I usually do not like remakes..but the story "Like Water for Chocolate" has always been extraordinary!! The book by Laura Esquivel is outstanding! The original movie is Fantastic...I'll be watching and trying not to compare...but this looks good!!
RIGHT?! As long as it's being done right, I'm all for it. As a series, we'll be able to see more of what's happening with Tita in the kitchen which will be magical.
I remember the original movie being a big influence on myself and a few other chefs at the beginning of our careers. The shots of traditional food being prepared were stunning.
I'm so torn. The original movie is PERFECTION and I cannot imagine a re-telling, but the story is so breathtaking and vast that I also want to see it expanded. I'm so torn!
I watched 3 episodes so far and I like that not only did the miniseries added more depth to their relationship but also to Pedro's character. And the spicy scenes are just 🔥, but the 1990s version has more of the late 1800s and early 1900s feel to it. But overall, the series is just amazing and I can't wait to see more.
Am I the only one that’s excited about how faithful this seems to the book?! So many scenes are EXACTLY as I imagined when I read it. Can’t wait to watch!
I was always fascinated by the mother in the original movie (haven't read the book yet) and I hope they'll show more of her and her backstory. She's an intriguing villain, because she feels real.
I'm so glad they made this. Thanks Salma! I remember watching the original movie with a very good friend when i was about 19. I wont forget the tears in the food. It left an impact on me.
when i read this as an assignment for english class in high school, i was skeptical. read the book and fell in love with it! then my teacher signed us off on watching the movie and fell in love with it more! this was such an amazing novel and i'm excited for what this new show is going to do!
I despise Pedro with all my heart Spoiler: - He is far away in most difficult moment of Tita’s story, when she moves on with life he ruins her and in the end he makes her a mistress for life. It doesn't seem like love, but rather sick possession. - Doctor john ❤❤❤
IM LITERALLY OBSESSED! I have watched the OG book ONE THOUSAND TIMES for sure! I have the book and now I’m going to anxiously await this new adaption. I’m not exaggerating when I say, this is literally a comfort movie. IM SO EXCITED!
I saw all 5 episodes, and it was the best I seen. I hope there are more to come. I'm Hispanic and growing up I used to watch novelas and be excited for the next episode but this made me go back to falling in love with a story.
One of the few instances when I'm not annoyed by a remake, prob because it's a different form, it's been a long time and the source material is excellent.
There seems to be a lot of cultural context that the global audience will miss. I really hope that the viewer gets to experience this in its full glory.
One of my all-time favorite books and movie! I’m not against remakes but why take a movie that was near perfection and remake it? Why not take a crappy movie and make that great? The original Pedro was gorgeous!😍 I will watch this, but wash it down with the original movie afterwards. Leave perfection alone, please.
I remember reading the book in high school (practically the only positive experience from our Spanish literature class), oh the amount of begging the class had to do to make the teacher continue reading with us
@@johannawigg6921 I just recommend it to a friend and she absolutely loved it. Well made movies with original stories (novel adaptations) cast not necessarily by blockbuster actors but with the actors who fit the roles etc. why remake them? It’s just so annoying to me
I JUST rewatched the original today and had no idea there was a remake coming out. My mom just told me she saw this trailer today! Oh my god I can’t wait for this to come out I’ve always loved this story so much
OMG what?! I love the original movie so to be honest I think this will be interesting as a TV series. I just hope it's just as good as the original movie. I definitely need to read the book now!
This is extremely similar to a children’s novel called “Baker’s Magic” where a girl realizes she can bake her feelings into anything she makes. It reads like the princess bride. So if you’re interested in stories like that I totally recommend you check it you.
great book, but i hated that weasel Pedro and stopped feeling sorry for Tita when she decided she'd rather be Pedro's side-piece instead of marrying the kind doctor.
What I am seeing is a split view between viewers who saw the movie and their reaction with the adaptation. If I am correct, what viewers dislike about the adaptation has to do, with the bleaching of the characters, the setting, and the story. They're arguing that the movie in 1993 felt authentically Mexican, whilst this adaptation, whilst it has legitimate Hispanic actors, feels less genuine, geared towards a skewed perception of Northern Mexican culture, and colorism (choosing light skinned Mexicans over then dark peers with European features, then Mestizo or indigenous features). Whilst HBO claims that it is for a Spanish speaking audience and perhaps English speaking audience as well, it has a lot of short comings and flaws which disappoints most Mexican viewers. Even though Salma Hayek is the producer of this new adaptation, they feel as if it is a water down version for an English speaking audience with an unrealistic perception of what Mexico even is. Of course I don't claim that is the case, just mere speculation.

Mention the first movie name also.
This looks faithful to the book and the original movie. No messaging...just an amazing story!
@@KarmeshMadhavi The 1992 movie uses the same title as the book and this remake.

Agreed! Am too excited for this ❤

I can relate although I am not a professional chef but I have been told my cooking tastes different when I am sad.
I'm so torn. The original movie is PERFECTION and I cannot imagine a re-telling, but the story is so breathtaking and vast that I also want to see it expanded. I'm so torn!
SAME
Well, why can't you enjoy both if this turns out to be good?
Indeed ,nothing like the original movie, that was perfection in every way !
A duplicate is never better !

