Hi Marion a quick tip from my card making, when your covering items or box making as you glue any corners use a pinch stle clothes peg to hold them in place as you go. They only need to be on a few minutes this is really useful if you only have thinner glue but even with thicker glue just means nothing moves and you do not have to worry that your corners will move when you do the other side. I actually have a set of tiny pegs they type sell in ikea for putting up christmas cards in my stash for this purpose they do not stick on the item. It really helps secure things where you want them

Oh Marion! What a marvellous transformation to a cutlery box it is sooooo beautiful with the lace edging and ditzy flower lining. How I wish my artistic ability was a fraction of yours. The cross-stitch picture of your lovely children is a real joy. Your staying power and determination to finish was enormous but what better use of your time could there ever have been. I am currently sorting DMC threads into one of their five drawer chests having convinced my husband if I spent the rest of my life stitching, I might possibly use-up the contents of half a drawer. He was somewhat alarmed when he saw the price but, as I pointed out, my last big "birthday" -five years ago- cost him three times as much when I fell in love with an iPhone!! Thank you so much for all your entertaining and informative videos, I love to watch you "doing". With gratitude, big hugs and very best wishes - Marion, North Somerset coast UK.

Belated Happy Birthday wishes to you,🎂🥂🥳🥰 Marion, for last week,, I hope you did something nice for your special day. You are 5 years older than me. I'll be 59 sept 5th.
You have made a beautiful job of covering the other side of the tray, It's so good to watch you and your mind working out how to reuse old things, I am pleased Wendy gave it to you, so a pair once more and so tidy, organised and pretty they are, I liked how you slipped the original piece of fabric back it there too, and the secret compartment hehe.😊
The cross stitch of Luke and Naomi is fantastic, I couldn't imagine spending all those hours doing it, but you have made a memory that will always fill your heart with joy and love, and such a great idea to write all the info on the back too.
I look forward to watching you catch up with the other things. You don't have to get all the book done now. We will be happy watching whatever you decide to do. Have a good evening 🤗🌈

The colors of all the threads were a sight for my eyes for sure. The textures all look so yummy together in your lovely, recycled box. I love that you used some of the old fabric under the panel. It went together so well too. That was an amazing picture you cross stitched of your babies, very well done and beautiful. I would have probably gave up or took forever to finish it. LOL. Kudos to you. Thank you for all your amazing projects you share with us. It takes me back to childhood, my mom was always recycling and redoing projects. I think that is the way to go about things instead of filling up landfills with our belongings. Have a great time completing your projects.

Thanks Michelle. It's what I've always done! In the old days 😅 it wasn't seen as cool as it is now.... People used to think I was odd, keeping old stuff etc. Now I'm fashionable at last 🤣

I’m so glad you kept track of the time it took you to stitch the cross stitch photo! And for reference, because we all get told, oh! You should sell your work!… where I live, in Northern California right now, a living wage demands $35 an hour for one person to live in our county. So the hours Marion put into that beautiful piece, would cost $8, 855. Just for her labor if she were to be paid fairly where I live. No supplies or extras. Just labor.
You are an artist Marion… truly beautiful art ❤️

I think I remember working the price out at the time... Only other people who make things realise the time and effort that goes into something like this. At the time a friend offered to pay me to stitch her children. That was until she realised how much the fabric and thread was. Then she thought I wouldn't charge for the work because I enjoyed doing it... Suffice to say I've never sold anything. But I'm happy to give things to people as presents...

Wendy and I did take a lot from our Mam's stash, but it was mainly other types of craft supplies. She didn't really do embroidery. She liked crochet and making clothes.

I have 3 lovely wooden boxes I have had for at least 7 years, would you believe ,I know what I'll be doing with them now 🤗🤗🤗 Some of the plastic thread containers are annoying because they are not clear & I have to open each one to see what's in there !!! Thanx for this brilliant video xxx Problem is ... I have so many threads I will need quite a few more wooden trays .... off to the op shops xxxx take care .... anxiously awaiting the Wednesday vid xx That cross stitch was unbelievable !!!!!!! 🤗🇦🇺😎

Beautiful boxes of treasures, Marion!! I love that you kept pieces of the original incorporated!
I've been doing some thread browsing online and getting so confused with the different naming and sizing of thread, i.e. perle cotton, coton a broder, flower threads, floche, linen threads, crochet cotton, crochet yarn, crewel wool, tapestry wool...probably many more!
Would you consider doing a bit of a comparison video of the weight/thickness of the types of threads you have/use? Or if you already have a video where you talk about this?

Like minds. I use a cutlery tray for some of my threads. Years ago I did lots of cross stitch and did consider doing a photo but I knew it would be far too time consuming for me, as I already had umpteen kits to complete. So, kudos to you for sticking at it and completing yours. Tfs x

Thanks Mary. I must admit cross stitch isn't really my thing, but I thought it would be lovely to do the children. I had to buy the threads a couple at a time because there were so many colours that I just didn't have!
