The Stone lore continues to deepen! Transcription of the letter, for those who don't feel like pausing the video: Ahem "My dearest Steven, I am once again writing to you in regards to your half-human, half-Nosepass brother, Nosey. He is unwell. Though he has recovered from his time at the confusingly named Camp Rock, he now does not seem to be adapting well to our new three dimensional reality. It appears to be troubling him deeply. I must admit, I too am perplexed by the sudden shift to three dimensional existance. Why are our heads so much bigger than our bodies? My neck is sore all the time. But I still have a company to run. It keeps me busy and I try not to think about it too much. Unfortunately, Nosey has no such distractions. He wakes up screaming in the middle of the night, his small stubby Nosepass arms flailing from his fully human torso. It's an upsetting sight, as a parent, but also as a person with eyes. I didn't catch any of them, apart from Meditites, where I was like "Iron will? Oh god, is that a hint that a steel psychic type (aka the Metagross from Steven) will kill this?" I was wrong, but I was happy for catching it at all, haha.

Happy Flygon upload day! I’m sure this run will be entertaining to watch. But I can’t wait for y’all to see the upcoming Renegade Platinum nuzlocke. Very engaging to watch as someone who’s never done a rom hack. Intense battles, hilarious commentary, and moments that put you on the edge of your seat (as much as Pokémon game can do.)
Psychic is a pretty cool type, so this was a fun Nuzlocke to watch. The ad integration was as always on point, as was the speech in the middle near Lilycove. PS: The letters to Steven are their own narrative now, I'm invested in the poor life of the wretched existence that is Nosey.
7:54 except in Sword and Shield, where being a lower level than the Pokémon you’re trying to capture drastically reduces it’s catch rate. It doesn’t matter by how much though.
And bdsp right? I've noticed in the grand underground I have a hard time catching pokemon unless I'm a higher level than them. Could just be my luck though lol
I think that it would be cool to have a kill count for each member of the team (kills they made during like rival + gym battles primarily so the number isn’t so huge and annoying bc all of the random encounters) but that way at the end of the run we can see who the MVP of the team was lol
Seeing Xavier the male Gardevoir made me very nostalgic as my first Pokémon game was Sapphire and my best mon was easily my male Gardevoir. Also loved the Taylor reference.

Oh my god you have no idea how long I've been waiting for an ORAS run. I absolutely love this game, and I remember you almost calling it S tier, so this is super exciting moment in the FlygonHG cannon
Roxanne's AI likely saw that she outsped you and that Tackle had a higher hit chance than Rock Tomb (especially with Double Teams), so it likely prioritized that. It is kind of a shame that the AI can be exploited so easily, because AI-controlled opponents can't learn from patterns like humans can. They're completely bound to their programming and will perform the same action over and over again, even if every previous outcome resulted in failure.
@Cirrus It boils down fundamentally to how machines process. They store data with perfect recollection (unless broken link or something) but they're extremely unadaptable and cannot identify something unless explicitly told to. The more complex something is, the more inefficient machines become, unless properly coded and even then, all it takes is one shift in the pattern and they become unable to function. All the movies about machine uprisings would realistically end immediately with the machines losing because they're completely predictable and so easily exploited. Any successes they achieve would be a one time thing, because all humans would have to do is avoid replicating the circumstances. An AI is only as complicated as the person who programs it decides it will be.
I'm reasonably certain that the AI is hard-coded to only use moves like Rock Tomb and Bulldoze when your Pokemon is faster. (Speed-dropping offense moves, that is. Status moves don't seem to follow this rule.) As long as you're slower, the AI should never go for Rock Tomb or Bulldoze if it has another usable move, even if Rock Tomb or Bulldoze would deal more damage. It's something that started in BW2, I think. This means it applies to Roxanne in ORAS, Grant in XY, and Clay in BW2. I can't provide any sort of link to prove it, I only heard it mentioned in a GDQ speedrun one year, but in my own experience, it holds true. I fought Clay with a Lucario in a steel-type-only run, and sure enough, after one Bulldoze he never used it again, even though it would have been super effective. I'm prepared to be wrong, though. It may be worth testing for future runs of the post BW2 games. Edit: I'm also fairly certain that this clause only applies to gym leaders and not other trainers. Again, tests may be necessary.
Emerald was my first Pokémon game as a kid, and the Hoenn remakes were what got me back into the series as an adult. Yes they’re easy, but they’re fantastic games and I’d love to see a mono fire-type run of them at some point. Also loved the IASIP reference!

