This is a really well designed and constructed pop top camper. The construction method offers great strength and a light weight structure. I have not seen any trailer as well designed and built as this, and given the use its had, it still looks really great. This is inspirational, I don't doubt that many potential builders will be really taken with your camper and want to make their own.
Great walk around. Thank you guys for sharing with us. Out here in AZ we have some serious dust issues :) I would definitely get rid of the steps, as it would be easier to have a small step stool that folds out from the interior of your trailer and is out of the way when hitting the trails.
That’s awesome brotha!! For what people try to charge for these campers, it’s so smart to build your own. More power to the people! Over landing and camping is about adventure not $$. Unfortunately, Camper companies now be trying to charge ridiculous amounts for these campers. I’ve seen them go for $30k new. Especially the “brand name” ones!!
Have you drawn up a version with the extended bed and slide out kitchen? I like your idea for more bed length. At 6'2" I can't sleep across adventure trailers. Dust: in the military we use overpressure air to keep chemicals and dust out of combat vehicles. Serious door/window/hatch seals and good fan with exceptional filtration would give you that internal pressure to keep the dust out.
Sweet build ! Does having the axle so far back give you an advantage when off road ? Does the increased tongue weight have any affect on the steering when on road ?
Having the axle far back keeps it from swaying while on the road. You want approximately 60% of the weight in front of the axles, and since this has the kitchen, battery etc at the back the axle needed to be further back to be balanced properly
14:46+ Crossing the bridge with the side steps self deployed... Yikes! 3/4 plywood, screws, fiberglass cloth, steel frame... and people thought it was going to fall apart!???
Junk? I don't think so. Go look at some of these campers that are $30,000 and more. They're junk. This is a solid build. I'd like for him to build me a camper. There's a few modifications I'd want him to do but he knows what he's doing.
Thats the best shower enclosure ive ever seen! Love the rifle case too
Yeah probably shouldn't be a rifle case though imo. You pull up, unhook, and go explore someone might try to break in that case
Excellent wood-working skills. The exterior looks so good, it appears mass produced / manufactured. Thanks for showing us this smart camper trailer.

Really well designed very nice and well area's of sleeping quarters so good I wish I could buy one.
Yeah I have same problem 3 kids. many thanks for sharing!
Very cool build! I’ve built a camper trailer from the ground up myself, so I know how much work is involved! My hat’s off to this guy!
He's put a TON of work into it!
I absolutely love that style trailer..I have the same family size.
It's ideal for a family like his!
He should be proud, that's a great trailer!
It really is. His family is lucky!
AMEN on his comment about family sizes...what happens if you have more than 1 kid haha! love it
Shower is great idea. Cool i love the whole thing

Thanks! The dust out in Utah, Arizona, and Colorado is really bad! I think the North Maine Woods had some of the worst I've ever been in.
love that track saw
I love it. Excellent job. I'm impressed of its simplicity and and functionally
That shower is impressive!
It's really nice on the hot and dusty trips!
I agree. I wouldn't think it's possible. He could sell those and quit his day job. It's such a clean setup
Great job. Outside the box. You rock.
Too bad this guy doesn't build these. I'd buy one.
Sweet build, see you out there.
That would be cool mounted on the back of a mini pickup
That's a sweet setup. Very impressed!
It really is. I'm jealous of how easy Wes' setup is, and how comfortable he is in the cold!
Fully glassed plywood is tough stuff. Swamp boats and outdoor loudspeakers are built that way and last quite a long time.
Great build!
Great video and love the camper.
Thanks!

I've seen them go for more than that too!
Revere Overland I heard patriot campers charges $50-$60k for some that’s all decked out! That’s Crazy.

The plans are for these dimensions only, but they’re easily extended. I know that several people have adapted them to put a slide-out kitchen too.
I buy the shower idea just for the rifle case! That's genius and manly good looking! :)
Great looking trailer
Love the popup!
Awesome build
I love the clapbacks 😂👏
I need to go this route, it's tough to find a camper for larger families
Pop top is well worth doing for younger families! If you've got older kids, a RTT isn't a bad addition to a regular teardrop.
Have a look at the South African companies - Echo, Conquer, Bush Lappa ect
Actually picked up an aluminum trailer shell. We'll probably be building one.
A remedy for your step is get the ones that fold inside your door.
Love the shower

This is just an odd idea. Would something Bluetooth help in raising the top up be a good idea?
There seens to be similar caravans in Australia.?

Do ball hitches ever run into limitations off road?
It’s a lunette and pintle hitch, rather than a ball hitch
This video would be so much better if you did't have the tall dorky guy with a funny accent in it.
You're not tall
Revere Overland exactly Rob....exactly.
But you're the only dorky guy with a funny accent!
SHAWИEE HILLS WORKSHOP well done tall dorky guy. I loved watching your build. I may build my own version of that shower. It’s super smart!
How much does your build weigh?
10:56 is that the same person who owns this camper??? DAMN mate you look better now! How the hell did you do it??
No, lol. That’s a different guy!

10:30 running low on that blinker fluid
Well spotted. I’ll top it off!
He needs a roll cage for over landing drive ways to protect it from garage hits
External slide rails.. just sayin.. mine unbolt to access tires etc..
Aye I live in kentucky
Take those steps off and use removable steps.
Too high center of gravity.
Plus... You guys are young, rough it a little! That trailer would be nice for your grandma.
Uhm no...good on you for ingenuity but no..
Too heavy
For what? A motorcycle?
Are you South African? Your accent reminds me so much of Elon Musk.
