this run, so fun and unique!!! I was really happy to see Kingler used :D I think a gen 3 or 5 run would also be really cool for this challenge! (Also my fav Eeveelution is Espeon! ✨)
OMG, in the Johto anime, it also came down to Ash's Charizard using a STAB-less move and Gary's Blastoise using Bite.
Julius Caesar's Safe Space absolutely had me rolling. This is a cool idea!
2 weeks late to the party, great vid Flygon! Really enjoying your challenges and commentary at the moment. I'd love to see this in more generations, it's a really cool concept.
I love your charisma and video style, your Nuzlockes are always so fun to watch! Glad to hear Leafeon is your favorite, people seem to forget about that one. Mine is Vaporeon.
How about a Stone Evolutions only run? It would be interesting to have to balance when to evolve a Pokémon as most of them will stop learning level up moves when you do so. Emerald is probably the best game for it with the early options.
I really like this idea.
Yasss ! Perks working from home is getting to tune into new Flygon video!
This was a great video! Thanks so much for trying this challenge! In the future, I'd love to see a Gen 5 game or X/Y if you do it again.
I smile everytime you upload but an unexpected upload feels even greater! Love your video's you're a massive inspiration!
I’m not sure where it would fall difficulty-wise, but I think a nuzlocke that bans evolution could be quite fun! It forces you to use weaker mons too.
This as a concept is such a great idea!
Love the content Flygon keep up the good work.
one of my favorites of your nuzlockes. really fun team and great use of their movesets
I'd love to see you do an inverse nuzlocke in X and Y since it was the region to introduce them
I think my favorite eeveelution is espeon as it's the one I end up using the most in game
This would be an awesome idea for Galar games.. it won't be difficult because of TMs and TRs but I am actually excited to see how you would utilize these TMs and TRs for your pokemon and how you would use them.
listening to flygon is always a great time. he's the perfect distraction for this hurricane I have to work through!
naming the rival “poop.” made me laugh way too hard for a legal adult
Sounds very challenging lmao
Edit: nvm i thought you meant no two moves of the same type
Lol same
Ok, not to toot my own horn, but I literally just did this in leaf green. Stop copying me!
I've done this kind of run before; it's super fun, and I love that you're doing it now too!
I always look forward to new types of videos like this and the strategy you’ll use! Well done 😁
Such a small thing, but the fact that Dr. Flygon purposefully uses the right pronouns for ungendered Pokémon is a sign he’s a swell fellow
So you could say he's a... Swellow?
Even if stabby Jan lost to squirtle right away you would be fine bc most nuzlockers say "nuzlocke doesn't start until you get pokeballs" but to each their own. Love the videos!
Absolutely loved this! Hope you do more of this style
Yes, flygonhg did it again and this video proves it!! I love how your creativity for challenges (and taylor swift quotes) never fails to surprise me, keep up with the good work. ❤️
Great video, looks like I underestimated the stab moves a bit as it ended up being hard than I thought, something to keep in mind for my next nuzlocke 👍
Flygon giving me the energy I need for the rest of the week. What a beast!
Totally wasn’t expecting this on a Wednesday!! Im here for it
just the right thing to help me unwind after a long day of work and school. thanks for being a great content creator, bro. (also rip uncle jimtendo, uncle jay not my uncle)
I was just rewatching some old videos, perfect timing!!
"The smaller of Blaine's two cows" earned a like from me. hahahahaha
What a cool video idea! Loved the Ceasers safe space meme lol
favorite Eevee is Glaceon, They look so slick and gracefully and also I love ice types despite how not so great ice types tend to be
Nice one. Would love to see a locals only nuzlocke (only use pokemon in the area around each gym) or an underdog run leveled below gym leaders
What a crazy coincidence! I just started an emerald hardcore nuzlocke a few days ago in which I am not using any tms, and now you come out with your own nuzlocke doing basically the opposite haha. Great video as always!
Ive done this for Leaf green and made it so the final fight was the champion rematch and it was a nightmare lol - makes you realize how bad move sets were base in gen 3
Flygon can I just tell you how much I appreciate your ts references
Never stop, Flygon. Your content is of the very highest calibre
Awesome video and whats even funnier is that Nuclearstomp is my friend too so were laughing about this.
I absolutely love your videos! They make me feel like a kid again watching them. However; I will never be ok with how you add an extra syllable to Arcanine's name xD Keep it up!
I have an idea for a nuzlocke
How about a playthrough using just meme pokemon such as Bidoof and Shuckle
We'd need a specific criteria to define what pokemon has become a meme and what hasn't though
I love Glaceon so much, their cry is the cutest ever omg. Also I'm biased from pokemon Reborn where one saves the player.
STABless runs are ones I've seen on the forums sometimes, yeah! It's cool to see them make their way to the RUclips side of the Nuzlocke community - Not to say that one is better than the other, by any means, but runs like these are a nice change of pace from the monotypes a lot of folks do! If you're interested in other rulesets that have similar added rules but give you opportunities to use a wide variety of Pokémon, a similar option would be a run where you can't use super effective moves! Or ones that have similar rules to the monotypes in terms of Pokémon restrictions, but based on other factors, like a Colorlocke, where you can only use Pokémon of a particular color in the dex... oh, or one I tried out last year called a Chainlocke, where you unlock types as you catch new Pokémon, and lock the types away as they die, based on the ones you currently own - So for instance, starting with Charmander, you can catch Fire and Flying types since that line is Fire and Flying types, and then when you catch, say, a Pidgey, you unlock Normal, since Pidgey is Flying and Normal! But then if your Charmander dies and you haven't caught a Vulpix or Growlithe or something, Fire types are locked away again, since you don't have a living Fire type. It's not very hard in Kanto imo, but there's some interesting potential in games with more limited encounters and type variety, especially early on!
Just when I thought playing a No STAB run on Emerald (no Nuzlocke) was a very original idea, you upload this video. That's an interesting coincidence, though, I allow all status moves and damaging moves like Mirror Coat and Sesmic Toss, just no STAB multiplier.
Nice run BTW, this no STAB rule is really interesting for a Nuzlocke.
Yay, another FlygonHG vid. Interesting challenge, this one!
Oh. And it'd have to be either Flareon or Glaceon.
Loved it Flygon❤. Such a cool and interesting idea. Almost makes me want to try it.
"I don't want to use Gyarados, it would be too easy"
*Gengar psychic intensifies*
5:54 Brock’s dialogue lmao
Good, subtle edit
So this is an HM and normal type moves run lmao. Love your content, keep up the good work!
Another awesome vid Flygon! Always love your work
Great video as always
Have enjoyed binging your nuzlockes and am all caught up now
Would like to see a STAB ONLY playthrough if possible
Really love this idea for a nuzlocke.
As for the question of the day, gotta go with Glaceon, as it ended up being my answer to Cynthia's Garchomp in Platinum, which really endeared me to it. And also it's just cute.
16:00 legitimately made me cry a bit. You help me in those suckier moments Flygon
New flygonHG video dropping as soon as I start my lunch break? Must be fate 😍
