06/05/2024 update: They have just released a new $5 pay to win dino with the new center map. After charging us $40 the game, and then $40 for bobs tall tales. All while being 6 new maps behind schedule now. The new dino has pretty much no counter play, and even if someone gave you one, you cant ride it without paying up. Don't buy this game lmao.
the average pvp andy: woooow the games so pretty.... 'sets everything to low, removes all vegetation clutter and textures, plugs in aimbot, ddos's server' aright now im ready to game.
Ya the whole reason for moving to UR5 was to improve those issues. But they went bat shit crazy with upping the graphics that they ruined any chance of ARK SA running well for large bases/PVP battles. It will take YEARs and I mean YEARS now until ARK SA can compete with ARK SE when it comes to accessibility.... ARK SE can run on a gosh darn 560 or 660 GPU, ARK SA can barely run on a 2060, let alone the 1080 they recommend on min. It's nuts. 1080 was the lowest end GPU required to play ARK SE on max graphics at 1080p, and now it's the minimum required to run ARK SA at 20FPS on low.
@@Alte.Kameraden Dude I can run ASE on my old MSi laptop with a 980gtx. It runs on mostly epic with a few of the expensive settings turned off. Runs flawlessly for me. It's almost hard to believe. Most of Arks problems are server, network, and port settings as it requires some knowledge and work on the client side to make the game run more reliably. Especially when playing on Unofficial servers with mods. The one problem they are yet to fix with ASA is the player cache. If you have all engrams unlocked, thousands of dinos in storage, and alot of data on your character you will get kicked from every server. Just like ASE. It's a shame.
@@yperbeatz5356 I don´t even have the minimum requirements and it works good just because some people don´t understand how to optimize their pc and their games it doesn´t mean that it´s not going to work. I got a 1050 2GB and my CPU is ass if you guys keep downloading the newest drivers of nvidia surely optimizing won´t help for an example.
Lol so true I don't even want to know what console will look like. Just sad because it had so much potential to be one of the greatest games of all time instead it's the most corrupt game of all time. I don't wanna give more money to Chinese government.
Might be an unpopular opinion, but no movement speed multiplier sounds like you might actually have a reason to tame more than a flier, an argy and anky and a doedic. (Edit) woah most liked comment haha not as unpopular as I thought
I feel like this should have been a pvp only option, they are trying to sell it as an upgraded perk of pvp but in reality it’s because they know the game can’t handle shit zooming across the map
The speed change was more than welcome. It felt really stupid seeing people outrun raptors and other predators. I'm really glad they disabled that and on dinos as well that could be easily abused.
@@Jriniscool Mostly PVE players liked it, it's very dumb that they disabled it for PVE as well. They could have kept it with PVP No one on PVE is complaining about this shit because we wasn't the one's complaining about it.
On the server topic, that fact that 45-50kl ppl bought the game and the total slots on official servers (pvp+pve+smalls=196 servers x 70 slots) is around 14k. Completely underprepared and some slimy smelly bs imo. You rock Albert!
@@butterfinger4393 No, but being able to accommodate more than 25% of players would have been a bit smarter. Historically only 40% of the player base has been officials. That would have a been a good mark to shoot for.
@@butterfinger4393 This dude doesn't play ASA. There is ABSOLUTELY NO WAY this guy plays it. EVERY SINGLE ONE
my brother in christ, 7:10 building overhaul is one of the biggest changes in ASA. You were doing so well. You needed to try the building a little bit more. No longer do we have to make separate walls, door frame, windows, etc. Now it's all in 1. You press R to switch between them. No longer can you only pick up structures within 30s only, now it's forever. There's not many restrictions this time around. The snaps are super flexible. They even added new structures like secret walls, quarter walls, cellars, etc. Building on tree platform is actually fun now too. It's a huge overhaul. If you keep playing the game casually you'll notice this no problem.
@@noroom4commies086 I mean he has a point. There really is nothing to do underwater besides taming certain marine life. But he wasn’t complaining either.
If hes big into just pvp it makes sense, aside from cheesing structures pvp players usually just make a tiny box in a hidden corner and call it a base.
Notice on your initial video flyover how you only see one spino and very few other dinos? They greatly reduced the dino rate as a workaround to the poor performance. If they spawned as many dinos as in the original, your framerate would be in the single digits.
the graphics overall was unnecessary. ark had good graphics as it was, we wanted bug fixes and performance fixes which were already a problem with ark and they went and made performance worse.