Are the episodes still ongoing?
Read the book, watched the movie, and wasn't sure what to expect out of this, but now I'm excited! Looks very promising!
I have not even thought about this movie in decades. I loved it and cant wait to see this.
This was my mom's favorite movie; she would've loved this upcoming series
My Spanish class in Highschool went to see the original movie as a field trip.
I was always fascinated by the mother in the original movie (haven't read the book yet) and I hope they'll show more of her and her backstory. She's an intriguing villain, because she feels real.
Read the book!
OMG I love this type of story. Pure suffering and love story.

Totally agree. Pedro gives me Armando vibes from Betty La Fea...
That is why it is important to love yourself first. Ppl who do would not put themselves in that position.

If Pedro doesnt have a Hater... Im dead... Team Brown always!
here I am one, Pedro is the most stupid man I had ever seen, who is Brown the doctor?
How could anything be better than the original?
This didn't need a remake. The original is perfection.
Suuuushhhhh we love it
SALMA MI MUJER, TE AMOOO!!!
I like how every trailer goes from begining to happy to sad to dangerous and ends
First foreign language film i fell in love with…
I always love what salma makes
One of my Top Ten books. The original 1992 film was sublime.
Name of the movie please?
I saw all 5 episodes, and it was the best I seen. I hope there are more to come. I'm Hispanic and growing up I used to watch novelas and be excited for the next episode but this made me go back to falling in love with a story.
I’m only halfway through the trailer and I’m already thinking to myself. Holy crap this is gonna be a work of art.

Devastated that Max is not available in Australia and I can’t watch it 😭😭😭

I'll have to read the book again...
I've read it four times and once in Spanish. I have never gotten tired of this story.
I’m sorry but the 1992 cast is just perfection and I highly doubt this new adaptation will be better.

It’s my favorite romantic movie. It didn’t need a remake.
At this point it is a competition between Netflix's 100 Years of Silence and HBO's Like Water for Chocolate. Let's see, who does it better?
I have been wishing for a remake of this Beautiful love story I hope it lives up to the Original.
My favorite book in literature class

OH MY GOD YES this was alwaysssss one of my favorites
Uffff se ve todo precioso 🥰🥰🥰🥰
I cannot believe this . I cried so much reading the book.
This is a good movie. I can't wait to see the newer version. Even the movie Simply Irresistible took aspects from this movie.
Actually I think this a series which is better because they can probably be more accurate to the book then the movie

This is Como agua para chocolate by Laura Ezquivel, known for her magical realism. I recommend reading it!! It was published in 1989
Ya mostraron todo en el teaser 😂😂
Not at all😂 totally worth watching - well the original film is
I loved the original movie, I might give this a try!
At first I thought Ana de Armas as Tita. Am I the only one that sees the resemblance?
THAT'S WHAT I SAID
I do!! She's like her Mexican twin sister.
It’s just exquisite I love it!!! Will show this to my daughter when she’s older perfect to watch!!
Such a great book.
This looks fvcking phenomenal, can't wait! Definitely need to read the book too!
great book, but i hated that weasel Pedro and stopped feeling sorry for Tita when she decided she'd rather be Pedro's side-piece instead of marrying the kind doctor.
They better have that long blanket in it or else I'll be very upset
I love this book and loved the original film. This looks like it's going to be good 📽️
I read this book when I was probably nine years old. Looking forward to seeing this.
The Water for Chocolate HBO series is exxxtraordinary and fantastic! I highly, highly recommend it.

A lot of us are what you call Light skin hispanics, NOTHING wrong with that.
I loved this book, so I’m glad they are adapting it again
I was planning on reading this last week and here it is...
Just for the trailer, there is two cast mistakes: the actress performing Mama Elena looks very young, Regina Torné was great in the movie.
yet shes 50, it might be because botox and skin treatments were not as popular in 1991
I cannot wait to watch this.
Gran historia.
Loved the first episode! Such a true telling of cultural influences on the life’s of people.
I’ve always loved this book!
This is one of my favorite books everrrr!! So excited!,,,
The book and original movie are both beautiful ❤
Duuude this is one of my fave rewatches... I hope they don't ruin it ❤ Looking forward to see the movie in a new light though
Gorgeous film, ... absolutely loved it. Pure inspiration. 🥰
Hmmmm, IDK about this version only time will tell, but it sure makes me want to see the original one again.
Me encantooooo
I hope they don't ruin it 😢 so far, the previews don't look bad but I hope they don't ruin the story. The original, book and movie, are already great.
This looks so good!!
Oh okay this looks AMAZING.
I LOVED reading this book and I’m so happy it looks like they really leaves into the magical elements of the book, I’m so excited for it!
I was looking to see if I could stream the original and happened to see this. Even though it is a remake I am excited. It looks good.
I literally first thought it was Zooey Deschanel playing the main character 😅
I was NOT ready for that
I trust Selma not to mess this up! Can’t wait ❤
Omg 😍😭🤯 This looks SO GOOD!
All i can think if is the ballet version lol
I love the book and original film.
This does look promising! It's a wonderful story and food movies are my favorite.
I love the original movie of like water for chocolate
The book and movie where a master piece! The original movie was shot in my home town.
Are the episodes still ongoing?😢 ؟؟؟؟
Yes it is. There’s a new episode every Sunday
Season one has ended I think, but it's been renewed for a season two
The original movie blows this away
I'm re-reading the book!
Read the book when I was 14 years hope dey a good job
I have watched the original version and I thought that this deserves a modern remake for the modern audience. Thanks MAX!
Wow I read this book in highschool! I hope it lives up to it 😅
Omg wow what? This is my teenage years come true lol
