In a war with a REAL enemy not some poor farmer in afghanistan or Iraq, these aircraft would be first targets...they may aswell have a huge bullseye on the side of the aircraft...as far as I can remember in a 1st world v 1st world war scenario these tankers are usually expended in the first 24 hrs or so

KC-135 is a lot older. The KC-X was only bid out because they wanted something that looked like competition. Boeing I'm sure will produce a good product but yes, Northrup - Airbus never really had a chance. Considering the first round Boeing tried to bribe their way to a deal, they should have been out of the running, but we wanted all American made!
