I live in Nacogdoches and i do quite a few of those. The wind you experienced is pretty rare. When you get to Texarkana take I 49 south, hit I 20 at Shreveport then 79 to Carthage. You'll miss all those little towns in Texas. If you do another Rockport is cool. Small little beach town.
Be safe out there. Im getting ready to head to California
