I'd normally pin a comment here with my socials or whatever, but felt this video deserved something a bit more. This video is in no way meant to increase any of the unnessecary hate towards Studio Wildcard and the Ark Team. Yet I think constructive and accurate criticism is a good thing, and as content creators we should use our platforms to try and push the game forward. I'm aware that it has become quite 'trendy' of late to jump on the bandwagon of hating ASA and giving it a hard time, but that's not what this video is trying to do. It attempts to offer some actual thoughts of how Wildcard can get themselves out of this rut they are currently in and revive the game and franchise. I don't believe it's too late for that, but I do believe it has to start soon. Anyway, back to proper Ark Challenge videos later this week. Ark evolved was a mess. They had how many years to fix it? But just kept pushing out paid dlcs. I mean there is still mesh holes that have been out since the maps released. And honeslty its the "content creators" that make it worse yall could point out the flaws and wildcard would be more inclined to listen we can see it with how they answer support tickets. Instead yall edit all the bs out and make it seem like a flawless game. Ascended was obviously a cash grab and anyone thinking they will fix the game obviously never played or dont remember evolved. Yall remeber "atlas"? Lol ya that wasnt a cash grab at all. Haha we just need to let this game die, maybe then wildcard will get their sh1t together and start to fix it. All all you gotta do is hook up your steam account to the GeForce now cloud and then boom you can stream that G for now or that game from GeForce now and play it just fine. The only thing you have to have is a good Internet connection. If you don’t well, then you might as well not be playing it at all that’s what I do my PC can’t handle that game at all. Now I’m pushing 4K 120 Hz fully epic settings like everything epic because GeForce now can support all that because I give you the best graphics card Nvidia offers. I’m not saying that who wants to hop on a force now please don’t wait times will be terrible but I’m just saying if that’s just the argument right there because of the issue you don’t have a powerful enough PC go to G force now get a free PC basically and stream the game on a good PC so you won’t have no issues
Mate I feel 100% the same as you. I haven't even been able to bring myself to start the game for months and ASE was the only game i played for years and tried hard to keep playing ASA.
And the ARK community is already pretty comfortable with bad performance and random crashes/bugs from the years of "early access" that we went through with ASE. So for ASA to be unstable *by ARK standards* is pretty damning.
I feel like they should have worked on this in the background instead of fully closing ASE to focus on it. That way playees get a full ASA experience with all the maps

I was having the best time with ASA with PVE only. my last straw was the repeated anti-mesh deleting me and tames just for playing the game normally. I was done wasting my time for an ok experience in the first place.
for pve not sure why anti mesh matter but for pvp I rather be anti meshed every once in a while when I go in a fishy spot than have someone mesh into my base destroying everything I spent months of 16 hour days making
@jerome43withacakepop man I wish it was just in fishy spots, it happened. just landing for stam on a small incline. I think its because the changed the map but not the anti mesh field so it's way easier to barely clip the it and get deleted.

Tbh. Jokes on all of you if you expected anything different. This is the same Wildcard we (or atleast I) have been dealing with for the past 10 years. Personally I did buy ASA and I started just hosting my own 20 slot server for my friends and I to play on. Having a blast.
yeah dont know why people thought that anything major was gonna change. Game is still enjoyable we just need the new map as people are getting bored of the island. They are learning a new engine though so I imagine as they get used to it and all its shortcuts and such it will go alot faster for other maps
I did the exact same thing with my friends! However, we dealt with constant crashing and poor optimization when playing on PC. That, combined with us feeling burnt out from only having one map, has caused us to take an indefinite break. It was still fun though, friends totally make all the difference. We plan to return to ASA once things have settled down and more content is available.

Honestly I haven't gotten ASA for a simple reason, it's just the same game with less content but it also barely runs on my rig. Barely is likely a bit exaggerated as it can run stuff like starfield on max settings w/o much issue but from benchmarks I've seen I'd still need to fuck around with ASAs settings heavily for it to run well.
What is your rig? Mine could run both well enough, given I do use some commands to make it run even better (just disabling clouds itself is literally a 20-30 fps boost). Also how would you know if ASA barely runs on your rig if you haven't gotten it? lol. Benchmarks alone never tell the full story. I used to run ASE in the early days on a 970, most settings on high, with some on low/turned off, and it ran smooth af. According to benchmarks however my PC should have imploded on itself and I should have been getting negative 40 fps. edit: fyi not defending ASA. It's awful in most ways with very few "saving" graces about it. and those few don't justify buying it
I played ASA for 25 min. I have I7 13gen, 64GB RAM and RTX 4070 the game isn't great even with that and I got refund from steam after realizing it's the same broken evolved game, if you don't believe try to go touch the top barrier on the island and tell me if your character and inventory survives.
@@errorboot If your rig can't run the game with that, you either have some defective parts, or are capping. Touching the top usually only kills you if you're using gcm on SP because of the speed you're hitting the barrier. I've touched it a few times on official and have been perfectly fine. There are many reasons to call this game bad, unoptimized, and the like, but the examples you state aren't any of them lmao.
I got the game day one with full trust in wildcard that they wouldn't screw this up but here we are and I haven't even been able to play for longer than an hour without feeling disappointed. I really hope they can salvage the game as I've been playing ark since the game previews on Xbox.
I just knew they would absolutely throooow the new title into the garbage bin so i didnt buy it instantly. if they aren‘t broke in like 4 months i hope its better then and maybe buy it xD. but not gonna happen. Snail Games and also WildCard are ass at communicating and all in all game developing
@@Endermann111 that is the sad truth that I shoved out the way to trust the devs out of love for ark. I do hope they can fix their mistakes and bring a good product or at least establish better communication with the fanbase but that is just wishful thinking at this point

great vid rampy and i couldnt agree more with all the points you made. as a content creator and as a player, i try my best to stay positive and at the very least neutral to all the shortcomings we have seen. but it does get so frustrating to keep positive when the lack of communication and broken promises of any content coming our way is delayed and then were thrown a bone (insert new dino or skin here) to hopefully make us happy. i had high hopes for asa and just want the best game in the world to be good again.
I'm just gonna say, I've grown tired of the crashes this game's unstable state current inflicts. To the point where I felt like I had to report the game. I run a way above specs pc, 4070ti, 7800x3d, 64gb ram. It's unacceptable for the game to be in it's current state. I have been patient. I have been understanding, but being released coming up to half a year later is unacceptable.
Yes I agree completely, to have not fixed the constant crashing and saving bugs so many people have had basically since launch is unacceptable at this stage.
I can't even play ASE solo without it crashing every ~30hours and also ending up on some weird spots where I can't even get into the game without it crashing. I'd be out of my mind if I played official and had this experience without being able to "cheat" my way out of these by using corpse revival and other such features. Can't imagine how unstable ASA must be if their ancient game is still this buggy.

