  • A scuffle broke out in the Taiwanese parliament days before the president-elect, Lai Ching-te, takes office without a legislative majority.

The opposition wants to give parliament greater scrutiny powers over the government, including a controversial proposal to criminalise officials who are deemed to make false statements in parliament. The ruling Democratic Progressive party has accused the opposition of improperly trying to force through the proposals without the customary consultation process in what they call 'an unconstitutional abuse of power'.

When Taiwanese politicians say 'we fight for you' to their constituents they really meant it.

Taiwan has a two-party system, so it is only a party struggle and has nothing to do with the truth of the incident.

      Please be informed:
The real game of expanding powers in the legislature should be to expose arms dealers, the US military, and US military aid programs in the Legislative Yuan. The construction projects in Eastern Taiwan are allowing Chinese funds and personnel to enter the hinterland of our national defense. All of this is paving the way for Xi Jinping's annexation of Taiwan by 2027. From the beginning, this has nothing to do with Taiwan's financial, livelihood, fairness, or justice. This marks the beginning of the second Cold War and a new axis of evil in the East Asian theater. Considering the joint statement issued by China and Russia yesterday, it seems that the activities of CPP around the world are intensifying.

As a Taiwanese, this is insane to see. People are standing up against violence in congress. Besides, this also happened because the party with more people(KMT) and TPP are trying to pass a law that we don’t even know what it is about! However, this law is trying to oppress our freedom of speech and put people in jail if you are considered “contempt of congress” which includes talking back to the congress man and refusing to go to the congress as a person(not limited to citizens). The penalty and definitions are all unclear and whenever DPP( the party with less people) what to open a stage for debate and exchanging ideas. They end the discussion!!! This is insane and we as Taiwanese have to stand up to this to protect our freedom of speech and democracy!!!!

Don’t like the KMT either but over the last eight years, the Democratic DPP has committed numerous disgraceful acts, and they've tried everything to prevent the bill from being passed. Those who have closely followed recent party negotiations know that DPP legislators never seriously read the provisions but merely delayed proceedings with the aim of obstructing the bill's passage. They even proposed 80 different versions of the bill, with each version differing only in punctuation and a few words. Despite their majority in Congress, the DPP failed to deliver on the reforms promised over the past eight years. It's clear that there's no bill that can't be passed, only those that the DPP doesn't want to pass. Holding all the power, they have allowed Taiwan's wealth gap to reach 66 times while deceiving the international community with claims that only the DPP can protect Taiwan's sovereignty, resulting in severe hardship for the people of Taiwan.