Flygon I am probably one of your first subscribers..and I am really happy that I found you back then... your videos are deep and you put so much effort all the time...I always love when you do these little stop time and think about your life moments... and everything small that you say through out the playthrough seems like you have put a lot of thought in it ... you one of the best poketubers ... cause you really know how the game works and you go for hard challenges but also you are funny and your videos always hide a deeper meaning into them ...even in the small things ...keep up the good work bro ... some works from an old sub
Excellent work as always! I love the content on this channel. A suggestion I thought of is a gen 2 grass-type nuzlocke. The gyms, team, and elite 4 in that gen are not very friendly to grass types, so I think it'd pose an interesting challenge
I'm so excited for this video dude!!! Psychic types are my favorite so I've been eagerly awaiting this. I'm still just at the very beginning but also may I say ur ad transitions literally make me Laugh Out Loud TM and I so appreciate all of these videos
I've noticed a lot of hoenn runs as of late, so... nosepass run when on a serious(?) note, great video! I know this because I've only watched the first minute and 28 seconds. Your content is that consistent in quality!
Your videos are always a joy to binge while I'm hatching eggs for a shiny hunt or IV breeding, or stuck doing EV training for one of my little fun team builds.
When you said Raven my actual first thought was X-Men lol Totally forgot how many Psychic types are in Gen 3! I was expecting you to do a Psychic lock of X/Y because Fennekin eventually gets the Psychic type...might use that idea for my own channel instead lol.
The segues into the sponsors always make me laugh and I loved this one a lot, it caught me off guard in a great way. Always love watching the runs and I'm super excited for another Hoenn one!
Let’s go I love you so much dr flygon thanks to you I beat my first nuzlocke thanks for all of this amazing content! Have a great day if you see this content take it easy everyone and remember always play around the critical hits ❤️
another incredible video :D your sponsorship segue was perfect and i love the ongoing bits of nosey and uncle jimtendo. almost as entertaining as the nuzlockes themselves. your videos are one of the reasons ive gotten so invested in pokemon recently. not gonna go into the details but my recent pokemon interest led to my friend asking me out and now i have a girlfriend
That's the thing with ORAS, they're really easy to Nuzlocke and then it's just Steven that's threatening, i did a Nuzlocke in Alpha Sapphire and only lost mons to Steven. Anyway, nice run, thanks for the vid
Love the videos and am a big fan of the monolocks. I know it is necessary to mix it up to break the monotony of them but I must say they are my favourite.
So interesting that they allowed Wally's main to be switched to a mon that'd be introduced a gen later, but didn't bother giving the rest of his team Sinnoh evolutions. Why no Roserade? Why no Magnezone? Give the boy some better buffs 😩
You know, the Gym Leader (and Elite 4/Champion) rematches have been a thing since Emerald, effectively meaning the first run of a game is just a 'story' run, with the later matches being them using a 'real' team as it were, instead of a weak test team. It'd be interesting to see these any of the nuzlocke runs go through those, since its been a thing for 18 years and a lot of people don't seem to even know they exist... Hoenn was my favorite region until Alola, so more of the modern remakes sounds awesome. Aside from that, Pokemon Unbound is flat out the best Pokemon game I have ever played, and especially with the absolutely insane amount of changes the 2.0 update made it would be great to see more content of it in general. Out of curiosity, what is your favorite Pokeball? Mine is premier, I make a point even in casual runs to catch the whole team in them. They just look so clean and professional, and the little sparklies on release are satisfying. Nest and Level balls are tied for a solid second place; they both give the nice feeling of raising the mon from low level/young/runt of the litter into champions. One of my favorite theme teams to run is movie monsters, either Kaiju or just in general, and having them all in nest balls like I've raised them from adorable cuddle lumps into beastly engines of destruction is simply satisfying.
Because of you i'm doing a nuzlocke of pokemon black. You've inspired me to ...try... to commit to an actual run without giving up halfway through. Then again I did do a ultra moon nuzlocke at one point, that ended up getting wiped to a whiscash and gyarados.
I'd like to see how you handle the encounters for a Rock nuzlocke in Ultra Sun/ Moon. The boring Geodude starter is replaced by a choice of several options! I hope you can work it out to get all of them!
So you lost Baltoy, Solrock, Medicham, and Wobbuffet. All easy things came to an end when you fought Steven. Your Psychic Type Only Hardcore Nuzlocke for Pokemon Omega Ruby was a A. Very good playthrough overall. I'm happy your Gardevoir didn't faint. I'm also happy your Gardevoir is a male.
this is a really small thing, but i really appreciate how you use they/them for the genderless pokemon like staryu! as a nonbinary person it makes me really happy
The subtle "Always Sunny in Philadelphia" reference where the old lady offers you an egg in these trying times. Love it. Also I forgot how decent ORAS is. Compared to the other 3d games it's at least kind of replayable and enjoyable.
