    If you gonna do pirate hunting, I would highly recommend to do it in the LHS 20 system since The space station Ohm city is right next to low, high and Hazardous extraction sites.

      It's my favourite spot for hunting pirates

    Playing my Commander as a freelance intelligence agent. I am mainly doing data courier and blackbox missions. Along with raiding sites for data/intel and assassination ground missions. Then will pledge to a power at somepoint. At the moment I am taking missions from minor factions, that are some form of intelligence agency. If there are any smuggling or passenger missions that fit my playstyle, I will do those as well.

      That sounds exciting. o7 Commander

      I believe this is a good way to start, because those missions are not the best money makers once you can afford larger ships. Don't hurry and enjoy the game.

    I just bought it and it is downloading on ps4 thanks to you. It's only 5€ special offer. I think I'll play as miner. Cheers man..

    I recently discovered life in the res sites and loving it. Elite I status explorer; Elite II level in trading as well. Can't wait to achieve elite level in combat.

    • @lootandgrind
      @lootandgrind  Год назад

      That's impressive. I'm still working my way toward Elite rank but yeah combat can be very exhilarating

      @@lootandgrind Thanks. I now need to complete the naval grind to one day purchase a 'Vette.
      Never thought I'd own an FDL, or want the corvette being I was anti-combat and all into exploration. But something about sitting amongst the asteroids -- it is very relaxing. Now I have both model Vipers; Vulture; Krait mkII; and FDL to the existing explorer line-up. Thirteen in total.
      Another result is I no longer try and avoid NPC interdictions as now I have the means to fight back. I used to literally shudder when one was imminent. Now, I'm all up in their faces -- with attitude.
      Keep marching toward that elite status as Jameson's Memorial is a one-stop-shop for everything the galaxy has to offer. Just don't jump to it in "open" as the greepers hang at that star 24-7.

    • @lootandgrind
      @lootandgrind  Год назад +1

      @@Tamburello_1994 I've been using an Alliance Chieftain for combat. It can handle pretty much anything so I didn't really need to go for the Corvette. But I am thinking about doing a full engineered build to hunt Thargoids some day
      BTW if you enjoy spending time in asteroid fields, give mining a try. It's my favourite activity

      @@lootandgrind Check. I've been mining once, and still have all the gear and an Imperial Cutter, so I'm good to go. At some point, Being as I want a Fleet Carrier now, I'll endeavor more to do this.
      How do you deal with pirates? Probably the main reason I haven't tried is one seems constantly under threat with your back turned, and zero means to defend yourself..

    • @lootandgrind
      @lootandgrind  Год назад

      @@Tamburello_1994 When you arrive on the mining site, let the pirates scan you first. They will go away when they only see limpets in your cargo. Then start mining.
      But if you leave the game and come back to the same spot, you'll be in trouble. So it's best to sell all the goods before logging off. Or you can equip some weapons to defend yourself. I think the Cutter has enough slots to add some weapons

    Great videos. You really like the game, and look at it as I do. So your recommendations make total sense to me. Subscribed - and glad that I found this channel. 👍

    Thank you for this vid. I am currently just griding datalink megaships for money to get a mining cruise but I didn't even think to look into the outcome of being a explorer. I might just get a nice little scouter ship and see what the milky way might have!

    I started last month and I have really gotten into passenger missions. From taking criminals out of Robigo on site seeing trips to evac missions in thargoid combat zones. Requires a bit of engineering but not much. :)

      That sounds fun. I tried a couple of passenger missions but it just wasn't for me lol

    Some commentary on these activities:
    1 Pirate Hunting: I did this for quite a while, especially one I got an Alliance Challenger. I was able to build it up so I could take out an Elite Pirate Lord in a Federal Corvette 1v1. I still have the Challenger (2 of them now) and they are suited for many roles. One thing to watch is to not take more than one mission within the same system or you may be facing multiple opponents at once.
    2 Exploration: You will come across quite a few systems just doing VIP passenger missions as well as searching for good mining locations. Also one engineer unlock requires going 5000ly away from the starting point (I went towards the edge of the galaxy using my fleet carrier).
    3 Mining: I used my first Challenger for mining before core mining was added, it was ok but lacked cargo space. I do use a Challenger now (2nd one) for core mining and can carry 5 asteroids worth of materials per trip. Monazite or Musgravite seems to pay the best at 600k - 750k per ton generally. Strip mining (using mining lasers) I use a Cutter.
    4 Trader: This is what I did the most starting out. I would take multiple missions and as I finished missions (transport or source/retrieve) I would pick up others. Also I would take data courier missions as well and typically had the max number of missions most of the time. How good of missions you can get depends on your friendlyness with the faction as well as merchant ranking (I just hit Elite V in this).
    5 Freelancer: personally I have not done many of these yet

      Yeah I find it disgusting that that’s how people are doing videos these days. But I found the video fine, gave me some ideas on what to do but I would much rather encourage real people putting real work. They’re not getting à like from me.