Nothing can be said to excuse this, if having one of the latest cards is not up to scratch, it's frankly still unacceptable. That being said, even the 4090's the current most powerful card on the market is still having these issues. @@ade5691 I have a 4080 super. Play high to epic settings at 1440p. It exceeds the 12 gb vram the 4070 has. This is not just an asa thing. Avatar exceeds it too and hogwarts legacy. Tech is moving fast and 12 gb is not enough for a lot of newer titles. I'd suggest moving over to 4070 TI super
This game should not have gotten the grace newly released games get. Its not a new game, its a reskin of a game thats been around for years. Sure with a new engine there is gonna be bugs, but theres barely anythig new. Its just Ark but slightly more flashy and even worse system requirements.
Ive been playing Ark since the age of 8 immediatly after it dropped as a Hardcore dino fan. I saw the Game develop and the community form over years. I met great people and made good friends. And now seeing the reason why our Friendship started fading away is sad to see
We played Arc and that never seemed like it was a complete game. There was not really any end game play. Now we have Ascended, and it is the same game with upgraded graphics. I just dont get why they are confused that players arent coming over.
honestly, I really like ASA. The Quality of life changes are fantastic (Im aware mods do this on ASE) and the babys I really like. Do I like it more than ASE? As soon as Noglins drop in ASA (by the going rate, potentially by 2077) Yes. I love those little brain munchers. I do honestly believe that as they become more and more familiar with UE5, Things will be better streamlined and released at a better rate. The real question is, Will the studio genuinely MAKE it that far? I'm concerned scorched earth is the last content to drop.
Likely not the last but I predict its not going to make it to deliver the full set of content they outlined in their roadmap, especially due to their financial situation.
The only problem I have with Asa is the with a series s I don't get all the cool stuff that was shown like all the new water physics and how the grass moves when youe moving in it pretty much on series s I'm play ase but with better graphics thats all
Honestly, I don't even think new maps are what the community wants. People just want 'content' for an almost half of a year old Early-Access title. The first "content" update outside of limited-time events is one, single, new creature. Compare this to ASE's Early-Access where we had at least two to three new creatures every two weeks. With new items here and there.
For me its just the lack of maps....the game runs better than ever. I havent had a single crash or any major bug on ps5 which is wild because in comparison on evolved it would crash several times a day. But I just want more content because the island is overplayed.
Agreed. My group of friends are absolutely okay with Ascended, but we all agreed that it needs a better map. The Island doesn't cut it. Push for Ragnarok or something better, idk. But not the Island.
Game was still crashing from time to time but it was way better then before. One thing that is way better than ASE is loading times and that alone pretty much sells ASA for me. Also performance did increase a bit too but as you said lack of maps is the problem. I hated Island in ASE to begin with but still managed to play it in ASA for about 450 hours and finish it all and after that i spend around 100 hours on Svartalfheim (still dont have a base there) but now i havent played for over a week because i no longer have anyone to play with. One who played ASA said that he aint coming back until Bloodstalker is in the game so thats gonna take a while and rest just dont like dinosaurs or something, i guess they prefer zombies and mutants since they played 7 Days to Die a lot and after that Sons of Forest to this day.
yeah gotta agree here people seem to forget wild card always seems to promise something earlier than they can give it then get upset everytime but on release of said content people get extremely excited and enjoy it. What the game needs which it will get in time is its old content baseline and for some new content which we have been promised as well.

i do believe that a *MAJOR* problem they need to fix is how they treat players on their discord as well. they focus on bugs that are *ABSOLUTELY IRRELEVANT,* like being able to make your character name longer than should be possible, while ignoring game breaking shit. even worse: they have time to nerf things *into oblivion,* take the rhynio for example. it is heavily outclassed by any goddamn argy now, and dont come at me with the 'being able to carry full vaults and stuff', nobody cares, it is absolutely worthless if you want to carry creatures to farm, or just to carry them. and if people talk about how this is frustrating them because in reality they do not care about their players, which becomes *VERY* obvious if you pay any attention to their discord, where they have actually been mocking people who were frustrated with things like those instead of actually communicating. i do not want ark to fail, i love ark, and i'm sure *SOMEONE* at wildcard hq, who i feel pity for, loves the game as well and would like to do things that help it, but doesn't have a chance to do anything about anything. i gave them another chance with ascended after TONS of frustration in evolved, where they preferred paid DLCs and even whole new games, albeit just reskins of some sort, to fixing major issues. i mean... bugfixes don't generate money, right? we idiots already paid for the game, nothing more to gain from us unless they drop more paid content. i for one am not going to buy anything wildcard anymore, you always get half finished products that, with *LITERALLY EVERY FIX* take a few steps back, not forward! they do not communicate openly and if they DO communicate they have the nerve to actually mock fair points on their discord!

I never played Ark a lot (the farthest I got was taming a single rex, no saddle) but I think it's a really cool game, and I hope that they can fix the mistakes that they have made with ASA and Ark 2, and I have faith that they CAN fix it with enough care. Kerbal Space Program 2 was in a very similar transition when it launched (barring the microtransactions), but with recent updates, it's become not only playable, but a lot of fun. If Private Division and Intercept Games can save that game (which was in its dire condition for almost a year), then Snail Games can absolutely save ASA and Ark 2.
have any of these reviewers played this game past the first month of release? the crashes almost never happen now, the optimization is pretty good my shitty laptop runs 60fps, the meshing is not as big of a issue the main issue is not the performance anymore they have made many changes to the performance of the game but the lack of content is what is killing the game now and maybe nitrados hold on unofficial servers
I don’t think half the reviewer’s even play it to beggin with. They jumped on a hate train. I play on both console and pc. My 2 official servers stay at over 50 population. Lack of content is the only downside. So many people said once maps are out they will come back and play.

me and my few friends started playing asa like 1 month ago, and we beat asa in 2 weeks and get bored. but when we played ase we used to play every day for like 2-3 years . And this is the problem :(

