I just got a 260S for $30, which is the same as yours but in a slim case. I put a GeForce GT 730 and an SSD It has 6GB of ram and an i3 clocked at 3.3GHz. It's for my granddaughter to use with her drawing display tablet. It works flawlessly.

Awesome! Glad you found a use for one of these ex-office machines. They really are cheap and great for anyone on a budget or for younger people who don't need a powerful workstation.

very cool video! Liked and subscribed. I found this exact pc laying on the curb! It's dirty. I'd like to do exactly what you did here as a project to learn more about computers. Then I plan on buying some cheap parts to upgrade it. I'd love to know more of the cleaning process you used here. It looks like you're spraying some kind of liquid on the motherboard. Please share the product info as I'd like to give this a shot. Also that black mat you are using, is that for grounding? And If you're also willing to share about removing the thermal paste and reapplication, I'd really appreciate knowing your process and any tips as well. Thanks so much for this content!

Hi Philip! Glad you enjoyed the video👍 The liquid that I am using to clean the motherboard is 99% Isopropyl alcohol, This is great for cleaning electronics as it evaporates quickly and is safe for motherboards. The black mat that I am using is not a special grounding mat, however I was wearing an anti static wrist strap to prevent any static discharge onto any components. As for thermal paste, I personally use Artic MX4 as it is cheap and performs well. For removal I usually use some paper towel soaked in IPA ( Isopropyl alcohol ) and some cotton buds. Best way for reapplication is a dot in the middle of the CPU so that when the cooler is screwed down it spreads evenly. If you are looking for upgrades the biggest upgrade you could make would be an SSD, This will make the system A LOT more responsive. Since this video I have installed 16gb of DDR3 ram, a GT 1030 GPU, a 1TB Crucial SSD and a Intel Core i5 2500 CPU. This makes the PC a great gaming pc easily pulling over 60fps on max settings, 1080p in titles like CSGO.

@@CaptainJRW Hey thanks for the timely response and all the info! I definitely will be ordering an SSD soon, as the hard drive on this 260 is only 100 GB! I also saw another guy was successful in getting 16 GB of RAM despite Dell's saying the MOBO supports 8 max. So I'm looking forward to this project. I'll definitely be cleaning it up first though with your tips. Thanks again!

These old Dell's can really be tanks! I ended up drilling out the HDD caddy as it only has a few rivet holding it in, then I could install a full size GPU. These machines can also handle up to 16GB of DDR3 1333Mhz Ram as well.👍

Max gpu for these is anything that will run from PCI-E power, and anything PCI-E 2.0 and under.

For gaming I'd probably throw in a separate GPU, maybe a GT1030 if you are on a budget. And at least upgrade the RAM to 8GB.