Idea for your next challenge: You can do a nuzlocke where you only use move that uses the weaker attack stat for calculation. Like using Alakazam but only teach it physical move instead of special. The obvious ban list is the Pkm with equal attack stats (Flygon, Kingdra). This could be challenging and fun to do
Can I just say that I really appreciate that you make sure to use gender-neutral pronouns for Pokemon without a defined gender? It seems like a small thing but you're the only one I know that consciously does it and I like it. Rock on, man!
I noticed you use the correct pronouns for each Pokémon instead of calling them all “it.” You use he for males, she for females, and they for gender-less pokemon! That’s awesome!
7:55, even funnier fact. Last gen(8) added a addendum to change that. If your pokemon is lower level AND you havent completed story you get a massive catchrate penalty.
4:58 Maybe AI didn't want to use a move that had low accuracy since you were already +2 evasion? But then Rock Tomb on Geodude makes no sense in that case.
Because Stands are explicitly identified as being a type of psychic power, Staryu could have had the name Jotaro, Jonathan, Josuke, Joseph, etc. or Jostar.
A cool gen 6 challenge would be to use only Pokémon that can mega evolve (and their pre-evolutions as well of course) but never mega evolve them. This would be interesting as some encounters would be straight up broken but others would be a lot weaker. It would also be a decent spread of Pokémon types
7:54 While this *is* a misconception for most of the games, the more recent ones have actually added it as a mechanic. In SwSh, BDSP, and SV, you actually get a bonus to your catch chance for wild Pokemon below level 20 (in Gen 8)/level 13 (in Gen 9), with a higher bonus the lower the level of the Pokemon. As an example: In Scarlet/Violet, throwing a regular Pokeball at a lv13 or higher Lechonk with full health has a ~43.86% chance of catching it. At level 10, it has a ~62.43% chance. At level 3 and lower, it has a 100% chance.
Why not Mega Gardevoir? You can get a Gardevoirite after you defeat/capture Groudon/Kyogre in a house which i don't remember where it is. And why not Mega Medicham? Mega Carrie could have been an absolute beast! Aweomse video, btw!
This is crazy, I recently done this in emerald! Took 27 tries mostly failed early game. I had to keep my starter in my team until ralts learned thief to damage dark types. But I decided to cut that and focus solely on double team stats for the entire early game. But after the 3rd gym it went a lot smoother for me. Ps I went emerald so I couldn't get meditite (after seeing your previous run were you basically solo with it), so thought emerald would be harder. God it was but felt amazing to finish. Early game was hell though, a LOT of RNG, mainly against grunts/ other dark types.
"I called the abra Karen Smith, it's like she has ESPN or something..." i laughed so hard, we love a mean girl reference. your nuzlockes videos are really the best dude, thank you for your hard work !
Love the psychic types used all of great memories....expect wobbuffet who failed me so many times Gardevoir is an old reliable classic powerhouse I love Alakazam I used once but it's a special mon to me Starmie tore though emerald hoenn Medicham was way more powerful then I ever thought even sweeping the team aqua hideout in AS & solrock I used in a rock only run in OR and was great for setting up trick room for aggron or armaldo

I was going through nuzlocke challenge withdrawals so this is perfect timing
Love that at 7:35 you crit both of May's Pokemon AFTER not one shotting them with non crits
8:35 lmao, no chance I’d ever guess that one of the psychics would come from Mean Girls™, absolute genius
Gardevoir: but wait im a boy tho-
Flygon: “hush child.”
I've noticed a lot of hoenn runs as of late, so...
nosepass run when
on a serious(?) note, great video! I know this because I've only watched the first minute and 28 seconds. Your content is that consistent in quality!
He’s gotta do mono-rock eventually. My guess is XY cuz u can get nosepass AND carbink
Your videos are always a joy to binge while I'm hatching eggs for a shiny hunt or IV breeding, or stuck doing EV training for one of my little fun team builds.
Why do I feel bad for a fictional half nosepass half human hybrid
Your intros to sponsors are always a high point for me. Congratulations for the creativity, and for another amazing video!!! Love every one of them
When you said Raven my actual first thought was X-Men lol
Totally forgot how many Psychic types are in Gen 3! I was expecting you to do a Psychic lock of X/Y because Fennekin eventually gets the Psychic type...might use that idea for my own channel instead lol.