This is very similar to the same situation of Battlefront 2, and DICE really had to get their stuff together to fix that game and make it memorable to play, hopefully Wildcard can step up and do the same
Your half right, It is a cash grab but not for the sequel, it’s a cash grab by snail games before wildcard breaks ties with them and they lose the rights to anything they create.
You're really missing a major point. ASA was never meant to be a sequel to ASE. It is 100% a remaster, Wildcard made clear when they announced it. True remasters are exactly that. I don't see why everyone is begging for brand new content when this was never the plan in the first place. I mean sure, new maps would be great, but that doesn't exactly follow the lines of remaster.
I was so unbelievably excited for this game to release, there's only maybe one game that I have similar hours in compared to ASE, and that's WoW, which is infamous for being the online equivalent to crack. But the moment I checked the store page and saw the required minimum specs, I was crestfallen, I'd need to spend a ballpark minimum of nearly 700 USD to upgrade my PC to meet the minimum specs. I just couldn't justify buying it, and after seeing everything that's gone on with the game and its lack of updates to long standing bugs, I can't say I am all that sad that I didn't pay. I still love ASE, I still play it fairly regularly, finding modded maps to explore and adventure on even now, but it does disappoint me, that it feels like I have no reason to want to upgrade my PC to play this game I love in a graphically superior way. It also genuinely feels like now the votes that I and so many others made towards the new creatures have just gone down the drain, and the ingenuity that so many artists put forwards to creating their ideas and putting them forward are just going to be locked in a purgatory of dev time.
my pc is below minimum specs as well and i tweaked around with the setting and play on roughly 40fps with peaks of 70 and drops to 20 during dawn in the redwoods. but i have barely any crashes. plus despite me adjusting the settings im still squeezing the shit out of my GPU here. its playable AND looks stunning.
I recently bought ascended on xbox and so far everything has been going very well. In the span of a week no crashing, no lag, no optimization issues, and no save issues. From what i heard from my friends back in November I see not a single one. Maybe Wildcard has been working in the background and maybe there is hope for the future.
This is just atlas 2.0. Its a beautiful game, visually it is. It has a lot of QoL additions that I love. Its different enough to feel different but same to know you're playing ark. But they keep lying to us, they have lied to us since they said it was free upgrade. There's no way they get ASA done with all maps before 2027 at this rate. We're supposedly getting SE this year. Its fair to assume the next story map is Aberration and if they've taken 6 months minimum to develop it. I imagine aberration will be far more work than SE given how the map is visually on ASE. Wildcard needs to make a choice, full force into ASA, which they can and still make financial work of it with paid mods and adventurer packs. Or just admit its a failure and full force into Ark 2. They can't seem to do both at the same time, and I don't think anyone asked for Ark 2. Give its player base what they already want. You can release dlc/expansions for years to come, it is possible. They're just trying to be too ambitious, and its not working. To add to what you think, I think they need to remaster all story maps. And only 2-3 free maps. Ragnarok is impactful, its a fan favorite. Forget the center, forget lost island. I think Ragnarok after SE is fine, then either valguero or crystal isles after extinction. And then fjordur after all story is out. That said, if they just wanted to get rid of genesis part 1, forget it existed, I'd be fine with it. toxic ass map. Least favorite.
seems the performance has been improved on xbox series x, at launch it was abysmal and now its functioning properly and also ASA has just been added to gamepass on console and pc so hopefully this will bring it back to life.
I was a bit suprised when ase launched and there wasn't things like silk plants or fungal trees somewhere on the island. They knew nobody wanted to play the island anyway 😂
I genuinely almost cried watching your video, because I can feel your pain just as much as i can feel mine. Ark has been the world for me, ive plowed through every bug, crash, missed deadline and comunication issues, giving it a chance every time, on the hopes that wildcard would realize the beautiful gem they have in their hands and started caring, but that has never happened, in fact it has gotten worse over time, to the point that I, a blind diehard fan of Ark since its conception, have started to question myself if its worth it anymore. I am afraid i must say, im afraid the very game that change my life and many others, that brought comunities together and forged a bond within us for a digital world, will die, forever.
Ngl I would be furious if they decided not to port over all of the old maps. That being said, I would be more than willing to wait for them if it meant getting new content first.
I want ASA to succeed, I really do. I like the quality of life changes - the new building system is so much better, I love the babies, I like being able to download mods from within the game. And the game for me at least loads so much quicker. But damnit, they need to communicate better and give us more than that. Like, one new creature per map isn't rlly gonna do it. Adding a couple new dinos to ALL maps, releasing new never before seen maps, new blue prints and structures ... like, imagine if there'd be a fungal wood building set for Aberration, and a scrap metal set or sth for Extinction? idk, there's potential here, things that would give you a reason to play ASA over ASE (apart from the the small stuff I mentioned which, as I said, I really appreciate)
I agree with all of your points I love ark and I really really do want ASA to succeed and I believe if it was executed properly it would have been awesome but it wasn’t executed well at all but I do believe it can be salvaged into an Awesome game and the best ark ever has been but that requires some work
I'm a new player to Ark having picked up ASA just a month ago and while I have seen a few visual errors I have found an interesting game that definitely looks able to keep me entertained for hours. Yet, I keep seeing videos like this where a current content creator who doesn't understand game development panics over the fact that the game isn't 100% ready and each map is taking longer than expected. And all of the delays make a ton of sense, even the ones surrounding the Wildcard team being inexperienced in using Unreal Engine 5. And I'll address that first in two sections. 1. while the transition from Unreal Engine 4 to Unreal Engine 5 isn't as jarring as some of the other possible transitions (Unity to any Unreal Engine is much more difficult) there are a number of foundational differences that mean that the programs of each module need time to work out how to incorporate the changes and make them work. The engine can handle more variables and tighter graphical interlacing, but that requires more detail in the programming to ensure that you've captured all of the possible outputs from each equation. It can take time to learn how to make everything work, and its clear that the Wildcard team decided that porting ASE to Unreal Engine 5 and creating ASA was the way they'd figure out how to make the changes work in any new game they were going to work on. Unfortunately we've found out that they did not always take the time to fix some of the larger "bugs" that people complain about, something that they should have done considering that they shouldn't want those bugs around in Ark 2, but from playing I can say that the game is as good and stable as most other survival games I've played recently. 2. Programming in Unreal Engine 5 works similar to in most larger engines, in that the programming is module based. You'll have a combat module, a movement module, AI modules for each different mob, probably multiple graphic modules for the MP because you can have different body types, weapons, armor, and fighting styles. Each module will be programmed by an different team, with a team moving on once their section is complete, and many programmers specializing in working on one type of module. I expect that some teams have mostly transitioned over to work on Ark 2 as their elements for ASA are considered to be stable enough for the moment while the graphic and design teams try to push the maps out so that they can stablize the situation with the player base. Next, on the poor communication. This is sadly understandable, if wrong. Wildcard clearly is worried about the low morale in the player base and they need to avoid any announcement that might lower the morale further. So even while they likely knew there were issues with the map for The Center not being in a good place, they hoped they could pressure the sub-contractor into completing the map in time to allow a release, even if it was not complete. However, its clear someone within the company looked at the state of the latest build and realized that releasing it would be worse than a delay. So as players we get a disheartening announcement and people panic. Overall, the situation is definitely frustrating and I can understand why people are unhappy, but its also a case of Wildcard being under pressure to provide enough income to pay for the continued development, which is a huge part of why ASA came out when it did. It was both to practice the programming needed in Unreal Engine 5 so that hopefully Ark 2 would be a clearly better game, and a way to generate some income while Ark 2 was being completed. It is my understanding that they were forced to rush the game out ahead of the advice of the programmers due to the delays bleeding through their capital, and now they are having to try to rush to get enough content out to avoid crashing both Ark Survival and Ark 2 simultaneously.
Cannot wait for scorched earth. The only thing i am scared about is that a lot of the content that comes with the siblings pack seems like a griefers paradise. I think this will be pure chaos at launch.
I play satisfactory by Coffee Stain Studios. They had the same growing pains as wild card but they handled things differently. The weekly stream by two fantastic community mangers kept us informed. You never felt like they missed a deadline because they kept us informed. They did say they were unsure if they would go to unreal engine 5 but gave us a surprise when they did. They addressed issues and fixed them. They went from the older unreal engine to unreal engine 5 in less time than wild card. I always thought wild card could take lessons from coffee stain and how they communicate with players. They also don’t get offended and acknowledge bugs and then fix them. The livestreams every week are very entertaining.
Just let me play with my friends who are on Xbox without having to purchase a server. They told us that cross platform play within the game, we bought the game and was extremely devastated to find out that we have to purchase a server first. It's literally only three of us, I don't want to pay for a server just to play with the three of us on the settings that we like. That's something that should come standard in games released in 2023 and beyond.
I feel like we've been lied to as cross play doesn't apply to non dedicated server which was one of my main reasons for buying to play with my friend on ps as im on xbox but no cant play a private server
Should've just kept adding stuff to ASE, maybe slowly updating graphics and such and adding new creatures to maps and such and focus on Survival Evolved 2 in the background

