A service right before a BIG road trip is always a good idea! I dont believe all the fluids are necessary unless you know your vehicle is going to burn some but that's totally up to you. Basic tools are a must thought! Great video!
I would recommend anyone buy a good compact heavy duty jack. Instead of the jack that comes with most vehicles. Ive personally had 2 of those jacks he showed twist on me when the car wasnt on the most ideal level ground.
I always take a trolley jack, and some jack stands and an electric impact with a socket for my lugs. Also just replace your belt and keep the old one in you trunk as a spare.
We drove to FL every year to see inlaws always drove older cars(14 hour's) so took the same thing and antifreeze l had a small Rubbermaid container that everything sat upright on. Came in handy a few times. Rented a new rogue last year and check engine light came on no Enterprise close by so took it to AutoZone ,ox sen. Code. They cleared it drove in FL. Week and home never came back. So you don't know when you're going to need something even if you have a new vehicle.
Good advice. I have most of that. I’ve got a 2020 Jeep Renegade it has no spare just a device that seals and fills air. There is a spot for spare considering getting one
My brother inlaw has a 2019 Renegade and he is in the same boat thinking about getting a spare. If I see any at a junk yard I'm getting it for him lol. I think spare tires are needed 100%
These were basically covered, but even in daily driving, I always insist on a spare tire, tools/jack to change tire, tire inflator, jumper cables(or jump box), and tow strap mainly for winter. I've heard people say they don't have jumper cables because they don't know how to use them, but I say in many cases there will be someone around who will that could lend a hand.
If you have automatic transmission fluid you have power steering fluid I carry a bunch of tools, but when it comes to something like an alternator or belts, most likely you need to visit the auto parts store. Buy the tools at the auto parts store. Also when I replace something like a belt or hose and I don't destroy it , jam it behind the spare tire. I know it fits
One thing ill tell you with those small inflators, let them cool after ever tire if you have to fill more than one cause 9 times out of 10 the con rods are plastic and snap easily.
What’s up 🆙 Ernest; My name is Doug , been looking through your videos , there pretty cool videos!!! I’m sure another person said water , already’ but what got me out of a jam is JB . Weld , the putty there is two different kinds . I had the one for water 💧 where the heater hose connects to that plastic piece . Oh what’s it called? Anyway blew a hole 🕳 in it water 💧 going everywhere! Mixed up some putty, covered it all around , added some water down the the road I went !!
If you check your fluids weekly or even monthly, you shouldn't need to take all those bottles with you unless you know you have an issue. For me: I have an aluminum jack and hockey puck, 1/2" battery impact with various size sockets for lug nuts, flares, tarp, tire inflator, OBD2 scanner, tire plug kit, portable jump starter pack, first aid kit, bottled water, gloves, extra socks.
My old lady hates when I have to save room for the tools in the van. I have car tools that do not leave the vehicle. Jack, bag of tools, oil, coolant, wd40 and a breaker bar. Can you guess what I drive 🤣
Ernest is partially correct. The most important thing you can do on a road trip so you do not have to worry about what he is talking about and suggesting is to have your car checked over by a mechanic or if your handy do it yourself. Check all your belts, hoses, transmission, clutch, tires, breaks, complete electrical system "including charging", and check the engine with an advanced diagnostic scan tool especially if it is a newer car and you will not have any problems.
That’s not always a guarantee. We took a road trip and the serpentine belt went out 800 miles from home. We always tune up before we travel. It’s Always a good idea to have tools with you.
do you recommend carrying a 5 gallomn gas jug filled with gas? i’ve seen some cars travel with that in the back of their trucks or strapped to the trunk door in place of the spare tire
Not unless your planning on going off road. Maybe a smaller one. But just be cautious of your fuel lever. That’s something that is easy to control. :) great ideas and of course it wouldn’t hurt.
One thing to be cautious of when carrying a gas can of modern ethanol blend is that it has a shorter shelf life (less than a year). You might be better off buying a can or two of "pure gas" from a hardware store for emergency back up use.
I would add Coolant to the list, maybe water and warm clothes? In case of breakdown in the middle of nowhere

i carry these all the time in my car not just for road trips
Best videos on RUclips only channel I can only watch every upload man love it good work!!
Awesome video. I used to work for AAA light service and I 100% agree with everything this man says here
When changing a serpentine belt I always put the old belt in the spare tire well
Great informative video sir.... That red any size belt that u have is called a fractional horse power belt, FYI lol
Great Video Man! You Pretty much covered it all!

doesn't surprise me that the light came on, it's a Nissan.
Prob loose gas cap.
I actually work as an emergency medical courier and I often times go up to 300 miles... So I just bring all my tools with me!

If I get a flat tire I like to jack up the wheel off the ground and then use the air pump so as not to stress it so bad

I drive a classic car, I dont leave the house in it without tie wraps..saved my arse a few times, handy things..!!
Thank you for your information

What about some road flares?
Very informative, but at my age triple A rules ! But back in the day......😁
AAA is awesome.
When I go on a trip I carry a lot of that stuff too but the one thing I make sure of is I carry a air pump and a plug kit for the tires

My problem is usually that when I go on a road trip I have no room left for a tool box...
Panty Hose for your emergency belt. Just make sure you run around water pump and alternator. < belt broke literally 1 mile from place I was going.
Thanks for all the tips, Is this all okay to keep in my vehicle in -40Cish weather? I live in Canada.
The batteries are the only thing the cold will hurt. Id keep a jump pack in the house and bring it to the vehicle when youre using it.
Finally one of the first comments!! Great videos!!
Yay! Thank you!
Thanks 👍very helpful

Anybody else agree that the duralast tool set is good quality? Really debating on purchasing it. Unless there’s something more worth that money

Does all your stuff stay on the shelf when you are driving? Apparently it does ...
yes
I take turns real slow!
Where could I find one of those Utah wrench long sleeves?
On the tee springs store. Ill make sure one is visible below the videos as well.
Yeah check the spare. Had a tire go flat went to put the spare on and it was flat
Yeah that happens ALL THE TIME!!! People NEVER check their spares- if they even have them any more.
Good video
Thanks
What is that silicone spray you use on everything?
nice!
Thanks!
Would you recommend a gps that doesn't rely on wifi? Just in case
my AAA card
With all this "stuff " there's no room for vacation stuff.
Go figure!!
Hell yeah rather have it and not need it, then need it and not have it
👍👏
Carry a breaker bar
In your pocket
triple AAA, you don't need to pack any tools
It's always better to have knowledge and be self sufficient rather than depend on someone to help them.
and waiting hours for them to show up. but its a great backup or for someone who isn't inclined to do any vehicle stuff themselves.
My sister has used them before. Waited over an hour on the side of a highway in 100+ degree heat. Yeah......
How about just do a pre-trip check up? Fill up all the fluids and tires pressure checks instead of loading up half your garage in a trunk.
Because stuff happens
totally. Im going to make a separate video for that one.
