There's no denying the redesigned 2023 BMW 760i is packed to the gills with modern technology and features. This is the most technologically advanced 7 Series yet...but all that tech can make it extremely frustrating to live with - at least if you're a grumpy guy like Roman. He covers all the reasons (including beyond the tech) why the new 7 Series is the most frustrating car he's driven this year.

Here we have more of the same as 200 trolls comment on 6 figure stretch limo they haven't seen, are not the intended market for & will never own, drive or ride in. No wonder you're grumpy. Autonomous cruise means you don't have to take your eyes off the road & iPad in rear seat armrests, along with executive stretch lounge seating & home theatre, which you don't have to worry about because they're options & you can't afford list.

      Theoretically, one is supposed to have it all sorted out before they hit the road. And only operate the basic stuff at stop lights or obviously when not in traffic. IF you are stupid enough to try and operate all the menus/controls in traffic and get in an accident, you deserve to have your license taken away. When a heater was put in a car then later a radio distractions were a plenty. And it was said back then it would be too easy to take your eyes off the road for those 2 simple conveniences. Voice activation is the way to go now. It is no more distracting that having a conversation with someone in the vehicle.

    Love the “Grumpy Guy Review” format! I think manufacturers are all trying to “out-Tesla Tesla” these days and I’m not sure it’s successful in most cases. I just got a Tesla Model S and I find most of the technology to be useful and easy to use - although I did watch a number of videos before pick-up and had a Model Y previously. I also got the round steering wheel - although I think a yoke would be pretty cool with progressive steering. I did check out the current BMW line-up and they seem to have gone fairly hard to “different” rather than better. You definitely need to keep doing these reviews and get the manufacturers to start focusing on tech that improves rather than tech that just makes things different from the old model. I’m guessing your views (and age and experience) are a lot more like those of the actual buyers of cars like the 760i than many of the people making the decisions on what fancy (but useless) tech to add. Well done. Looking forward to more of these.

    Roman put it well. The primary demographic for this car isn't a 26 year old tech bro. It's going to be people in their 50s, 60s and up. People who've been driving for decades and are simply used to certain functionalities. If someone who reviews cars for a living doesn't find things intuitive, I doubt the 60 year old doctor or the 75 year old retired lawyer will. The whole point of a flagship luxury product like a 7 series should be to make your life easier, isolate you from the outside world and all its problems, make you feel nice. It shouldn't treat you like a child, haranguing you with annoying beeps and chimes, or confuse you as to how to find the right HVAC setting or make changing your music complicated. I feel all that was lost on whomever they let design the 7 series. They're trying to show they can compete with Tesla or something, rather than focusing on making the best luxury car.

  • @aaronbritt2025
    @aaronbritt2025 Год назад +2

    I think the clear stuff lights up at night. Might look cool at night, looks stupid during the day. I think the main reason companies are moving controls to the screen is cost. fewer buttons costs less. If they can build the car for less, charge more because it's more "high tech", the shareholders laugh all the way to the bank.

  • @teknightrider2586
    @teknightrider2586 Год назад +1

    AMEN!!! 110% right on the money Roman!!! This BMW is WAY overly complex & OVER engineered! I often think we've lost sight why some cars & trucks used to be great, back when some were simple or "right sized" and not too big either. Now admittedly, there's been times in the past when you (Roman) has frustrated me with not reading at least a lil' bit of a manual for a specific feature, where Tommy saves the day w/knowledge as a breath of fresh air (love you both though Roman & Tommy). 🥰 And also admittedly, I'm in my early 50's... and was a former Apple Sales Mgr. & Level III Tech, Operations & Executive Director who loves tech and has worked w/every Mac since 1984... and I still have business owners and retired CEOs clients who have followed me (some for almost 30 years now that I'm a consultant). And I can say without the slightest hesitation that 99.99% of my clients would HATE this car. The people I know want things that work WITHOUT "complex tech". So count me in as a grumpy old man ready to shake my cain on the front porch to tell the kids to get off my lawn. ha ha 🤣😇
    This kind of reminds me when our kids were growing up... we bought a Nintendo instead of a Xbox or Playstation. Why does that matter you may ask? Well, we wanted to be entertained with super simple controls and to have fun! We did NOT want to sit down and have to read a 100 page manual and figure out all the buttons to beat our kids at a video game. 😇 Plus for me, I read manuals often, so that was NOT my idea of entertainment.
    Also I cannot help but think how much this BMW 760i is going to cost to fix after these things break, but I guess the person that might actually lease it will not care except for the hair they'd pulled out of their head before the lease it up! ha ha 😂 Or imaging the wives who have to drive this... might as well build a dog house now guys! 🤣😳😬 Well that's my 2-½ cents! 😇
    GREAT VIDEO Roman!!! I'd say keep the honest "Grumpy Guy Reviews" coming!!!

    Well I own a 23 760, will all but 1 option (leather headliner). Cost me major $ to build and with less that 5k miles on it, it is back at the dealership for a major steering component repair. Right now, they are telling it will be a month. I endorse, EVERYTHING you said i this video. I can attest to this and the fact that if you went to the back seat it would be even worse. I have the theatre screen and executive rear seating. It will make you 100x more grumpy than the front. This is my 3rd 7 series. If u can even make it to the year 10, the repair cost after warranty could be as much as what u have spent to buy the car. Every bill is just a bit less than what the car is worth.

    Looks like someone in BMW marketing got to "redefine" luxury!
    Sadly big business looks at utter failures like this an excercise in trying to innovate rather than poor management out of control. Experiments are for prototypes, not customers.

    These are going to be a very tough sell. And then depreciate like a meteorite - repair costs likely will be astounding.

    Answering questions that no one has ever asked. Everything has to be a screen. Buttons worked fine for the longest time. Change for the sake of change.

    Sad part is all that engineering and in a few years most of those gadgets will fail and just like any luxury sedan it will be worth peanuts

    What someone actually calling out BMW or German cars in general for not making the best cars in the history of car making.
    There cars have been going downhill for years but car reviewers always find a way to bring up the “driving dynamics” of the car and gloss over the numerous flaws.

    Finally a true review without the usual infomercial BS! I could not agree more. That vehicle is aim at my age bracket and my financial status and I wouldn't touch it with a ten foot poll... It is hideous and unnecessarily complex!!

    All those screens and touch controls are not luxurious at all. They are done for cost-cutting. And shiny black plastic on a flagship car is just disgusting.

    That crystal plastic is so tacky. It looks like it came from an old dusty chandelier. Agree with all the frustrations, they shouldn't be in a car.