Take a look at this vid, old bugs weren’t fixed, new bug appeard, server hosting drama. The whole selling point of ASA is graphic. I’ve encountered i chopped a tree 3 times. Usually the tree falling animation will play after you fully harvest it. But it happened for me 3 times. At first, I thought maybe the server was a lil bit laggy, but I remember i play in solo. They may have placed tree at the same spot many time. That graphics part now was counterproductive , it was too much that placing dinos will tank performance. Spoil alert Not only that, i take a look at game file, doing some data mining,… Remember the baby dinos and dinos migrate from one place to another? Yes, this problem made a loophole. It’s not bad, in fact i found these two new features are as good as the new pathfinding ai for dinos. But the baby dinos has a threshold to be spawned depending on, let’s say, number of dino pack. Like if you have a group of 3 trikes, it’s highly to spawn 1-2 baby trikes. If you have a group of 10 trikes, the baby dinos can be spawn ranged from 2-5. And that not taking into consideration of the migrating, since if 1 group of 8 migrate to 1 group of 5, the number baby dinos that can be spawned is 50% max of that new groups. The bigger picture of lacking dinos is they need to figure out what is the optimal number of plantations/vegetations that are placed in the map. That make new features work well, and not tanking performance. Looks like that spawn zone changes a lil bit, but the threshold, max creatures allowed (not counting the baby dinos and dino migrating) still as same as ASE. The new graphic is counterproductive, even for ASE. Since i give Wildcard benefit of the doubt, “the game just normal as ASE, but dino migrating make the map looks scarce”. But many ark content creator have make a tour around the map, no dinos or very little at all in the mainland, interestingly Carno Island is crowned with dinos, beach have couple of dinos too. And the difference is beach and Carno Island have very least amount of plantations/vegetations compare to big jungle/forest, also the beach is starting zone of many player. They place some dinos there but the Carno Island isn’t spawn zone, but also have very least trees/ bushes. They either didn’t test new Ark properly or just didn’t test at all and figured this problem out at very late near the day early access.
i may not play asa as much as the original but man am i upset i cant get ark 2 for free or vica versa depending on how you choose to look at it along with asa because too many people had to cry about not getting asa for free. now i either have to pay full price for both or choose one over the other. i may not ever experience asa now because of this ultimatum. regardless as to whether or not some people think asa isnt worth it those that do want to play it get the sht end of the stick because those that dont threw a tantrum. its just a whole lot of selfishness and entitlement.
The reason why the shadows set to low lets you see underwater is because it literally disables all the shadows. And the way your vision is clouded underwater is because of the shadows.
I hope they change the dino models because although some of the ported creatures look good or fine, there's quite a lot that look very bad, especially against the backdrop. As for the map itself, it looks good aside from the ground clutter because a lot of the grass and stones float. For the bugs it's ridiculous considering they talked about how they are cleaning and rebuilding the code yet the reload bug that was there from day 1 ASE is still there day 1 ASA along with all the other bugs. So they clearly didn't and cut corners.
don't forget certain bugs that kills the pvp like turrets not shooting rockets when you jump and ignoring grenades completly aswell as the ability to change your game to a Hard INI with simple ingame commands and the bug with the trapdoor bringing you under the map (aka mesh) everywhere by setting them to open into the bottom
TLCs are coming soon, many of them. They will be based on votes, so its our job to decide what needs a TLC more. I honestly love the voting system they do.
@@fruitybluieblue098 The ones that need it are those that came before Genesis that haven't already had a TLC. Excluding a small handful where their model isn't actually that bad.
I don't think it's worth it. When they said ARK SE was going to be ported to Unreal Engine 5. I was excited because I wanted the engine improvement. Not the massive graphic overhaul. I expected the graphics would be better because of the improved engine. But when they showed the first Trailer, my heart sank to my stomach. I knew then ARK SA as I dreamed it was a pipe dream. Massive Bases, huge PVP Battles, it's all a Pipe dream now. Who can run this game and endure a huge base and PVP Battles? I doubt anyone. It's ridiculous what they did with this game. I mean we only recently in the past few years got to a point that literally anyone could play ARK SE, just ARK SE didn't like newer hardware very much, and UR5 could have fixed that. Honestly what Wildcard did here with ARK SA I think they did to justify charging players more for the game. But as a result we have a game that is now insanely inaccessible when compared to ARK SE. I call ARK SA Insanity, because I don't want to think what went on during meetings for this game. They went beyond just a port in the worst ways possible personally. I don't want the graphics, I want the other game improvements like UI/Building/Etc, but if I turn graphics down even to LOW, it will not run as well as ARK SE does on Epic on my computer, which I find insulting. The Polar OPPOSITE of what I hoped for when ARK SA was announced. I SPIT at this game. ERRR but you can just turn the graphics down, use console commands remove the sky. etc... ya but by that point the game starts looking WORSE than ARK SE, making it pointless.