Man i wish i had the problem of getting bored of the island, however, my PC with only slightly under the recommended hardware cannot run the game for shit. Even on the lowest of the low settings it is a stuttering mess. Back to ASE for me…
Honestly I have to agree that releasing Scorched Earth on April First will either make or brake ASA as people are not happy about The Center delay and IF they delay Scorched Earth again, its honestly over for them.

Before i knew about the existence of asa is was extremly hyped for ark 2 so i really really hope when they drop ark 2 that its done its finished its a good game (Cause ASA isnt finished yet its so extreemly rushed we can all see that and we see what it does to the community) I really hope that dosnt happens to ark 2 i really hope ark 2 releases in the next 12 months from now and that isnt rushed and is finished and that is gonna be a good game!
ARK will forever be a very important game to me as ive played it for years... Ever since it came out as a game preview on console... It was on ARK i met my friend, who introduced me to his mates and few weeks later introduced me to a girl, and this girl. 4-5 years later me and this girl are still talking and our friendship is stronger than ever and could soon become a relationship. BUT the POINT IS... ARK is an amazing game and a amazing franchise filled with a wonderful community, however the game is dying... and i honestly believe this is it for ARK... I WOULD LOVE ! For ark to come back and be as great as i remember it to be, how we all remember it to be, hope ASA is better than ASE but way its going its increasingly seems unlikely... And hope ARK 2 saves the game but again... We'll see. When the game came out in 2017 on consoles i was 11, Im now 17, and will soon be 18... Ive had highs and lows in ark and in life and ARK and the people ive met through ark has massively helped me get through it all! and i think the lesson all of us are learning now is that ofc we should hope for the best ! and while it is an absolute shame this game has fallen so hard, we shouldn't be sad its COULD over, but instead be happy this game happened and be happy for all the experiences we've had through this game.
They should have just gone with ark two fully, there was no need for asa, if they worked on ark and released it with new maps and a continuation of the storyline, and then later on revamped some of the old maps and brought them to ark 2 then it would have been amazing, because we would have had a fresh experience with some of the old maps as well. also i thought ark 2 was like ark 1 with more features like a skill tree and stuff not a dark souls battle type game.
although im a new ark player these maps are more then remasters! the visual difference and experience overall (when not turning down graphic settings) make it a world of a difference
one of the biggest issues is that the game has serious server lag, the spawns around the player is a joke. And if you know how to do it, you can get a lot of meat from fish and other creatures just by logging in and out of the game. However the biggest issue is Mods, and while it is more noticeable with mods, vanilla structures also suffers big time with this. Any structure that has the option to use Multi User Entries, you know the ones where you hold "E" and the radial wheel pops up. Or even the buttons in Inventories, will get stuck in unknow states because the server lag decides to loose the request from the client. Dedicated Storage is the worst offender here, and it just gets worse with no end in sight
Breaks my heart to see so much negativity around this game! I had never heard of this game 3 years ago and literally scoffed at the idea of a dinosaur game. I was hooked instantly and even moved to steam so i could enjoy the game with mods. I am even subscribed to most ark youtubers because i couldn't get enough of the game. The 100 days videos have to be my favourite, they are more entertaining than most Hollywood movies these days. Now i am back to console because my poor little laptop struggled with the menu, nevermind the gameplay. I am struggling trying to find a server as it seems a lot are closing and too right, the price of a server for 1 map is outrageous. So i am on single player and oh my it ended up unplayable for a while. Resources not respawning to not saving. It is saving now but the tek cave mountain is still bare of obsidian... I genuinely thought nice one i'll be at the beginning of this game, find a server and hopefully find some ark friends but it's not looking that way so far. I am hopeful but i don't have much left right now. "I'm not angry just disappointed"
Don't count on it, Wildcard is not a good studio and has been shady from start. Scorched Earth was when game first launched in Early Access was suppose to be part of original game. But Wildcard lost a court battle for one founders stealing code from company he quit to form Wildcard. So now they got a 50 million dollar judgement against them and that why they scammed people with a DLC in early access so customers could pay that co-owner was a bad person.
Difference is the Devs. NMS devs actually listened and cared enough to do something about it. All Wildcard (To be fair, Snail Games) care about is getting money to pay debts.
Honestly at this point. Wildcard just needs a whole new dev team. Not one of them care about their game or their fans. All they want is money. That’s why I have tried to move to ASE but it’s hard with even that with my pc specs
When I first went to purchase ascended (on my Xbox 1S) I was super excited to finally get to give mods a try and the graphics looked AMAZING, I was so incredibly hyped but then, sadly the library said that “this game is not supported by this platform due to graphical issues” or something along those lines and I was absolutely devastated… looking back, I’m glad, it wasn’t nearly as good as I imagined, and mods, quite frankly are simply not worth that mess of a game
Ah yes. Cleaning up the code base, by not implementing half the features and what is implemented has the exact same bugs as the old game in its infancy. Truly remarkable cleanup! Nearly bursting with how much competence they clearly have when it comes to developing a core game system. Also I'm sure the extremely high staff churn helps a lot, when you're a relatively speaking a senior in the company at your first anniversary. That screams of a healthy and well managed work place that doesn't overwork their staff and that deep and old knowledge of their code base! /s Juuuust in case
It's weird seeing these videos when me and my buddies enjoy it on our own server every day with minimal problems and we're on Xbox I mean sure it don't look nearly as good as PC folks get but for people who work alot and play sparingly even with just one map we've found alot to do but Def hope it stays alive and they come out with more maps and stuff
Console players are having a better experience than pc players. People who sunk a lot of hours into ASE just feel they’ve been there and done it before. For first time console players ASA is very appealing!
The only people who have my sympathy in this whole debacle are creators. They base their channels around the games, and as you once pointed out to one of my comments they HAVE to stay current. They put so much effort into their work, literally their hearts and souls. It's a god damn shame. They should have moved on to ARK 2 instead of this catastrophe. Even if the new system in what they described was not for me doing something NEW would have gotten them a lot more goodwill, and wouldn't have been such a blatant, insulting moneygrab. Fortunately ASE and all its maps are still there, and still very enjoyable to play. It's proving to be the REAL evergreen experience in Ark. Your video inspired me to try the Hunted mod and it's been a total blast. The bitter feelings about being right about ASA is nowhere close to compensation. At all.
If they were honest during August before the closing of ASE servers, players would have been willing to contribute to a Extra life like event to hold down Snail Games....instead they screwed us over on official servers, and made us wait....cancelled the extra content promised in reference to maps,and trapped us on a single map for $50 plagued with software bugs😢
very good points and ideas. On the Ark 2 discussion. Part of the reason why i bought ASA to begin with is because they sold it as a way to fund Ark 2. So being someone who *wanted* Ark 2. I bought ASA to experience some of the DLC i didnt buy/get around to really doing much with yet in a new engine with crisp visuals while they finish Ark 2. But now Ark 2 might not even come out?(rumor i heard) idk. Just unfortunate the way things have gone.
Honestly I think the biggest problem with ASA is the massive amounts of cheaters on official PVP, because most, if not all, of the PVE servers are fairly full, but there is rarely a time when official PVP servers are capped, if they could fix the cheating problem that would help player count stabilize where then they could start working on bringing in more content. Even if they brought a whole new map, it'll only boost player count temporarily, just because PVP servers will get taken over by cheaters
I'm going to be honest, I knew from day 1 where it was announced that ASA was gonna be a dumbster fire on release and likely for a long while afterwards. I never expected to be good, have a lot of content, or be even remotely optimized. I whole heartedly expected it to be a buggy mess with little content and horrible optimization for at least a year after it's release. So now that I've had the chance to sit down and watch this video it just confirms everything I already knew was gonna happen. If they continue to support the game my guess is that it will be in a "better then ASE" state in around a year maybe 2 years down the line.
I'd normally pin a comment here with my socials or whatever, but felt this video deserved something a bit more. This video is in no way meant to increase any of the unnessecary hate towards Studio Wildcard and the Ark Team. Yet I think constructive and accurate criticism is a good thing, and as content creators we should use our platforms to try and push the game forward. I'm aware that it has become quite 'trendy' of late to jump on the bandwagon of hating ASA and giving it a hard time, but that's not what this video is trying to do. It attempts to offer some actual thoughts of how Wildcard can get themselves out of this rut they are currently in and revive the game and franchise. I don't believe it's too late for that, but I do believe it has to start soon.

