  • in this video i explained ATX power Supply with Active PFC HP DPS-240 - Working Explained & Repair / Troubleshooting . this computer PSU is 110v to 220v auto power supply. active power factor correction circuit is used to maintain 365 vdc even the input voltage are 110 or 220. it will boost the dc rail voltage so that the pwm controller IC will just have to regulate output voltage. How to repair computer ATX switch mode power supply SMPS very easy. this PSU is using uc3845 TL494 LM339 active PFC controller and also i discussed smps basics. after watching this video you can capable to:-

    Will active PFC compensate for a sudden voltage drop in the AC mains from ~ 230/220 Volts to ~ 100/110 Volts? Seems like it will, while stressing the inductors a bit more.

      every PFC circuit have its limitations. it depends on the design. normally it covers this range

    Hi . Can you cover the case where the +5vsb is good and the output turn on but then shut down immediately . Could this be because the supervisor IC monitoring the outputs is shutting down the PSU. This makes it difficult to troubleshoot . In this case can you disable the output monitor circuit to prevent it shutting down the PSU when you connect the green wire to OV so that that you can troubleshoot the problem ? A video covering topic would be very helpful because i think this is a relatively common fault case

    Hello, Thank you for your video :) .I have a 1600 watt power supply that is not outputting 5V from pin8 (PGO) of ST9S313 ( which is a PC POWER SUPPLY SUPERVISOR ) . All other voltages of the 24 pin connector are ok.
    I can't get the IC or equivalent, can I just bridge 5v from anywhere on the board to this pin ( it is pin5 on ( the grey wire ) on the 24 pin connector. Thank you in advance.

      yes you can make bypass. i suggest to use LM339 comparator IC to generate PGO, so when 5 volt will available it will provide a true signal. it is more good and much safe for PC safety

      @@HaseebElectronics I managed to get WT751002 which is a power supervisory chip equivalent to ST9S313, but whhen I measured the IC input voltages there where no PGI , and all other voltages to the chip where ok , i guess that means that the problem is not with the chip. Right? what supplies the PGI to the chip? do you have schematics or any hint please? I work with GPUs this is my first time to work with PSU :) Or could it be a bad chip shorting the PGI input! your help would be appreciated.

    I have 700 watt PSU. 5 volt is OK. When shorting green wire with ground the psu start for second then turn off. All thr voltage except 5 volt down to zero. What could be the problem. Optocoupler faulty?