Everyone knew that ASA was a money grab for ARK 2 "allegedly". I think the devs waisted more time and effort on ASA as, as soon as ARK 2 drops ASA will be just another game in everyone's steam and console library.
1. Devs add new particle effects to make it look nice, 2. Crashes and lags people's game. 3. Devs and content creators, just turn them off, here's what I use "produces a high end computer" What was the fucking point in the update that updates our graphics, to then just play it on a lower setting 😂, Just gunna keep playing ASE but use mods that do the same thing as ASA. And I don't like the fact that the "community" got what they wanted when they got Ark 2 seperate from the bundle and ASA not a free update. Like how is that a fucking Upgrade, people are just Idiots 😂
If you disable some settings through using the console (such as the volumetric clouds) you'll more than double your fps. And because they use all the new UE5 engine features bigger bases won't mean lesser performance like in ASE. So if you're able to run the game well enough you'll be able to run the game well enough. The only limiting factor in having more things happening on screen will be your cpu power. Cool thing is that if you're system is really old or scrappy, you can upgrade to a new platform by going pure budget, not paying much and still being able to run ASA well.
@@DeltaNovum To be honest you'd need a bare minimum of a 4070 to run ARK SA well currently. Which isn't what I'd call budget. A 3060 isn't even budget yet because of the current pricings. Budget build is a system that you can argue is under $1000 USD, something that is a bit more expensive than a video game console but not absurdly more expensive. Though I'd argue many consider budget builds something that is comparable price wise to a console. Issue is you're not going to get a PC that runs ARK SA at this moment that is under $1000, so no, there is no budget build currently that I think can run this game reasonably. If they fix the problems I'm planning on upgrading my PC to a 4070 and 32GB of RAM. I already have a CPU Right now I'd say a budget built would be using a used 1080 on the cheap, maybe a 2060 or 2070. None of which will run this game well. 2080ti can technically run it well with the tweaks you mentioned, but if you're using console commands to fix FPS issues that's still a serious problem with the game.
Its very pretty but the same old bugs are there. Yeah it looks nicer but from what ive seen and heard it plays and feels the same. Maybe if the bugs from the previous ASE was fixed and there was a noticeable change in performance id get it. but without a new official map and the performance issues i would say its not worth it especially if youve already played every DLC like me.
It has a lot of subtle changes under the hood. It certainly does not play the same at all, meta has changed a lot. There are wild baby dinos now if you don't like to tame the old way. Kindly play the game first before you provide an opinion lol
@@ramage7646 Ive watched enough reviews to determine if i want to buy it or not you dont have to play the game to make a opinion on it. Im aware of pretty much all the new features. The only thing that interest me is the new building system and visuals. But my biggest deal breaker was performance and its no better than ASE. Im glad youre enjoying ASA though. But for me im going to wait.
@@Harly206I'm with you bud, a ton of ASA could have been quality of life changes for ASE minus the graphics updates. Babies out in the wild was done for penguins, and people modded in better building
@@ramage7646 All the changes are something I'd expect from a decent mod. Nothing Wildcard has done has justified this sequel, as I feel they could have put the same amount of effort into ASE and achieve the same experience while also fixing bugs instead of porting them.
@@Averysh It features a significantly better navmesh and associated functions. A Navmesh is how an AI agent determines where it can and can not move. So just updating and using these prebuilt functions would have resulted in significantly better pathfinding
Thing is they always said they'd optimize their last title and it never happened. If you head to the steam store right now you can see the game ARK: Survival Evolved has minimum requirements but not recommended. They'll always gaslight you about adding content then optimizing. Or something to that effect.
I think it's important to note, despite the graphics being absolutely beautiful in comparison to ASE. Unless you are running a 4000 series you will have to tone down the graphics to a point were it's on par if not even worse to ASE with a lower frame rate. Im running the recommend hardware sepcs and can say my game looks nothing like the trailers or somw video's you see online with 4090's
I honestly wish they did more to change the pvp. A bunch of people in flak running at mock 10 on foot with bolas flying everywhere killed it for me. I remember when we would bring dinos to siege someone's cool fort.