Ark evolved was a mess. They had how many years to fix it? But just kept pushing out paid dlcs. I mean there is still mesh holes that have been out since the maps released. I haven't even been able to bring myself to start the game for months and ASE was the only game i played for years and tried hard to keep playing ASA.
And the ARK community is already pretty comfortable with bad performance and random crashes/bugs from the years of "early access" that we went through with ASE. So for ASA to be unstable *by ARK standards* is pretty damning.

I was having the best time with ASA with PVE only. my last straw was the repeated anti-mesh deleting me and tames just for playing the game normally. I was done wasting my time for an ok experience in the first place.

for pve not sure why anti mesh matter but for pvp I rather be anti meshed every once in a while when I go in a fishy spot than have someone mesh into my base destroying everything I spent months of 16 hour days making

Personally I did buy ASA and I started just hosting my own 20 slot server for my friends and I to play on. Having a blast.
yeah dont know why people thought that anything major was gonna change. Game is still enjoyable we just need the new map as people are getting bored of the island. They are learning a new engine though so I imagine as they get used to it and all its shortcuts and such it will go alot faster for other maps

I did the exact same thing with my friends! However, we dealt with constant crashing and poor optimization when playing on PC. That, combined with us feeling burnt out from only having one map, has caused us to take an indefinite break. It was still fun though, friends totally make all the difference. We plan to return to ASA once things have settled down and more content is available.

Honestly I haven't gotten ASA for a simple reason, it's just the same game with less content but it also barely runs on my rig.
Barely is likely a bit exaggerated as it can run stuff like starfield on max settings w/o much issue but from benchmarks I've seen I'd still need to fuck around with ASAs settings heavily for it to run well.
What is your rig? Mine could run both well enough, given I do use some commands to make it run even better (just disabling clouds itself is literally a 20-30 fps boost).
Also how would you know if ASA barely runs on your rig if you haven't gotten it? lol. Benchmarks alone never tell the full story. I used to run ASE in the early days on a 970, most settings on high, with some on low/turned off, and it ran smooth af.
According to benchmarks however my PC should have imploded on itself and I should have been getting negative 40 fps.
edit: fyi not defending ASA. It's awful in most ways with very few "saving" graces about it. and those few don't justify buying it

I played ASA for 25 min. I have I7 13gen, 64GB RAM and RTX 4070 the game isn't great even with that and I got refund from steam after realizing it's the same broken evolved game, if you don't believe try to go touch the top barrier on the island and tell me if your character and inventory survives.
@@errorboot If your rig can't run the game with that, you either have some defective parts, or are capping.
Touching the top usually only kills you if you're using gcm on SP because of the speed you're hitting the barrier. I've touched it a few times on official and have been perfectly fine.
There are many reasons to call this game bad, unoptimized, and the like, but the examples you state aren't any of them lmao.
I got the game day one with full trust in wildcard that they wouldn't screw this up but here we are and I haven't even been able to play for longer than an hour without feeling disappointed. I really hope they can salvage the game as I've been playing ark since the game previews on Xbox.

great vid rampy and i couldnt agree more with all the points you made. as a content creator and as a player, i try my best to stay positive and at the very least neutral to all the shortcomings we have seen. but it does get so frustrating to keep positive when the lack of communication and broken promises of any content coming our way is delayed and then were thrown a bone (insert new dino or skin here) to hopefully make us happy. i had high hopes for asa and just want the best game in the world to be good again.

I'm just gonna say, I've grown tired of the crashes this game's unstable state current inflicts.
To the point where I felt like I had to report the game.
I run a way above specs pc, 4070ti, 7800x3d, 64gb ram.
It's unacceptable for the game to be in it's current state.
I have been patient. I have been understanding, but being released coming up to half a year later is unacceptable.
Yes I agree completely, to have not fixed the constant crashing and saving bugs so many people have had basically since launch is unacceptable at this stage.
I can't even play ASE solo without it crashing every ~30hours and also ending up on some weird spots where I can't even get into the game without it crashing. I'd be out of my mind if I played official and had this experience without being able to "cheat" my way out of these by using corpse revival and other such features. Can't imagine how unstable ASA must be if their ancient game is still this buggy.

Nothing can be said to excuse this, if having one of the latest cards is not up to scratch, it's frankly still unacceptable.

Tech is moving fast and 12 gb is not enough for a lot of newer titles. I'd suggest moving over to 4070 TI super

This game should not have gotten the grace newly released games get. Its not a new game, its a reskin of a game thats been around for years. Sure with a new engine there is gonna be bugs, but theres barely anythig new. Its just Ark but slightly more flashy and even worse system requirements.

