Great point about mileage vs itemized. If you are broke down, you are gaining expenses but not putting on miles.

So as an owner with a mba and a cpa a few things to add... 1. You can claim half days of per diem on a trip at 75% of the daily rate. 2 keep a receipt book for things like laundry where you can write location and day as well as how much. 3 must keep records for 7 years. 4 set a day of week or month and print of logs for tax purposes bc if audited irs will ask for them. 5 uniforms only can be deductited if it has company logo. Other than that very good info......

I was with Horizon a few years ago and there's no money to be made. Loved pulling campers but you can't be 75 to 80 cents per mile round trip. I get anywhere from $1.00 to $1.15 from my driveway back to my driveway. Taking the standard deduction of $ .65 and a half cent per mile without receipts. Sure makes taxes easy.

Long story short Colin if you're going to be in Colorado on I-70, Oregon or Washington you better have them with you. I don't know why Oregon makes the decision that you have to have them with you but if you're out there and you don't have them with you then they can find you. I was going to have to drive through Oregon one time in November so I stopped and bought a pair of chains I cabled them up to one of the tie downs in the bed of my truck and they've been there for almost 2 years now. I will never use them but I'm not going to get fined for not having them

Oregon fined me $1100 for not having chains for the trailer even though it wasn't required on that day to put chains on the tires. If the RV company doesn't want you to put chains on the RV then who pays for the fine if you can't put chains on the RV

I sympathize with you with the position that you are in . Some of the thoughts that I have on this are that a three-legged donkey could have delivered those parts by now also what brand of CP3 is the shop ordering for you and also any shop in the country that orders the parts and also installs them is also obligated to honor the warranty not only with the parts but labor . You should be looking at another diesel shop in your area to do this work as this shop owner is looking after his own business and income he certainly is not considering your income and business this truck is not a grocery getter for you it is your livelihood . S&S puts out a what they call a DCR pump that is supposed to be in excellent well-built pump

I do know you make Money, with the Cost of Insurance and expenses, like fuel, food, and Hotels and a Truck Payment. Is there every any backhauls to help with that.

Maybe I misunderstood you, but chain laws will require you to carry chains, even if you don’t put them on during certain months of the winter. If you don’t put them on, you better not run at certain times when they are required to be used