When it comes to running speed, in the server settings when making your item single player game, there is a check-in that allows you to upgrade running speed.
asa hit boxes and wild dino ai feels worse than ase, on asa dinos literally can't hit you if you move left or right, picks are bugged, the characters are soooooo small and hit reg is god awful
characters are so small you cant see them in the grass thats everywhere on the map, I honestly think its 2 steps forward 3 steps back (mesh holes from 2015 are back in the game aswell)
Yes very, I think it's all fixable and will be better in the future. But I literally had a Rex that couldn't track me out of a river as it couldn't swim
No, it really does feel 100x better. Even top PVP youtubers have noticed that day one. I also have been personally hitting shots that just wouldn't have been possible on ASE. Also, you can ACTUALLY hit ichthyornis's with arrows and rocks now, where it was nearly impossible in ASE. I was even hitting flick shots. Clearly the hit reg is better. Idk about you. Also, wild dino AI is massively better after some short testing. They can navigate around rocks, and even get to you on top of them. They also don't just leap off cliffs after you anymore. They actually find a safe path down to you. They do the same to get up the cliff, as well. Oh, and if you attack baby dinos, parent dinos that are usually passive like parasaurs will actually protect their young and attack you if they have to. I hit a baby parasaur by accident and it and the other babies ran to the mom to hide under it. The mom even stood in a stance without moving while staring at me. @@SimplyTexy
"Is Ark Survival Ascended Worth It???" I can answer you that question in less then 13:53!! NO, Not only you have to rebuy whole game but also new pc just to run it, not to mentions lots of other problems! And also this is still same game, nothing new came and nothing new will come in future, after all its essentially remake!
I'm a PVE player exclusively and this game has fixed every issue I had with the previous one and I just upgraded my PC this last spring, I still crash but I'm happy with my purchase, especially since all the DLC maps are getting added later too, I could for sure see why PVP players wouldn't buy it tho
Xbox pve player here: do you know if pillar spaming is still a thing? Also, could you go a little more in detail about noticeable improvements(understandable if you say no)?
@@jordanhurst4460 sorry I can't say much for multiplayer PvE because I just do single player but the build mechanics have been completely overhauled and nearly every structure can be painted now including crafting benches and most things have snap points that didn't before, the new AI is so much better and a bunch of other quality of life improvements. I love the upgrade probably because I don't have to deal with the multiplayer issues and I didn't know many of them even in the last game
yeah they are once again catering to the minority for some reason (pve players) this update is great for pvp players but there's so many changes to pvp not even mentioned in this video that absolutely have made pvp unbearable, I have 14k hours in pvp and I think I'm hanging up ark, unless they make so many changes I know they won't make I don't see myself playing
@jordanhurst4460 - Multiplayer PvE pillars is still a thing. However, you can ask people to remove the ones you want for your build area. But if its any important spawn points, they will not remove them because its important recourse spawn points. Although these servers take a while to find because most people just don't care and will pillar down everything so others can't play. Another about the good community servers is that they have community dino traps for everyone to use. Just remember to get good positive reputation because that will be a massive positive down the road towards many.
Besides all these good things, look at the state of herbivore island, 13 brontos. 13. Holes in the map, the explorer note by the rock opens everyone you rub by, no xp boost given, the horrible small rock textures floating and crap, rocks that have the textures of rocks that can be hit, but aren’t hittable. The grass being taller than your character, like on Ragnaroks plains biome it makes sense, but in the jungle?
Craziest part is people have stopped talking about them forcefully shutting down AsE network to force sales. Funny thing is, ASA probably uses ASE hardcode. So they had to shut it down or both clients could have connected to the same servers.
I agree with most of your points but I do believe the hit reg got a whole lot better in asa, I’ve snipes a lot of small flyers out of the air with a crossbow that would’ve never ever been possible in ase
even if it is better, name one game that has hit reg problems, you really can't, hit reg is one of the most basic aspect of video game coding and the issue stems from wildcard having shit hitbox movement and tracking, when streamers played atlas (an ark knockoff made by wildcard) these streamers who had never played ark were ASTONISHED by how their shots weren't hitting because theyve never seen that in a game before, it goes to show how ark is the only game with this issue and it's a huge downside of ark that makes pvp less skillful and more luck based
The game does look great, but I just can't justify the visuals for the performance cost. There are other games out there that look amazing and run pretty well too, like Cyberpunk or Red Dead Redemption 2, and while in a lot of ways this game does look better, it does not look enough better to make up for the huge performance loss vs those other games imo. Idk if that's just Unreal 5 being too hard to run on current hardware, or just the devs poorly optimizing the game, but the problem is there regardless (I'm leaning towards bad optimization honestly, and I hope that's the case lol). Anyway, just doesn't seem worth it imo, at least not atm
Idk, they have done some pretty decent performance updates over the last few days and they've already increased the FPS by 10 for me without doing any of their major updates yet. They are releasing about 2-3 patches a day. At this rate, we'll have a performant game in a couple months maybe. Obviously, you still need a 40 series GPU to get high frames (frame gen is a massive cheat) but you can get 70fps on mid range 30 series GPUs by just playing on all low. Game STILL looks way better than ASE on low. Honestly, ASA is the best looking game I've ever played, and I've played many, MANY games over my entire life. In fact, the Epic settings are actually above our current generations of hardware. You CAN still run in on 4090s, but you have to use DLSS and Frame Gen to get to above 100fps. The raw power just isn't there. Of course, I'm talking about 4k. 2k runs really good.
