I hate to say it, but I wondered about her casting when the season(1) was starting. I eat my own words. She's does an amazing job as Ellie. I've bought into her 100%.

its not wrong to "wonder" about her casting, i think everyone whos like me and loved the original PS3 version and saw Ellie as someone like Elliot Page back then or Maisie Williams as the movie was being talked about (and hadn't seen far enough into GoT to see Bella as Lyanna and how talented she is) wondered about her casting. it IS wrong to have discounted and/or even hated the decision to cast her purely on looks or anything else on the surface.
💯💯💯 I can see why they say never judge a book by it’s cover. Also, I got so invested so quickly to Sarah. And the way Joel just lost her so sudden shook me. Incredible writing and casting. Bella is an extraordinary actress! Definitely won me over.

episode 8 sold me on Bella as Ellie.
the energy she gave off at the end of it is whats needed for Ellie in season 2. She is much much more vicious and bitter.
She got me at episode 1 and I was REALY sceptical about her as Ellie. But that last scene in episode 8 was just fucking insanly good
how did episodes 1, 2, or 4 not? for me it was the joke book scene in 4 that i was like "yeah, thats Ellie" but the scene in the flooded hotel and the "can't deny that view" scene in 2 were both showing me Ellie.
@@quinnmarchese6313 Yeah she is incredibly great as Ellie, but definitly different from the games, same as Joel, can't say that for worse though. I like that this whole show is different from games because why would you do the same thing twice, it realy complements each other greatly
Like, good actor you recognise by, not seeing the acting, a great actor you recognise by seeing the acting and being amazed by it, and that scene after killing dave or what was his name was just that
Bella is a true artist portraying such an intense character.I am definitely guessing that as soon as Riley turned,Bella shot her.Since Bella didn’t turn?They could have promised that if one “turned”,the other was to kill them.Makes perfect sense to the comment later about having killed before.This show has me SO invested!😅👏🏻👏🏻🙏🏻🖤
Her comedic timing is amazing too. Feels like most things she says is so funny

@@qwerttzizzi it ends similarly in the DLC. In the DLC, it goes back and forth with present day Ellie looking for medical supplies (which is a much longer quest in a mall with infected and cannibals.)

Never played the video game but Bella is just fantastic in her acting ! The episode 8 gave me such goosebumps ! The entire cast of this show is fantastic !!!!
I played the game and I wasn't a huge fan of the casting just because she looked nothing like the character. But she did a great job. My only other complaint was that the show made Ellie more of an ass which I didn't like. They gave her a really a bad attitude. But overall the show was really good, I enjoyed it and I look forward to season 2
I think people like Jay who never played the game need to be experimented on if they watched the show first, which is far less superior than the game, of course. Will they like the show more than the game?
Its sad how Bella was kind of sad when Pedro wasn't around for the two episodes now imagine filming s2 without him :(

Me personally, I have not played the game nor have I watched much game play of it, but from what I have seen... Damn, Bella does an amazing job at playing Ellie. They have amazing acting skills and they deserve so much more love from the fans of The Last of Us. Bella for the win
I loved Bella from her first appearance but episode 8 really wowed me, she really embodied Ellie so well and the ending was just chefs kiss. I can't wait to see Season 2 with the Darker side of Ellie

the show was so good that i played both games right after. I cant wait to see season 2. Bella and Pedro did an amazing job. the 2nd game is action packed and there are so many more battle scenes and new characters, i cant wait to see who plays Abby. i truly hope season 2 honors part 2 of the game. they will need more than 8 episodes to cover the amount of story line in part 2 of the game. i cant wait to see Ellie (Bella) kick ass.

Wasn't sure how she would do as Ellie and while certain parts of the show didn't hit quite as hard as the game. She's killing it. Her being a smart-ass is just amazing.

Part 2 of the game was shit IMO, especially how someone was poorly written out and in such a brutal fashion.

I never saw or heard of the game. I watched because of writer Craig Mazin who wrote the amazing "Chernobyl". And I had seen her in Game of Thrones - she was wonderful in that. Her performance as Ellie is just as amazing. What a talent.

I really disliked the hate that occured toward Bella. She of course does not look 100% like Ellie because Ellie is a fictional character. Bella's acting supersedes all the doubt that was thrown at her, it was quite atrocious how fans reacted initially to her. A sweatheart indeed.

Unfortunately television shows cannot be nominated for Academy Awards (Oscars), just movies. And Grammys are only music related, so the people in charge of the music (song choices and original compositions) can and should be!! But Pedro and Bella (and writers, directors, special effects) should definitely sweep every possible television award!!🎉

I think not showing what happens with Riley makes it more powerful and reflective of trauma. Exactly what happened is a secret that Ellie has buried because she can’t deal with the guilt and sadness of what she had to do to the person she loved.

Here's a thought. Seems to me that most reviewers of "The Last of Us" HBO series presuppose that all of the viewers are officienados of the video game. I am not. I never even knew this series was based on a video game at ALL until I was 2 episodes in. And unless you're a dedicated gamer (no judgement here! You do you!), IT DOES NOT MATTER! This is a very well acted, well plotted series that brings me back episode after episode because I care about the characters. So whether it is "true to the game" or not is irrelevant to me. LOVE this show!!!
I hope season 2 doesn't follow the events the same way as part 2 did in the game. I felt like the biggest moment of the game happened too quickly. I hope we get to see more of Joel and Ellie relationship as father and daughter, rather than getting little flash backs, while showing Abby side of the story leading up to where Last of Us Part 2 starts off.
The walking dead season 7 premiere had 17million viewers, it was the episode where glenn died, then next week 5 million viewers left and never came back, the series never recovered those viewers and never reached those highs again. so i hope HBO makes the right decision with season 2. things can get too sad for viewers and they will definitely leave the show. unlike the game where you have no choice than keep playing.

Since Joel's death is the LITERAL catalyst for the game, I don't think they can reshuffle it. Also, unlike the walking dead, I'm sure the story is strong enough to withstand it.

I wonder has she played the games? Also I feel as she's done a good job as Ellie. The show doesn't have to replicate the game completely and that's okay. Us gamers want to see those connections stay true though, too many shows that butcher the source material like Witcher for example sadly. Can't wait for season 2 hehe.

Episode 7 is super important for Ellie. It was an entire DLC for the game.

Bro why is everyone loving this show, it's the last of us.. minus most things that make that world the last of us.. cgi clickers that look crap and just aren't around in general. Rushed story telling, i don't even remotely feel the bond between Joel and Ellie growing.. it all feels like a wet handshake to me
I seriously don't get what people find how awesome this series is. Any knowledgeable gamer who's played The Last of Us should be cringing. The zombies, makeup, and special effects are horrible. This was produced on the cheap, with zero "scare" factor. What's up with a whole friggen episode devoted to Bill and Frank??? This series is lack luster, at best. Not impressed.
