@@PMRS79 Says the fucking idiot who struggles to grasp that it is possible for a professional to act unprofessionally.
I suppose you actually being thick as fuck think that if a professional footballer, as in he is paid to play football, goes out on the piss the night before and plays shit because he is hung over, does not count as unprofessional because he is still an er, professional.
Let me see if I can break this down into child size bites for you to understand with an actual example, which might help it sink in.
Clare Balding was presenting the BBC's horse racing coverage at a meeting once and her trainer brother's horse was involved in a photo finish for a big race. There was a delay in returning the result and when she interrupted her piece to camera as the announcement was given live over the PA system, she let out an involuntary "oh no" when her brother's horse came second.....She later apologised to camera for her lack of professionalism.
Oh and to give you an actual Barry Davies example of self-confessed unprofessionalism that he also apologised for himself, one time when the Netherlands scored at an international tournament and the camera shot cut to a celebrating sea of fans wearing their national football shirt, he came out with:
"The future's bright, the future's Orange".
Which did not go down well with the BBC being that they do not advertise, nor with the sponsors of the tournament considering they were paying a lot of money to be associated with it and yet here was a BBC employee using the adverting slogan of a rival for free.
There really is nothing funnier than being called a "fucking idiot" by someone whose lack of self-awareness hinders them from knowing that they are actually totally clueless themselves!

@@seanscanlon9067 commentators are not robots, they are perfectly allowed and should offer an opinion, if only because former pros will more often than not side with the player. Commentators views are embraced in other parts of the world, and when providing commentary on their national team always tend to 'show their colours', which doesn't prevent them offering criticism and being objective with it.

I was 10 years old Polish boy in 1986 and my parents did not let me watch this match live in the middle of the night (it was just a schoolyear time, holidays began three weeks later). I was allowed to watch a rebroadcast next afternoon. But before that my father told me we had lost 0:3. I couldn't believe. Poland was the third team of the world, it seemed unbelievable we could lose so high. So, it was the beginning of the long, grey and sad times in Polish football...

Spoilt somewhat at half time when an england fan was attacked by other england fans in the toilets because of club rivalries. 3 nil up & still the neanderthals aren't happy. Unbelievable. Have to say, It’s forgotten now, but England did seriously ride their luck in the early stages of the game. I’m convinced that had Boniek scored that good chance at 00:16 (a type of chance he would usually have scored from) England would have lost that game quite heavily, especially given they were low on confidence after the games against Portugal and Morocco.
Brilliant commentary from Barry Davies after that chance...the best commentator of them all in my opinion.

This was a must win game for England after their poor showing in the previous two games, and the relief when the first goal went in was incredible! Amazing to hear proper commentary again. Barry Davies' reference to, 'crass errors' is quite simply something that you will not hear now. His ability to call movement and positions was excellent. Made watching football and reading a game so much better, and a lot easier than now. How difficult can it be to say x has moved to y and z scores. Rather that than constant talking, shouting and quips that ruin a game. Jonathan 'ear piercing' really has to go.

Emlyn Hughes was spot on right in his attacks at the time on Bobby Robson, Poland and Paraguay were no better opposition at the time than Morocco and Portugal, moderate opponents who should have been blitzed by England but Bobby's reluctance to shift from 4-3-3 to the more agile and versatile 4-4-2 which allowed England to use Hodge and Stevens to plunder the flanks and Beardsley and Hoddle to impose themselves, this was self evident from the start, they should never have stumbled on this approach, people were calling for it from before the campaign...

I am Pole. I looked this footbal match. Portugal win with England. Poland win with Portugal. I believed that Poland will conquer England. Poland this was the good team. England was great.

@mts1977 like you I used to think it was pronounced "America" but I was embarassed to realise while listening to an interview with Becksie-belles (who lives there now) that it actually ends in an "errrr" sound

Underatted result. Poland on the slide since 82 but were still a good side.

Oh yeah Motson's brilliant - "DROGGGGGGBAR!!!!" screaming down the microphone, he's without doubt the most appalling commentators of all time. I mute the TV when he's on, seriously, I'd rather listen to nothing than his senseless noise! There's nobody as good as Barry was, he was class.

Did Lineker ever score a great goal? My Nan could have managed 90 percent of his tap-ins for England.