for anyone having insane fps issues this worked for me: disable everything from the rtx tab and put the resolution on 1080p or less, all resolutions above that have horrible performance issues i dont know why well i mean the performance does not scale down with the resolution but instead drops entirely also by disabling rtx features you can run some things at higher quality, in my case it did allow me to change textures from low to high and some other things to medium. Hope it helps someone oh and if someone is playing in full screen mode go and right click the exe of the game go to compatibility and enable the option "disable full screen optimization" full screen optimization is a feature of windows 10-11 that is suposed to help game performance when any game is full screen but it sucks away the life of your game making it run a lot worse, this is not only for ark btw.
I can agree with the whole vid apart from the movement speed change.. Not allowing people to become speedy gonzales is amazing.. How do you have combat with someone who teleports around?
I played fuckin heaps of survival evolved on official servers, then switched to solo and had a WAY better time. So i'm actually excited about about a lot of these changes.
I had low expectations for this game but I am honestly impressed. It is just Ark, but better. I play with a 3060TI and I just wanted to play some single player. At first it was horrible, crashing every 10 minutes with like 20 FPS. After messing around with the graphic settings a bit, I now run the game at 80 fps and it still looks wayyy better than the old Ark and I never crash anymore. Im really happy about the amount of qol changes and the removal of the speed stat was such a great idea. Well worth the $40 for me, but I mostly enjoy single player. I have heard quite a bit of complaints about multiplayer changes.
the main reason its not worth it is because its a major visual update with some minor gameplay changes being advertised and sold as a separate game, the fact we have to PAY for an update is mindblowing and theres so many people who dont even realise thats exactly what ASA is, the only reason we didnt get a visual and gameplay update like this to ASE is simply because of the older engine limitations, if that was not a thing then this content would be an update not a new game, at the very least they should have a discount for people who already own ASE because the fact we are paying full price for a reskin of ASE is mindblowing
To be honest i cant wait for them to add the other maps and optimise. I dont really want to buy it right now but i will definitely get it at some point since this is all of the changes they made are personal complaints i had with the og game
bought this day one on my series X: Only bug i got even now is transferring in single player doesn't give you ownership of tames and buildings. otherwise no crashes, no bone cancer, not much ive experienced.
As a vetern of ASE pvp in all officals and ARKALLTHETIME type stuff... ASA is genuinely more fun alone and with friends. PvP is better, and the optimization is fun. I'm glad it's better than it used to be. ASE has so much nostalgia, but ASA (now) is fun as all hell.
Is it worth playing old Ark or did the game die after Survival Ascended came out? Survival Ascended seems so cool to me, but I have 1660s + 12600kf and I doubt that it will handle new ark
Nah man, for console we definitely needed a better marker, for the most part it's easy but occasionally the green beam wouldn't load up until your ridiculously close and that shit sucked when you get killed running around in the dark forest lol
So, I did this recently so idk if something changed, but I didn’t have to apply for a license to start a dedicated server. It loaded up a 70 slot server without me having to do hardly anything.
I bought it for 45 bucks and immeadeatly regreted it. The only way i could play it was by streaming it from my laptop witch has a RTX305ti but if u have a shity internet steam game streaming isnt a vaible option for most people. However the final nail in the cofffin for me was when I tried to connect to server it had a bug witch showed "no session found" and imieadiatly afterwards I refunded the game. Not worth it in my opion.
If you’ve never played ark before, you should definitely wait maybe another month or two before trying the game so most of the blatant issues get ironed out first, but I can happily say, ignoring performance, this game is fantastic
9:55 they said this will not be available at launch. I don't blame you for this one because it was said on discord i believe. They still have awful communication. Also, all the bugs and crashes can all be fixed long term. It's still EA. They're not fixing all of them, but I would expect them to fix most of them. And tbh the Titan falling from sky is lowkey a feature. Cracks me up every time I see it.
It sounds harder that way because if they’ve got old bugs still kicking then it’s gonna be difficult to try and find the source. If they had rewritten it we might’ve had new bugs but at least then they can kill then off before it gets rooted into the game
Spent hours on the game just for it to crash, losing hours of progress, no proper save system. Too me the game is unplayable and the Servers are too laggy.