Ive been playing Ark since the age of 8 immediatly after it dropped as a Hardcore dino fan. I saw the Game develop and the community form over years. I met great people and made good friends. And now seeing the reason why our Friendship started fading away is sad to see

We played Arc and that never seemed like it was a complete game. There was not really any end game play. Now we have Ascended, and it is the same game with upgraded graphics. I just dont get why they are confused that players arent coming over.
honestly, I really like ASA. The Quality of life changes are fantastic (Im aware mods do this on ASE) and the babys I really like. Do I like it more than ASE? As soon as Noglins drop in ASA (by the going rate, potentially by 2077) Yes. I love those little brain munchers. I do honestly believe that as they become more and more familiar with UE5, Things will be better streamlined and released at a better rate. The real question is, Will the studio genuinely MAKE it that far? I'm concerned scorched earth is the last content to drop.
Likely not the last but I predict its not going to make it to deliver the full set of content they outlined in their roadmap, especially due to their financial situation.
The only problem I have with Asa is the with a series s I don't get all the cool stuff that was shown like all the new water physics and how the grass moves when youe moving in it pretty much on series s I'm play ase but with better graphics thats all

The first "content" update outside of limited-time events is one, single, new creature.
Compare this to ASE's Early-Access where we had at least two to three new creatures every two weeks. With new items here and there.
For me its just the lack of maps....the game runs better than ever. I havent had a single crash or any major bug on ps5 which is wild because in comparison on evolved it would crash several times a day. But I just want more content because the island is overplayed.

Agreed. My group of friends are absolutely okay with Ascended, but we all agreed that it needs a better map. The Island doesn't cut it. Push for Ragnarok or something better, idk. But not the Island.
Game was still crashing from time to time but it was way better then before. One thing that is way better than ASE is loading times and that alone pretty much sells ASA for me. Also performance did increase a bit too but as you said lack of maps is the problem. I hated Island in ASE to begin with but still managed to play it in ASA for about 450 hours and finish it all and after that i spend around 100 hours on Svartalfheim (still dont have a base there) but now i havent played for over a week because i no longer have anyone to play with. One who played ASA said that he aint coming back until Bloodstalker is in the game so thats gonna take a while and rest just dont like dinosaurs or something, i guess they prefer zombies and mutants since they played 7 Days to Die a lot and after that Sons of Forest to this day.

yeah gotta agree here people seem to forget wild card always seems to promise something earlier than they can give it then get upset everytime but on release of said content people get extremely excited and enjoy it. What the game needs which it will get in time is its old content baseline and for some new content which we have been promised as well.

i gave them another chance with ascended after TONS of frustration in evolved, where they preferred paid DLCs and even whole new games, albeit just reskins of some sort, to fixing major issues. i mean... bugfixes don't generate money, right? we idiots already paid for the game, nothing more to gain from us unless they drop more paid content.

I never played Ark a lot (the farthest I got was taming a single rex, no saddle) but I think it's a really cool game, and I hope that they can fix the mistakes that they have made with ASA and Ark 2, and I have faith that they CAN fix it with enough care. Kerbal Space Program 2 was in a very similar transition when it launched (barring the microtransactions), but with recent updates, it's become not only playable, but a lot of fun. If Private Division and Intercept Games can save that game (which was in its dire condition for almost a year), then Snail Games can absolutely save ASA and Ark 2.
have any of these reviewers played this game past the first month of release? the crashes almost never happen now, the optimization is pretty good my shitty laptop runs 60fps, the meshing is not as big of a issue the main issue is not the performance anymore they have made many changes to the performance of the game but the lack of content is what is killing the game now and maybe nitrados hold on unofficial servers
I don’t think half the reviewer’s even play it to beggin with. They jumped on a hate train. I play on both console and pc. My 2 official servers stay at over 50 population. Lack of content is the only downside. So many people said once maps are out they will come back and play.

me and my few friends started playing asa like 1 month ago, and we beat asa in 2 weeks and get bored. but when we played ase we used to play every day for like 2-3 years . And this is the problem :(

Your half right, It is a cash grab but not for the sequel, it’s a cash grab by snail games before wildcard breaks ties with them and they lose the rights to anything they create.
You're really missing a major point. ASA was never meant to be a sequel to ASE. It is 100% a remaster, Wildcard made clear when they announced it. True remasters are exactly that. I don't see why everyone is begging for brand new content when this was never the plan in the first place. I mean sure, new maps would be great, but that doesn't exactly follow the lines of remaster.

I was so unbelievably excited for this game to release, there's only maybe one game that I have similar hours in compared to ASE, and that's WoW, which is infamous for being the online equivalent to crack. But the moment I checked the store page and saw the required minimum specs, I was crestfallen, I'd need to spend a ballpark minimum of nearly 700 USD to upgrade my PC to meet the minimum specs. I just couldn't justify buying it, and after seeing everything that's gone on with the game and its lack of updates to long standing bugs, I can't say I am all that sad that I didn't pay. I still love ASE, I still play it fairly regularly, finding modded maps to explore and adventure on even now, but it does disappoint me, that it feels like I have no reason to want to upgrade my PC to play this game I love in a graphically superior way. It also genuinely feels like now the votes that I and so many others made towards the new creatures have just gone down the drain, and the ingenuity that so many artists put forwards to creating their ideas and putting them forward are just going to be locked in a purgatory of dev time.
You are missing oout big time. ASA is amazing. Much better than ASE. Drop the money its worth it.
my pc is below minimum specs as well and i tweaked around with the setting and play on roughly 40fps with peaks of 70 and drops to 20 during dawn in the redwoods. but i have barely any crashes. plus despite me adjusting the settings im still squeezing the shit out of my GPU here. its playable AND looks stunning.
I recently bought ascended on xbox and so far everything has been going very well. In the span of a week no crashing, no lag, no optimization issues, and no save issues. From what i heard from my friends back in November I see not a single one. Maybe Wildcard has been working in the background and maybe there is hope for the future.
This is just atlas 2.0. Its a beautiful game, visually it is. It has a lot of QoL additions that I love. Its different enough to feel different but same to know you're playing ark.
But they keep lying to us, they have lied to us since they said it was free upgrade. There's no way they get ASA done with all maps before 2027 at this rate. We're supposedly getting SE this year. Its fair to assume the next story map is Aberration and if they've taken 6 months minimum to develop it. I imagine aberration will be far more work than SE given how the map is visually on ASE.
Wildcard needs to make a choice, full force into ASA, which they can and still make financial work of it with paid mods and adventurer packs. Or just admit its a failure and full force into Ark 2. They can't seem to do both at the same time, and I don't think anyone asked for Ark 2. Give its player base what they already want. You can release dlc/expansions for years to come, it is possible. They're just trying to be too ambitious, and its not working.
To add to what you think, I think they need to remaster all story maps. And only 2-3 free maps. Ragnarok is impactful, its a fan favorite. Forget the center, forget lost island. I think Ragnarok after SE is fine, then either valguero or crystal isles after extinction. And then fjordur after all story is out.
That said, if they just wanted to get rid of genesis part 1, forget it existed, I'd be fine with it. toxic ass map. Least favorite.
seems the performance has been improved on xbox series x, at launch it was abysmal and now its functioning properly and also ASA has just been added to gamepass on console and pc so hopefully this will bring it back to life.

