I spent over 50 years refinishing and restoring furniture. Wood is wood and in the mix were many sports car dash boards and parts as well as six Rolls-Royce interiors. The earlier cars had a lot of wood in them and the finish they used on all of them cracked like your Mercedes do. Getting the old finish off wasn't a treat but doable. I polished the finish to a factory finish. Great video. You and Randy are doing well with the less expensive cars but the $125 Bargain Benz will be mighty hard to beat. Thank you.
Had a 94 White wagon, loved it , bought with 99,000 miles , after we wanted a newer wagon both daughters had it and then we got it back with over 200,000. Still miss it, ended up with 3 other wagons before switching to ML’s. Would love to have another one. You will fall in love with it if you fix it up and drive it every day, good luck.
That old beauty deserves your attention, to once more be a statement of Mercedes excellence. I will celebrate with my favorite beverage in your and it's honor.
Your doing a great job Mike , it’s looking great . I don’t doubt it will be a great wagon to own after your done with it ! 👍 The wash alone made a big difference !!
Whoa, those parts were a snip and have transformed the console, nice work Mikey. Looks ten years younger after a wash and new centre grille. Those wheels only need a plastic scourer and a soak with soap/diluted bleach and will come up shining. Looks nice underneath too. I envy you for having the electric steering column adjust, mine is static. Really looking forward to the next instalment.
TE stands for Touring (yes, we Germans probably invented the word; ) with petrol injection ("Einspritzung"). In Germany such a TE was also called a TEE, because we also had a train back then called the TransEuropExpress. Fast and Luxurious (my father remembers that ;) Keep going mike👍
After watching you and Randy record together on Auto Auction Rebuilds, I finally subscribed to your channel! I am so glad I did! Awesome content and freaking awesome cars! You my friend are a total riot!
@MonkeyWrenchMike you seem to be a nice guy but hanging out with the most worthless dude on RUclips, " mandy" , that moron is the worst , at some point I know he's gonna lose all his " credit" lines , I can tell he's gone broke , also he's got the most " punchable" face on y.t. , he's a complete moron !!!!!!!!!
That was great ! Here in Europe you'd get $600 just for the metal scrap value ! But anything that can keep an old car on the road is a great thing. I love these cars ! It will be great to see it brought back up to spec ! Greetings from Prague, CZ
keep it up, for the left quarter panel, make a wood block or (Lowes or home depot) trim molding piece of hard wood. then take a slide hammer a gently pull it back into shape. just a thought
Interesting to see MWM to work on the car especially the interior central consoles...now l too will work on my W124 to change the hazard light..Good job 🎉😂
Another great saga to your fleet MWM , glad your making progress and your smilimg , love to see lola too, will be waiting on one of your cliff hangers to keep everyone up to date , peace .
I really like your video. Just as happens in the real life: Missing parts, bad adaptations etc, but you keep with enthusiasm. So do I with my 32 years young W124. Just starting the restoration. Greetings from Costa Rica!
She's Gorgeous; call her " Gorgeous Gloria" And keep her "bling" on over the wheels, she was born with it and should keep it till the grave !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Love to Lola (and you) from a fan in London. And keep it up.
Loving this series and loving the fact you’re finally getting appreciated, saw you a few years ago on randys account and been watching ever since, thanks Mike!
Try Sonax Full Effect Wheel Cleaner, goes on clear and turns purple as it cleans. Stinky but effective. I buy it in the 5 Litre container, but available in a spray bottle.
Oh, you can call at the grocery getter to pick up your groceries when you go to the supermarket. Oh my God I haven’t seen those parties in a long long time it’s good to see one on the channel what one of those beautiful plastics are not spending their golden years in the junkyard that is super cool, I love it
Between this, the Barbie car and the old 740i, this channel feels like it was made just for me. Love all 3 projects. I think the reason I enjoy this channel so much is that your mechanical skills are about on par with mine. But I have to say, your patience outweighs mine by lots. After I retire (1 more year), going to look into what is required to establish myself at the auctions and start tinkering like you. Keep up the good work Mike...and thanks.
I love this car! I miss WAGONs…. I had a 2015 Accord 5speed I4 and I would have loved it SO much more if it was a wagon.. if they had ever made those…..
Love the progress! As you know, this is a deal despite the theft, driving over boulders or what not. I tried to buy same year in white with a blown trans and they wouldn’t move from 2500. And it needed a front bumper. Love it!
A red scotchbright pad with some wheel cleaner (the iron remover type that turns purple) is pretty good at cleaning off the “gold” from grinding brakes.
Hey Mike I love the video but really need to say thank you for bringing back some memories. I used to watch Dallas also it would come on after my other favorite show Dukes of Hazzard OH THE GOOD OL'DAYS!!
It's looking great Mikey! Just that power wash alone made a huge difference! I'm so looking forward to future videos with this car! I think it's Lola's second favorite car, next to the Barbie mobile.
Great stuff Mike. I think this one will turn out like new when youre done. Just keep on getting original parts, like front bumper, lights etc and you have a cat that never will be sold 😀I will be watching every video, loving the progress...
Mike, the other key that doesn't work in the door lock was probably a replacement ignition switch at some time in it's life. Go to the pull a part and get another ignition switch [ if it has a key in it]. Like the olden days; one key to work the doors, another key to wake the rest of the car.
For the wheels use black magic whitewall tire cleaner, it works amazing on brake dust etched into alloy wheels, with some brush action they will come out really good!
Looks like somebody went to town with a sawzall on the ignition key tumbler! Some tow company employees are totally ignorant on where the tow rope/cable attachment points are on various car makes and models! Is the lower radiator support bar removable? I hope so! Have you tried to find a rear hatch glass for it yet? That might be a bit difficult. She already looks a lot better Mike and great prices on the interior parts!!!! Wow!!!
Mike I am 16 Years old, an my first and least Tatto was A low S124 with the AMG package. And I love your Content, please don't stop with this extreme cool Videos. With happy Wishes from Germany Jonas
Amazing car, love it! I was in the market for a Benz wagon once, and finding a good one here was impossible. For some reason, they were so neglected and trashed beyond belief.
W124 has an over voltage relay behind the battery and plastic cover and ovp has a blade fuse under a transparent plastic cover. I don't know of other problems, but if the fuse is blown ABS light is on all the time. I presume that you know all the problems with W124 wind shield wiper system.
Mike please remove those stupid cup holders on the front door panels 😅
Congratulations on your 1st 100k video!!!!
MWM the Benz Estate should take you to 50,000 subs. Keep it going!!!!!

You cracked me up Mike with the "thank you for your service" comment when you replaced the gas cap. lol Great channel keep up the good work!

UUURRRRA! But, but, but you didn't take us with you to the boneyard ... 😭
Yes Mike needs to take us to the junkyard!!

While it needs a front/rear headlight, rear glass, but for the age, I agree that the body/paint is in quite good condition!

All the wagon needs is a nice set of AMG wheels. Dope car!!