What's the point in the game looking good if you have to run it at low settings? Completely pointless. Obviously there are tons of good features but I'm not playing a game at below 60 fps with a RX 7900 XT in 2023. No way.
i remember when i had to do stretching exercises back in grad school, so i could have my fingers nice and relaxed for ase due to the amount of buttons i needed to press! now that theyve made stuff more compact, im fully stretched out and ready to play! thank you so much! that may just be what i needed to buy asa!
I have a $1200 computer from best buy and I can run this on High graphics with a 60fps limit. You most certainly don't need a $2K computer. Just use a decent SSD + 16GB ram and at least an NVIDIA 2060 or comperable. I also haven't crashed at all yet. I don't know if that's an update they already pushed.
If a game needs to be manually adjusted with console commands to achieve even a sub-60 stable framerate, then that's a massive failure. I wasn't expecting this game to run well, but this is Unreal 5. Did they just actively ignore all the optimization potential of the engine, and focus solely on making it look pretty?
I cannot believe people are actually paying for this. This should have been an update/overhaul to Ark Survival Evolved. It is baically a "next gen graphical update" with a few other minor tweaks. The greed of modern developers is incredible, yet whats even more incredible are the people still buying such products.
I think the worst part for me was the outright lie it would be free and then locking it to a preorder with Ark 2, and on top of that, it still most likely won’t be free after the two seperate
@@fruitybluieblue098 The Tweet from the Co-Founder of Wild Card is still up, and he says, and I quote, "The UE5 tease a couple weeks back is referring to in-the-works complete free upgrade/ remaster of ARK Survival Evolved in UnrealEngine5." I'd be happy to provide you with the link to the Tweet if you can't find it yourself or just don't believe me.
You counted not being able to increase move speed as a pvp downside but the plot twist is that it's an improvement Also, the crashes every 20 minutes isn't ENTIRELY on the game, it's also your system/settings, i've crashes ONCE in the entire time playing
@brandondeakins564 - I only get a bug where once I land with my flyer and get off I can't access anything but its only for one time because after logging off server and rejoining I only get slight rubber banding and that's about it. I play on Xbox Series X.
And the not access bug thing only happens once. Like you said it does have something to do with your PC or Console. When new PCs are upgraded even further and new Consoles are made better, ASA will be seen at its best.
I just want to know If Ark SE used to work fine in my pc, Will Ark SA work as fine or better? Cause I wan´t to buy it because it includes all DLC's (wich I never bought because of their individual price) and because it should run better in UnrealEngine basically
When that ever first ARK trailer dropped, i expected the game to be realistic, I had great fun playing it for a time, even got into a server dominating tribes, etc. But around than, the lack of realism forced me out of the game aha. each their own ^^ Kinda weird how they went through all that trouble, just to resell Ark as ascended.
New players to Ark will definitely enjoy ASA if they enjoy survival-crafting games and if they've never played ASE. If you already own ASE, don't bother buying it at it's current price. Not enough new content or fixes to justify spending your time on.
1 the game won’t be 60 it’s a pre release play the game as they develop it and 2 your gonna complain about buying what is considered a next Gen game and complain that you don’t own a next Gen console so you have to buy that too, lmao what were you expecting a last Gen release Xbox one couldn’t run this game
I am pretty much waiting for the game to either hit a better Discount due to a massive amount of issues and the overall worth dropping massively, or waiting until the game seems more stable and more Mods to make my return to it. I already kinda gave up on the game anyways due to playing it WAY too much and burning out too much to even complete a server I started on. Honestly I went over to Conan as a new game to play and I am loving it lol. P.S I am a little drowsy, so if my message is written a bit weird then that is why.
About your point that you need atleast a 2K computer, not actually true! My friend and I are hardcore ARK PVE fans, but his pc was shit so he couldn’t handle ASA. We decided to go get him a new pc, ended up with a pre-built that was around 1K, and now he’s running ASA on medium-high with 60 fps I have not had any hitmarker issues, something tells me it’s just a ping issue if you do. Titans falling out of the sky, while it still is jarring, it isn’t actually a bug. The Titan is so gigantic that they spawn it high up on purpose so it doesn’t get stuck in the mesh every time it spawns
It would be worth it if they fix the bug like all the floating rocks and fixed the game crashing multiple times an hour. The performance is horrible, even running it on my 4070 I have to dial the graphics back to low-medium
The company that makes ark has repeatedly shown they’re more interested in making money than making a good game. The time and labor required to polish arc, and to make it stable is a price their company owners are unwilling to pay.