I genuinely almost cried watching your video, because I can feel your pain just as much as i can feel mine. Ark has been the world for me, ive plowed through every bug, crash, missed deadline and comunication issues, giving it a chance every time, on the hopes that wildcard would realize the beautiful gem they have in their hands and started caring, but that has never happened, in fact it has gotten worse over time, to the point that I, a blind diehard fan of Ark since its conception, have started to question myself if its worth it anymore. I am afraid i must say, im afraid the very game that change my life and many others, that brought comunities together and forged a bond within us for a digital world, will die, forever.
Ngl I would be furious if they decided not to port over all of the old maps. That being said, I would be more than willing to wait for them if it meant getting new content first.
I want ASA to succeed, I really do. I like the quality of life changes - the new building system is so much better, I love the babies, I like being able to download mods from within the game. And the game for me at least loads so much quicker. But damnit, they need to communicate better and give us more than that. Like, one new creature per map isn't rlly gonna do it. Adding a couple new dinos to ALL maps, releasing new never before seen maps, new blue prints and structures ... like, imagine if there'd be a fungal wood building set for Aberration, and a scrap metal set or sth for Extinction? idk, there's potential here, things that would give you a reason to play ASA over ASE (apart from the the small stuff I mentioned which, as I said, I really appreciate)
I agree with all of your points I love ark and I really really do want ASA to succeed and I believe if it was executed properly it would have been awesome but it wasn’t executed well at all but I do believe it can be salvaged into an Awesome game and the best ark ever has been but that requires some work

I'm a new player to Ark having picked up ASA just a month ago and while I have seen a few visual errors I have found an interesting game that definitely looks able to keep me entertained for hours. Yet, I keep seeing videos like this where a current content creator who doesn't understand game development panics over the fact that the game isn't 100% ready and each map is taking longer than expected.
And all of the delays make a ton of sense, even the ones surrounding the Wildcard team being inexperienced in using Unreal Engine 5. And I'll address that first in two sections.
1. while the transition from Unreal Engine 4 to Unreal Engine 5 isn't as jarring as some of the other possible transitions (Unity to any Unreal Engine is much more difficult) there are a number of foundational differences that mean that the programs of each module need time to work out how to incorporate the changes and make them work. The engine can handle more variables and tighter graphical interlacing, but that requires more detail in the programming to ensure that you've captured all of the possible outputs from each equation. It can take time to learn how to make everything work, and its clear that the Wildcard team decided that porting ASE to Unreal Engine 5 and creating ASA was the way they'd figure out how to make the changes work in any new game they were going to work on. Unfortunately we've found out that they did not always take the time to fix some of the larger "bugs" that people complain about, something that they should have done considering that they shouldn't want those bugs around in Ark 2, but from playing I can say that the game is as good and stable as most other survival games I've played recently.
2. Programming in Unreal Engine 5 works similar to in most larger engines, in that the programming is module based. You'll have a combat module, a movement module, AI modules for each different mob, probably multiple graphic modules for the MP because you can have different body types, weapons, armor, and fighting styles. Each module will be programmed by an different team, with a team moving on once their section is complete, and many programmers specializing in working on one type of module. I expect that some teams have mostly transitioned over to work on Ark 2 as their elements for ASA are considered to be stable enough for the moment while the graphic and design teams try to push the maps out so that they can stablize the situation with the player base.
Next, on the poor communication.
This is sadly understandable, if wrong. Wildcard clearly is worried about the low morale in the player base and they need to avoid any announcement that might lower the morale further. So even while they likely knew there were issues with the map for The Center not being in a good place, they hoped they could pressure the sub-contractor into completing the map in time to allow a release, even if it was not complete. However, its clear someone within the company looked at the state of the latest build and realized that releasing it would be worse than a delay. So as players we get a disheartening announcement and people panic.
Overall, the situation is definitely frustrating and I can understand why people are unhappy, but its also a case of Wildcard being under pressure to provide enough income to pay for the continued development, which is a huge part of why ASA came out when it did. It was both to practice the programming needed in Unreal Engine 5 so that hopefully Ark 2 would be a clearly better game, and a way to generate some income while Ark 2 was being completed. It is my understanding that they were forced to rush the game out ahead of the advice of the programmers due to the delays bleeding through their capital, and now they are having to try to rush to get enough content out to avoid crashing both Ark Survival and Ark 2 simultaneously.
Not to mention ASA was supposed to be free,instead they made it 40 bucks and the old game’s better.
Cannot wait for scorched earth. The only thing i am scared about is that a lot of the content that comes with the siblings pack seems like a griefers paradise. I think this will be pure chaos at launch.
I play satisfactory by Coffee Stain Studios. They had the same growing pains as wild card but they handled things differently. The weekly stream by two fantastic community mangers kept us informed. You never felt like they missed a deadline because they kept us informed. They did say they were unsure if they would go to unreal engine 5 but gave us a surprise when they did. They addressed issues and fixed them. They went from the older unreal engine to unreal engine 5 in less time than wild card. I always thought wild card could take lessons from coffee stain and how they communicate with players. They also don’t get offended and acknowledge bugs and then fix them. The livestreams every week are very entertaining.
Surely they could start with actually fixing bugs that’ve plagued ark forever? Might be a good start.

Just let me play with my friends who are on Xbox without having to purchase a server. They told us that cross platform play within the game, we bought the game and was extremely devastated to find out that we have to purchase a server first. It's literally only three of us, I don't want to pay for a server just to play with the three of us on the settings that we like. That's something that should come standard in games released in 2023 and beyond.
Fixing the save bug so progress isn't lost would help "save" it.
If they had a date to get their shit together we all know it would just get delayed

I’ve had no issues with the game but I do have a beast of a PC. My friends however can’t play it very well making me want to play it a lot less.
Should've just kept adding stuff to ASE, maybe slowly updating graphics and such and adding new creatures to maps and such and focus on Survival Evolved 2 in the background

Man i wish i had the problem of getting bored of the island, however, my PC with only slightly under the recommended hardware cannot run the game for shit. Even on the lowest of the low settings it is a stuttering mess. Back to ASE for me…
Honestly I have to agree that releasing Scorched Earth on April First will either make or brake ASA as people are not happy about The Center delay and IF they delay Scorched Earth again, its honestly over for them.

