i think after meeting taggie he finally felt like he found a purpose for himself again like he found a push to be better. in the beginning of the season he's shown as someone who doesn't care how his actions affect anyone else but every time taggie is upset over something that happened or something he did rupert goes out of his way to do everything he can to make up for it and also he's the only person in taggie's life that is completely encouraging and who believes in her potential. i really like them, i hope there is a season 2
@@onlineuser252 So well said! And for Taggie, Rupert makes her finally feel seen and heard. His support and encouragement gives her confidence to grow and break out of her shell, and come out from the shadows of her family dynamics!
Beautifully put. I think she also is the only one who doesn't buy into his "suave womanizer persona" and even detests it. Instead she likes who he is really is. They start getting closer, when he drops his mask with her. I also feel that he can't believe that someone likes the real him. No witty combacks and sleezy flirting. I also love the scene when she finds out about what he did for Charles.
Maud was kinda annoying I can’t lie. The entire season I was struggling to understand why she was so frustrated by her whole life and while I do understand why Declan’s decisions made her bitter… Idk. I think she was a bad mother imo and an ok partner. But Declan is interesting because he too was never home from what Maud said
@@Sam-0827 she was a famous actress and then declan's career took over and her parts dried out. so it's that loss of status and purpose as well as her beauty fading as she gets older. i think a lot of women feel the same frustration when having children leads to giving up a successful career to support their husbands but as she's not really a present mother, she just does what she can to stay in the center of attention and it just so happens that she has a pathological need for the attention of men. imo neither her or declan are good parents and maud is just an example of a very selfish and neurotic person
@@onlineuser252yes to all of this….adding more her problem with her marriage (one of) is her not being Declan center of attention 24/7, she needs validation at all times from men specifically but the problem she needs to validate herself from herself.
So well done - love this! The irony of Rupert starting the whole franchise bid idea to keep Taggie close to him and all it did was steer him straight towards Cameron!
I’m not lying when I say that three days ago I had never heard of this show. All it took was a photo, one still from the dance, his hand on her lower back and I had to drop everything and check it out. The slow burn it brilliantly made
There are only a few female characters that I feel like they can stand their own, and who is not “not like other girls”, “pick me” or “play hard to get”. Taggie is one of them. She’s so genuine and is not afraid to share her true feelings. It’s rarely I see a female character to genuinely reciprocate the attention she’s getting from her love interest. She’s so cute and lovable. I can see why Rupert instantly falls for her ❤️ she’s a gem 💎
But no one noticed the loooooooooong staring at her when she goes back in the kitchen?? After the dance, while Sara is talking to him and him doesn’t even care because the only things he thinks about is Taggie, running away from him. Well I think that is the exact moment when he realizes he’s gonna fall in love 😍
What strikes me is that throughout the series all the kisses that appear on screen are terrible except for this one. That kiss was the only one that I could FEEL it was actually a good kiss
Their story line are even less in the novel than in the film, most of the first 40 chapters are Cameron vs Tony, Declan and other characters revolving around the franchise, their appearances are only fleeting, but In the movie, they did it a little more, but for me it's still not enough. I see that in the last 5 chapters of the novel, they only appeared a lot to end the story quickly, hopefully ss2 their storyline there will be more pls 🙏
I read this reply and when I started Rivals again (after 20 years I’d say!) I was waiting for chapter 41! It was so lovely to have them in chapters actually getting to know each other. We could all see and feel their love and it still took pages and pages before they got together! It will be odd to see how they make season 2 as they kissed when they’d only got to the next round of the franchise. The book was right at the end! I must admit I loved the Taggie on the screen, showing a stronger woman than she ever portrayed in the book.
I honestly did not like the mom at all. Taggie and her sister deserve more than her as a mother and Declan deserves better after literally being so faithful to her.
I went into the show not knowing anything about the books and thinking I would hate Rupert and like David Tennants character but it totally reversed and really ended up liking Rupert’s character and hating David tennants
In the 9 books after this he cheats on her once, in the 10th book of the series, over 20 years in to their marriage and its part of a very complex storyline where he is struggling because he thinks she’s having an affair, but she isn’t. By the end of book 11 they have been happily married for over 25 years.
'being jealous of your own daughter is disgusting' hang on, what?????? ofcourse the mum should be livid if a similar aged guy is going after her daughter?? its yuck af
This would have been valid if, in the show it is specifically shown, that the mother tried to sleep with him multiple times, and the minute he says he wants her daughter and not her, then all of the suden, she has a problem with it. Also she had no problem with the fact, that he groped her before this. But i understand your reaction, it is completely valid.
I don’t think they are toxic just, these things don’t happen in real life. A womanizer like him will never change AND if she is smart enough, she will get away from him.
She makes him softer, and he makes her stronger.

@onlineuser252 I agree, both of them were very absent parents from what I saw.

I laughed when he signed his full name including job title on the Valentine's day card. Definitely kept his promise.
he loves her DOWNNNNNN he improved so much because of her.
The captions for each scene are so real
I haven’t fangirled over a tv show couple like this since I was 15 and was watching the vampire diaries…
SAME! I was so obsessed with Klaroline and never ever got this giddy over a couple again, but these two did it❤

“Why did they think this was from a college boy” lolol right
GURL dat scene where he tucked her to bed, so wholesome and pure IKENAT
It's funny when you say " this dog is a paid actor" because he really is 😂
The wait for season 2 is killing meee 😩❤
When its gonna release?

This has to be THE BEST video yet. ❤
Great edit thanks- this story is so touching. I love the way the actors pulled this off, so well acted, in the quiet moments especially ❤
Thank you so much!
The way he bites his finger yearning for her
This is the video that made me watch this show. It's a great video and a great show! 👏🏼👏🏼

Slower than turtle

He is actually super duper scary I am 20 and if a grown man acted like this I would find a rest restraining order
Womp, womp…
Pick me spotted@@Cherry-rg6hm
Yeaa..is this suppose to be romantic? 😝
I kinda agree
You're 20 and use the term "super duper"? 🤣🤣🤣
Waiting 7 episodes waa torture but worth it
If I didn't know the story, I'd think her was her dad. 🤣
Nauuuwwww
Im going to cry i love the characters so much
The mother part really😂😂😂
I need more of them right now!💗💗💗
You're back🎉🎉🎉
Someone with an undeveloped prefrontal cortex and a middle-aged man, a match made in heaven.
Oh...God I can't wait for the season 2
Thank you for this! I’ve watched the show three times!
Glad you enjoyed it!
The biting of the knuckle for Taggie. Gonna get even betta come Season 2.

i usually hate age gap shit but ill make an exception
Make sense since they are the actual romantic love leads of this series
The hug that you need right now,you are really Emily in crisis😂😅

How much is the age gap between the characters because the guy looks so much older than the girl. He looks like her mother's age.