One thing I hate is that they still haven’t fixed the annoying ass tether distance I know it can be turned off on pc but not everyone has the time and money for a pc
ASA couldn't even utilise UE 5 to its maximum potential It doesn't look much different than that of ASE in terms of texture and lighting Only the meshes are good as well as water but for that UE 5 takes the cake Also subbed you for that hilarious community guideline
To be honest, most of these things don’t sound like new game changes, it sounds like a bunch of stuff they should have fixed or tweaked in the previous game, where they didn’t give a shit or bother. Then come back 8 years later and republish the same game with updated graphics. Edit: Oh, just got to the server part of the video. Yeah, straight up greed.
Some changes are nice, some additions are nice, though unfortunately people aren't really looking at these changes in depth. However, I say look at what's left behind, I am one of few people who enjoyed primitive plus and very disappointed on the abandoned conversion mod and the unfortunate state Survival evolved was left in. It seems people who play Survival ascended are wearing rose tinted glasses, I don't want to hate on the game but it is a bit sad to see a remake of a game with various aspects left abandoned. I will continue to harp on some problems, but I am sure some people will agree, humans can be terrible people and Tek tier is not the greatest, I mean, a tier that is "nothing can outmatch this tier except Tek", overall it changed Ark from a Dino survival game with sci fi elements to a sci fi survival game with dinos. I am not often easily wowed by graphics. Its sort of like getting a house that is exactly like the house you currently have, it looks nice, the bricks are made of silver, the wood is of the highest quality, built by the best and highest quality noble Argatinian slaves. With a few additional bells and whistles but the problem is, there is blood on the main road, like lots of blood, there is death everyday, the local school gets 5 shootings a day. Its just a bad neighborhood.
Does the rifle still fuck up the reloading? Then you know it is still the same game code and you just traded in having lots of dinos for pretty picture mode. xD
I wanted to play this game, but because you cannot play this game without having to pay for a server @ minimum 26 dollars a month, it's going to have to be a pass for me, such a shame, looks good and fun to play especially with a few friends.
I think if you have a good PC that can manage like at least 40 frames on medium/high settings then the game is a good buy. It looks amazing. The game is also hilarious to play. I rented a server and you can find discount codes and save money by prepaying longer amounts of time. Overall the game can be buggy but the bit of spare time I have to hop on with my friends is completely worth it.
“If you care about performance” who the fuck looks at 20-30 FPS and is like “Yeah it’s fine” the game looks great… it’s the best power point presentation I’ve seen youtubers play. Wild card always prefers content over performance and it shows they have the exact same launch problems they did almost a decade ago. Same shit different bucket
Movement speed removal was a must needed change to stop all the tryhards running circles around velociraptors. No reason for players to be able to move that fast at all also they lowered the speed of a lot of the dinos to remedy the movement speed change which makes me wonder how much you’ve actually played before the review 🤔
I have played ARK evolved on some pretty low end computers and it always ran reasonably... on my gaming laptop with an I9, 32g of DDR5 and an RTX 4080m ASE looks and runs amazing on the highest settings possible... Right out of the box ASA crashed twice before I even got the game running and the graphics were a mess. The clouds looked like TV static. My FPS was horrible. I refunded... I will consider buying in a few years when there is a big steam summer sale. I normally dont ever buy new games to begin with.... I guess I needed a reminder why. ASE is an amazing, cheap game with so many free maps and amazing mods... ASA is expensive, runs poorly but can look beautiful on a super computer...
Honestly, for me the performance is so far the worst aspect. They promised a game in a new engine, that runs better, with less bugs and DLSS/FSR (which hugely boost performance) and ... we get a game that runs worse than 2015 ARK imo. You are litteraly required to run DLSS or FSR to even get above 60 FPS. Atleast if you don't own sth like a fricking RTX 4070 or higher... Just to shut some arguments down: I litteraly got like a 1,5k computer (which is more worth than my car) and this game runs like dogwater.
They did fix the Nitrado thing so now you can host your own servers on your machine now without getting a license.
bad servers
The movement change is the best thing, pvp suffered from movement speed issues all fight was won by beening as fast as possible.
You can turn on movement speed btw
you can turn it on in world settings though
the average pvp andy: woooow the games so pretty....

The speed change was more than welcome. It felt really stupid seeing people outrun raptors and other predators. I'm really glad they disabled that and on dinos as well that could be easily abused.

my brother in christ, 7:10 building overhaul is one of the biggest changes in ASA.