Before i knew about the existence of asa is was extremly hyped for ark 2 so i really really hope when they drop ark 2 that its done its finished its a good game (Cause ASA isnt finished yet its so extreemly rushed we can all see that and we see what it does to the community) I really hope that dosnt happens to ark 2 i really hope ark 2 releases in the next 12 months from now and that isnt rushed and is finished and that is gonna be a good game!
ARK will forever be a very important game to me as ive played it for years... Ever since it came out as a game preview on console... It was on ARK i met my friend, who introduced me to his mates and few weeks later introduced me to a girl, and this girl. 4-5 years later me and this girl are still talking and our friendship is stronger than ever and could soon become a relationship. BUT the POINT IS... ARK is an amazing game and a amazing franchise filled with a wonderful community, however the game is dying... and i honestly believe this is it for ARK... I WOULD LOVE ! For ark to come back and be as great as i remember it to be, how we all remember it to be, hope ASA is better than ASE but way its going its increasingly seems unlikely... And hope ARK 2 saves the game but again... We'll see.
When the game came out in 2017 on consoles i was 11, Im now 17, and will soon be 18... Ive had highs and lows in ark and in life and ARK and the people ive met through ark has massively helped me get through it all!
and i think the lesson all of us are learning now is that ofc we should hope for the best ! and while it is an absolute shame this game has fallen so hard, we shouldn't be sad its COULD over, but instead be happy this game happened and be happy for all the experiences we've had through this game.
Optimize the game is really a big one, not releasing $30 dlcs with a Dino and trains is another.
They should have just gone with ark two fully, there was no need for asa, if they worked on ark and released it with new maps and a continuation of the storyline, and then later on revamped some of the old maps and brought them to ark 2 then it would have been amazing, because we would have had a fresh experience with some of the old maps as well. also i thought ark 2 was like ark 1 with more features like a skill tree and stuff not a dark souls battle type game.
although im a new ark player these maps are more then remasters! the visual difference and experience overall (when not turning down graphic settings) make it a world of a difference
one of the biggest issues is that the game has serious server lag, the spawns around the player is a joke. And if you know how to do it, you can get a lot of meat from fish and other creatures just by logging in and out of the game. However the biggest issue is Mods, and while it is more noticeable with mods, vanilla structures also suffers big time with this. Any structure that has the option to use Multi User Entries, you know the ones where you hold "E" and the radial wheel pops up. Or even the buttons in Inventories, will get stuck in unknow states because the server lag decides to loose the request from the client. Dedicated Storage is the worst offender here, and it just gets worse with no end in sight

I've been playing official on the switch. Since I purchased the game last year.
Breaks my heart to see so much negativity around this game! I had never heard of this game 3 years ago and literally scoffed at the idea of a dinosaur game. I was hooked instantly and even moved to steam so i could enjoy the game with mods. I am even subscribed to most ark youtubers because i couldn't get enough of the game. The 100 days videos have to be my favourite, they are more entertaining than most Hollywood movies these days.
Now i am back to console because my poor little laptop struggled with the menu, nevermind the gameplay. I am struggling trying to find a server as it seems a lot are closing and too right, the price of a server for 1 map is outrageous. So i am on single player and oh my it ended up unplayable for a while. Resources not respawning to not saving. It is saving now but the tek cave mountain is still bare of obsidian...
I genuinely thought nice one i'll be at the beginning of this game, find a server and hopefully find some ark friends but it's not looking that way so far. I am hopeful but i don't have much left right now.

Don't count on it, Wildcard is not a good studio and has been shady from start. Scorched Earth was when game first launched in Early Access was suppose to be part of original game. But Wildcard lost a court battle for one founders stealing code from company he quit to form Wildcard. So now they got a 50 million dollar judgement against them and that why they scammed people with a DLC in early access so customers could pay that co-owner was a bad person.

When I first went to purchase ascended (on my Xbox 1S) I was super excited to finally get to give mods a try and the graphics looked AMAZING, I was so incredibly hyped but then, sadly the library said that “this game is not supported by this platform due to graphical issues” or something along those lines and I was absolutely devastated… looking back, I’m glad, it wasn’t nearly as good as I imagined, and mods, quite frankly are simply not worth that mess of a game

Ah yes. Cleaning up the code base, by not implementing half the features and what is implemented has the exact same bugs as the old game in its infancy. Truly remarkable cleanup! Nearly bursting with how much competence they clearly have when it comes to developing a core game system.
Also I'm sure the extremely high staff churn helps a lot, when you're a relatively speaking a senior in the company at your first anniversary. That screams of a healthy and well managed work place that doesn't overwork their staff and that deep and old knowledge of their code base!

It's weird seeing these videos when me and my buddies enjoy it on our own server every day with minimal problems and we're on Xbox I mean sure it don't look nearly as good as PC folks get but for people who work alot and play sparingly even with just one map we've found alot to do but Def hope it stays alive and they come out with more maps and stuff

The only people who have my sympathy in this whole debacle are creators. They base their channels around the games, and as you once pointed out to one of my comments they HAVE to stay current. They put so much effort into their work, literally their hearts and souls. It's a god damn shame.
They should have moved on to ARK 2 instead of this catastrophe. Even if the new system in what they described was not for me doing something NEW would have gotten them a lot more goodwill, and wouldn't have been such a blatant, insulting moneygrab. Fortunately ASE and all its maps are still there, and still very enjoyable to play. It's proving to be the REAL evergreen experience in Ark. Your video inspired me to try the Hunted mod and it's been a total blast. The bitter feelings about being right about ASA is nowhere close to compensation. At all.
If they were honest during August before the closing of ASE servers, players would have been willing to contribute to a Extra life like event to hold down Snail Games....instead they screwed us over on official servers, and made us wait....cancelled the extra content promised in reference to maps,and trapped us on a single map for $50 plagued with software bugs😢

On the Ark 2 discussion. Part of the reason why i bought ASA to begin with is because they sold it as a way to fund Ark 2.
So being someone who *wanted* Ark 2. I bought ASA to experience some of the DLC i didnt buy/get around to really doing much with yet in a new engine with crisp visuals while they finish Ark 2.
But now Ark 2 might not even come out?(rumor i heard) idk. Just unfortunate the way things have gone.
They should’ve kept the survival evolved Official servers, running in case if something like this happened
Honestly I think the biggest problem with ASA is the massive amounts of cheaters on official PVP, because most, if not all, of the PVE servers are fairly full, but there is rarely a time when official PVP servers are capped, if they could fix the cheating problem that would help player count stabilize where then they could start working on bringing in more content. Even if they brought a whole new map, it'll only boost player count temporarily, just because PVP servers will get taken over by cheaters
I'm going to be honest, I knew from day 1 where it was announced that ASA was gonna be a dumbster fire on release and likely for a long while afterwards. I never expected to be good, have a lot of content, or be even remotely optimized. I whole heartedly expected it to be a buggy mess with little content and horrible optimization for at least a year after it's release. So now that I've had the chance to sit down and watch this video it just confirms everything I already knew was gonna happen. If they continue to support the game my guess is that it will be in a "better then ASE" state in around a year maybe 2 years down the line.
