    Just bought this yesterday. Super easy setup. I was having some issues with WiFi speeds in the area I have my Xbox setup. I bought this and plugged an Ethernet cable right into it and the speed is significantly better. Almost as if I have it plugged into the actual router. Worth the money. Download speeds were improved by a mile. 👍🏾

    I have brought the UK version of this and the setup is slightly different. I recommend setting this up using the TP - Link tether app as it's just simpler to set up that way. The complete setup took me around 20 mins. The speed to expect will be around 95% - 100% of the usual speed of your router depending on how many are on the network. When choosing a place to put the extender do it in an area where you still have around 4/5 bars of Wi-fi as the further you are the higher the speed penalty. The range for this is very good and is as advertised. I'm very happy with it.

    Important question: I live in a pretty rural area, the cutoff point for any WiFi service providers is 2 houses down (about 1000 ft away). I currently extend to their router with a crappy netgear extender and do get low speed connection most days, but still usable. Will this extender boost those results?

    • @computerjantje
      @computerjantje 2 года назад

      not likely. The extender should be place closer to where you want tho good wifi but stil within good range of the wifi original router. Wifi strength is the same in about all equipment. So you just win the amount of meters that the extender is closer to your goal area while you had to place it inside a good working distance from your router. So in total you win about an extra half range in the direction you are hanging your extender. If the router range was 20 meters, you have to place the extender at about 12.5 meters from the router. From the extender you probably get about 20 meters again. This means a total of 12.5 + 20 meters from the orignal router.

    Two quick questions"
    Does the repeater differentiate between the original network and the extended network? Edimax's repeater for instance emanate a different SSID with the addition of EX in the end.
    Second, do you have to set up the 5ghz and 2.4ghz networks separately or is it a one stop shop setup?

    I took mine back to the store because it was useless. They do have a no return policy but I basically said how was I to know it was garbage until I tried it? He got my drift that I wouldn't ever go back to the store so he reluctantly took it back and said he would send it back to the company and say it was defective. Save your money on this gimmick. Its not worth the money and made my internet slower and worse. The manager also said this unit is not compatible with fibre optics. That could have been my main problem. Most people wont know that.

      HPESC International AB how?

    • @Peter_Schayah
      @Peter_Schayah 5 лет назад

      When you log into it you will have that option to change the mode. You can toggle between extender and accesspoint. When you use it as an accesspoint you have to connect with a networkcable from the router to the tplink. When you do this, first connect it by the cable without mounting the cable so that you can test where it will give the best signal (probably somewhere in the middle of the house). Here where i live i have it mounted in a house next to my house (so the tplink is not even in my house) and i have full signal on my pc here wich here is what they say they deliver = around 250 Mbit/s.
      You will have the work to draw the cable but it is worth it. It gives me better signal than 3 mesh units together that i tried. With the 3 mesh units i got under 100 Mbit/s.
      However if you use the tplink as an extender then the result is not so good

      @@atanasdionisiev3031 Most retail & online stores will allow you to return defective items within a specified time period. e.g. Walmart will accept returns for up to 90 days, Amazon will accept returns for up to 1 year. After the return period for a particular store has expired you will have to deal with the manufacturer. The TP-Link product that I purchased was warrantied by the manufacturer for 2 years. It failed after 18 months. To get a replacement, I would have to pay ~ 20% of purchase price to mail the defective item to them. Moreover, TP-Link will not replace the item with a brand new item. As stated in their warranty policy, the replacement will be a refurbished product without a warranty reset. A company's product warranty is their assurance that the product has fair value. Effectively, their promise to back up their product rings hollow.

      Some shops i kbow even have that 100 days (for example) open period where you can return a product with no explanation and get your money back. If it's bot damaged of course so they can resell it.

    Hi! Nice review! :) I am thinking to buy one of these.
    I have a question though and I'd be thankful if you could look into it: Can this device be used as a repeater for a public hotspot that requires authentication over the portal? So to take the WiFi signal and let me somehow in the interface login with a user and password onto that network. And then the repeater to share that network in the apartment.
    Thanks a lot!

      Sucks for me too. Save your money because once you buy it you own it. They wouldn't take mine back but wanted to sell me another "better" unit for $250.00. Fool me once.

      ??? I use it for my unattached garage that I use as an office. My garage is on the opposite side of the property, about 120 meters from my house where the router is. Without this range extender, I cant connect to anything. With the range extender, plugged in by the back door, I get a full signal that's fast enough to play Fortnite and stream myself for work meetings.
      Are you sure you set it up right? It's a really easy setup... Just to clarify, mine is the same extender as in thia video. (TP Link AC1750) Maybe try checking that its setup correctly or exchanging it. It could just be that your device was faulty.

    Bro I appreciate your specifics but work on just leading up to the actual help. I know you’re trying to the specs down on the video for showmanship/ professional video quality, but you run on and I’m just trying to get my extender to work on my computer. Maybe it’s because I just watched a slew of other people rambling or not talking loudly enough, but I figured I’d leave my two cents.