I'd expect him to look for reasons NOT to use Fennekin. 😅
@@miaurakimchi7349 XD after hearing him rage about Serena's Delphox that does make sense
@@heinzdoofenshmirtz8643 haha ok you really made me think I wrote let’s go when referring to the game lol
I saw Gardevoir in the thumbnail and thought - 'oh nice! another emerald run!' - I was mistaken! Can't wait to watch a FlygonHG ORAS run! :O
another incredible video :D your sponsorship segue was perfect and i love the ongoing bits of nosey and uncle jimtendo. almost as entertaining as the nuzlockes themselves. your videos are one of the reasons ive gotten so invested in pokemon recently. not gonna go into the details but my recent pokemon interest led to my friend asking me out and now i have a girlfriend
That's the thing with ORAS, they're really easy to Nuzlocke and then it's just Steven that's threatening, i did a Nuzlocke in Alpha Sapphire and only lost mons to Steven. Anyway, nice run, thanks for the vid
i love how you always respect even the gender of Pokémon, even when they don't have ome
Flygon is a swiftie???? Omg I like him more and more each video I see
You know, the Gym Leader (and Elite 4/Champion) rematches have been a thing since Emerald, effectively meaning the first run of a game is just a 'story' run, with the later matches being them using a 'real' team as it were, instead of a weak test team.
I diid actually realise I wasn'tt subscribed after watching like more than half the playlist for the nuzlockes. You were pretty spot on.
Omega ruby is definitely a cool game to do this in, the start with ralts is probably going to be really rough though
bruh Daddy stone's letter is truly heartwarming and saddening
So you lost Baltoy, Solrock, Medicham, and Wobbuffet. All easy things came to an end when you fought Steven. Your Psychic Type Only Hardcore Nuzlocke for Pokemon Omega Ruby was a A. Very good playthrough overall. I'm happy your Gardevoir didn't faint. I'm also happy your Gardevoir is a male.
loved it as always! also adored this naming theme.
Are you planning anymore snap-lockes in the future? The Unova one was really fun to watch!
Flygon HG’s narration is unmatched🔥
this is a really small thing, but i really appreciate how you use they/them for the genderless pokemon like staryu! as a nonbinary person it makes me really happy
that's honestly super sad that you need that level of validation from internet pokemon videos of all things. you failed at life.
This could be challenging and fun to do
Love the little PSA about life haha
And I love your run on Renegade Platinum, you can do it!
Can I just say that I really appreciate that you make sure to use gender-neutral pronouns for Pokemon without a defined gender? It seems like a small thing but you're the only one I know that consciously does it and I like it. Rock on, man!
Out of the woods and in the clear yet, good!
You're my favorite swiftie youtuber,
I noticed you use the correct pronouns for each Pokémon instead of calling them all “it.” You use he for males, she for females, and they for gender-less pokemon! That’s awesome!
7:55, even funnier fact. Last gen(8) added a addendum to change that. If your pokemon is lower level AND you havent completed story you get a massive catchrate penalty.
the best part of this channel is the running gag of casually inserting taylor swift lyrics
That letter from Daddy Stone damn near killed me.
Uncle Jimtendo AND baby fighting lore on top of another letter? One Ball HG, you spoil us!
4:58 Maybe AI didn't want to use a move that had low accuracy since you were already +2 evasion? But then Rock Tomb on Geodude makes no sense in that case.
Because Stands are explicitly identified as being a type of psychic power, Staryu could have had the name Jotaro, Jonathan, Josuke, Joseph, etc. or Jostar.
Thank you FlygonHG! I really enjoy your videos.
Awesome video flygon :-) oras is my favorite game i hope u do more!
It always brightens my day when you upload! There's something about the way you play that's always entertaining!
"I called the abra Karen Smith, it's like she has ESPN or something..." i laughed so hard, we love a mean girl reference. your nuzlockes videos are really the best dude, thank you for your hard work !
Love the psychic types used all of great memories....expect wobbuffet who failed me so many times
Gardevoir is an old reliable classic powerhouse I love
Alakazam I used once but it's a special mon to me
Starmie tore though emerald hoenn
Medicham was way more powerful then I ever thought even sweeping the team aqua hideout in AS
& solrock I used in a rock only run in OR and was great for setting up trick room for aggron or armaldo
I didn't expect a Mean Girls reference but my day is brightened because of it.
Never heard my name (Xavier) so many times in a youtube video ._.
Good video tho, keep up the work
Pleas keep playing this game… by far my favorite in the series
You've earned that like, not only because this is a great vid, but also for how that SkillShare sponsor was perfectly timed! Jajajjaj. Congrats man!
Psychic type playthroughs: *exist*
Alakazam: "I could milk you"
Carrie died at the end of the story. Seems fitting.
It's so interesting going back to these old videos. The commentary was so different.
