Mr Haseeb: This was an amazing demonstration of faults within ATX Power supplies. I found this very interesting and your explaination was outstanding. Thank you again for the time you invested in these wonderful videos!!!!
I want to take an old ATX power supply and follow along for training. Thank you for the video and including the scope! I'm not sure if you mentioned it, but the scope should be isolated from the mains power and ground via an isolation transformer if possible or use care not to destroy the probe, scope, yourself, or all three! I'll watch this again when I get everything set up. LOVE the light bulb idea. I test every unknown device this way. I use a 1000 watt light bulb with motors with unknown large transformers. Great as always! 🙌
Nice tutorial brother, Thank You!! I used 2-4 'mini dc voltmeters' instead 1 multimeter, so I can monitor various voltages in the same time. Just a litle trick

I hope I don't get taken the wrong way. I mean this in a good way. There is short (as in short circuit or a short person, etc.) And then there is chard which is a type of beet, a vegetable. Short rhymes with sport, abort, distort, etc. Chard rhymes with hard, card, etc. Say "short circuit" and "chard circuit" and see which one is the one you mean. Just being helpful here. You are a wonderful human being and I know you won't take this the wrong way. I have a hard time saying "h". I say "itch". It is not. It is more like "ache" as in having a tooth-ache rhyms with rage, age, page and not "itch" as in scratching an itch. :-)
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 it is accent, as i am pakistani national (mother language Punjabi, in schools Urdu, in Office English, and with friends Arabic) so it is big mixture like cocktail in life. you are absolutely right sir. as it is our routine, "this power supply is short", "this mosfet is short", "this transistor is short" because the life is much busy and we try to save time by saying "short" instead of "short circuit" actually the best suitable and perfect term is " *short circuit"* so i am sorry for that, i will try to use proper terms in future and please accept my best regards and special thanks
@@HaseebElectronics No, no "short" is okay. Don't say "chard" if you can help it. :-) I still have trouble with "hell, hail, hill, heel, heal", especilly with heel and heal. :-)

Salam M.Haseeb, i tried to troubleshoot a PSU that has no output. As per your video: 0- The 5Vsb has a separate small PCB with PWM(top244p) and works fine 1- the series lamp flashes quickly at power on 2- I do have 5v at the purple wire 3- I have3.5v at the green wire 4- the 12v gives 10v then decreases untill it dies 5- the PWM ic (UC3845BN) has no VCC 6- i do have 324v dc at the main capacitors I tried to look for some shorted capacitors, but when i take them out of the PCB, they are fine, so i replaced them. Thanks.
@@HaseebElectronics OK, i will try that, no need to check the 3.3v and 5v section yet, because it is the same for them, they start with some voltage then die... Thank you
Can you cover the case where 5Vsb is present but the power supply main stage shuts down shortly after the green wire is connected to the black wire at the connector and the power supply used an output voltage monitor Ic to shutdown the power supply if the output voltages are too high or too low . It is difficult to trouble shoot because the power supply turns off the outputs very quickly after the power supply turns on , so it is not easy to see which output is causing the problem or if there is a fault with the voltage monitoring chip or circuit . Have you advice for this case ?

if you have made a short circuit between purple and black (+5v STBY) in normal cases it have no problem, just the power supply will fluctuate or turn off some models have 7805 regulator IC to give regulated 5 volt for SB so if there is 7805 (3 pin regulator looking like a transistor or mosfet) will damaged surely, try to replace it

in this case the secondary power section is not turning on. most of time there is a supervisor IC that monitors the output section, when any output goes beyond its allowed limits, in that case the smps section remains off. in this case if we want to repair it, first of all disable its protection for 3.3 volt, 5 volt and 12 volt and turns on the PWM IC directly and after repairing reconnect protection network
