Hit It!!! Late in life lesbian here!!!! Came out at 52 going through a divorce right now. It’s a painful process but I’m glad I’m doing it. Love you guys and all you do!!! You make my day and look forward to your episodes.
omg i'm dying, i work for a personalised license plate company and i just burst out laughing when Pumps mentioned her 'i've had it' 😂😂😂😂 can confirm, we come across some wild f'king customers!
Yes!!! I’ve laughed at this a few times already lolll My ex husband just put a personalized plate on his truck 🙄🙄 Douche lol 😂😂 Thanks for the laugh ladies ❤
I’m 41 & I’ve never heard of a Period Party 😳 If my mother threw me one, I would have been mortified & I have 4 daughter’s and would never put them through something as ridiculous as a party for starting their periods 🤦♀️ People just need to stop!!!!
Love Jen's point about black & white thinking. At this point I think adulting is about being able to live with cognitive dissonance without resorting to dogmatic cop-outs. Love this show - thank you for your work, it brings joy
Period parties aren’t a new thing sadly. My mom and sisters threw me one. I was so gd embarrassed cause I was 13. It deeply traumatized me to the point that I don’t like having birthday parties or like surprises.
I'm like 10 seconds into this video - vanity plates are THE WORST. I'm originally from Virginia where vanity tags are so cheap to get so EVERYONE has them and they're so stupid.
For millennia, girls became women when they reached menarche (their first period). It was a very important event, with many rituals surrounding it. When my daughter started her period, I took her out to dinner for rare beef steaks, virgin strawberry daiquiris, and I commissioned a trunk be built for her. I designed it and an artist built it for her. In the old days, it would have been called a Hope Chest, but I called it an Independence Chest (I filled it with household items on her 18th birthday). She told her best friend, Dani, who was so jealous of the celebration that she asked if I would take them both out and have the strawberry daiquiris, etc. for her. Of course I said yes. Her mother had just given her some pads and tampons and that was it, while she herself had felt it was a very important event. This was in the late 80s. Dani and my daughter talked to me about their fears (cramps, embarrassment), and their excitement at this big milestone, and about being in rhythm with the moon. They asked a lot of questions, and I answered them. And we had a lot of fun. I don't know what these parties are about, but we live in a culture where womanhood isn't particularly honored, and if that's what they're about, I think it could be really good for girls. If the mothers think of themselves as elders with real wisdom, the girls can ask questions about all of what's on their minds. If it's just a superficial thing, it could still be a bonding event for the girls. It all depends on the attitudes and reasons brought to the event.
I wake up every morning at 4am bc this fucking time change and I’m so happy when I have a little pod to listen to while I wait for my gremlins to emerge from their beds
Well, for the record I have a personalized license plate that espouses my support of the rock band Rush. Yes. I'm that proud nerd plus it makes me smile every time I walk behind my car and see it. So go ahead and rip into me. :)
As a 30 year old Trans woman, when is the sign up sheet going to be released for Pumps first girlfriend application 😂 I'd pick my nose with her in the car anyday 😂😂
Now I don’t want to agree with pushing a sexuality on someone.. but I’m curious to see how it plays out for pumps. Biggest will she or won’t she of the century
I was thinking about Pumps’ exact grievance the other day. However, let me drill down even more…every other person has a Tesla where I live, and 90% of them have a vanity license plate that has some variation of a gas pun such as “no oil” or “kick gas” … it’s so ubiquitous it’s now just stupid and obnoxious the idiots think they’re so cool or original with their Tesla … next… no one cares
I'm ambivalent about the Period Party. On one hand, I love that it's trying to destigmatize the idea of periods and blood. When I was younger, it was ONLY ever a shameful thing. But then it also falls into the gendered trap of "becoming a woman" and the "gift of mother nature" and the sacred/gift/live-giving bullshit. Like, having a period doesn't make you a woman. Having a baby doesn't make you a woman. Going through menopause doesn't make you a woman. So why are we celebrating this? Are there any menopause parties? I dno, it feels icky.
If I had one that to my kid she would have hated me for the rest of my days. My daughter is adopted from China so she started out with trauma, especially since she was 3 and had a special needs. She started her period and like didn't stop for 6 months. It was horrible. She was traumatized by just that. She had to go on the pill to regulate it. It was the summer of hell!!
I dated a man who has Sri Lankan background, and he told me his sister had somewhat of a " period party," but it was more of a marking of her " becoming a woman." There was no period blood stuff it was more just a big celebration, and they fed her a lot of eggs. According to him, she has never eaten an egg since, and it was extremely mortifying. I think this type of party is special for their culture which I think is wonderful to keep that going. But typical ( I'm assuming) white women to take someone else's culture and say they made it up and just completely spit on it 🙄
It is great to be proud of one’s culture, but should it truly keep going if the recipient of it is extremely mortified??? And traumatized to the point point of never wanting an egg again 😅 but good point that it was Americanized by WW, which doesn’t make it better at all
I agree about the compound truths. I love you ladies, but I don’t agree with everything you say. I can compartmentalize and realize it’s not about me, don’t take it personal. And you’re just having a laugh.
i love the way Pumps wheezes/laughs every time Jennifer calls her Judge Judy Diana like it's the first time she's ever heard her say that.
literally!! true love 🫶

Pumps.. How are your eyes such a deep black color?! Incredible!
Period parties aren’t a new thing sadly. My mom and sisters threw me one. I was so gd embarrassed cause I was 13. It deeply traumatized me to the point that I don’t like having birthday parties or like surprises.
I laughed so hard with you all 😂❤
I grew up in the suburbs and the country and now live in the city. Much prefer the city 😊
I'm like 10 seconds into this video - vanity plates are THE WORST. I'm originally from Virginia where vanity tags are so cheap to get so EVERYONE has them and they're so stupid.
I would loooooove an episode where Jenn & Judy show some of their favorite memes on the tv/computer and discuss/make us all laugh.
"You're a BIIIIIIG lesbian!" 😂😂😂 such professionalism 😂
The "freedom" they love, is the freedom to be judgemental towards others they don't like.
Could yall make a playlist of all the podcasts yall have been on I neeeeeeeed the content

I’m very unsure about the next-day microwaved McDonald’s…