He said “there is nothing to do underwater”

Thx for info

@@noroom4commies086 I mean he has a point. There really is nothing to do underwater besides taming certain marine life. But he wasn’t complaining either.

Notice on your initial video flyover how you only see one spino and very few other dinos? They greatly reduced the dino rate as a workaround to the poor performance. If they spawned as many dinos as in the original, your framerate would be in the single digits.
Traded in dinos in a dino game for pretty pictures. lmao
Oh wow great, a workaround that inconveniences the player
How about they fix the frame rate and leave the Dino’s
the graphics overall was unnecessary. ark had good graphics as it was, we wanted bug fixes and performance fixes which were already a problem with ark and they went and made performance worse.
Spoil alert
Not only that, i take a look at game file, doing some data mining,… Remember the baby dinos and dinos migrate from one place to another?

Better to wait, since Snail could wake up a random monday and shut down another one of their games.. like they always do.
Maybe then people will learn if they do. Think about it once they get all the early access money they just ghost.
Floating rocks were introduced after a performance hotfix, should be gone after a few days.
don't forget certain bugs that kills the pvp like turrets not shooting rockets when you jump and ignoring grenades completly aswell as the ability to change your game to a Hard INI with simple ingame commands and the bug with the trapdoor bringing you under the map (aka mesh) everywhere by setting them to open into the bottom

@@fruitybluieblue098 The ones that need it are those that came before Genesis that haven't already had a TLC.

@@bulletant880 ark 2 will be a fundamentally different game tho

I already have a CPU
Right now I'd say a budget built would be using a used 1080 on the cheap, maybe a 2060 or 2070.
Although these servers take a while to find because most people just don't care and will pillar down everything so others can't play. Another about the good community servers is that they have community dino traps for everyone to use. Just remember to get good positive reputation because that will be a massive positive down the road towards many.
they made everything prettier but the things under the surface got worse. not surprising, this is how theyve handled the game since the beginning.
Graphical upgrade is to be expected but did they fix ANY of the bugs the game has had for the better part of the last decade?
I agree with most of your points but I do believe the hit reg got a whole lot better in asa, I’ve snipes a lot of small flyers out of the air with a crossbow that would’ve never ever been possible in ase
I sniped an icthy like 20 mins ago, it isn't all that bad in ASE.
even if it is better, name one game that has hit reg problems, you really can't, hit reg is one of the most basic aspect of video game coding and the issue stems from wildcard having shit hitbox movement and tracking, when streamers played atlas (an ark knockoff made by wildcard) these streamers who had never played ark were ASTONISHED by how their shots weren't hitting because theyve never seen that in a game before, it goes to show how ark is the only game with this issue and it's a huge downside of ark that makes pvp less skillful and more luck based
Seeing like it’s Kansas made me laugh lmao good video
I agree, it looks good but not all that great. ASE is very nice on max settings, not worth the performance hit imo

for anyone having insane fps issues this worked for me: disable everything from the rtx tab and put the resolution on 1080p or less, all resolutions above that have horrible performance issues i dont know why well i mean the performance does not scale down with the resolution but instead drops entirely also by disabling rtx features you can run some things at higher quality, in my case it did allow me to change textures from low to high and some other things to medium.
Hope it helps someone
oh and if someone is playing in full screen mode go and right click the exe of the game go to compatibility and enable the option "disable full screen optimization" full screen optimization is a feature of windows 10-11 that is suposed to help game performance when any game is full screen but it sucks away the life of your game making it run a lot worse, this is not only for ark btw.
Im surprised that you can play a game in 30 fps and enjoy it, what resolution are you playing on as well?
I can agree with the whole vid apart from the movement speed change..
Not allowing people to become speedy gonzales is amazing.. How do you have combat with someone who teleports around?
I think a cap would be more productive. I don't like being ridiculously slow but it isn't fun when you tap W and warp across the map
All you need is a $2k pc, $60 more for the game, $26/month, and you might be able to experience 20 mins of fun before it crashes.
It's definitely upgrade imo, the mods load instantly now compared to sitting for 15 minutes loading my mega modded servers
the main reason its not worth it is because its a major visual update with some minor gameplay changes being advertised and sold as a separate game, the fact we have to PAY for an update is mindblowing and theres so many people who dont even realise thats exactly what ASA is, the only reason we didnt get a visual and gameplay update like this to ASE is simply because of the older engine limitations, if that was not a thing then this content would be an update not a new game, at the very least they should have a discount for people who already own ASE because the fact we are paying full price for a reskin of ASE is mindblowing
i hoped they optimized this, ASE is game from 2015 but still pretty heavy even for 3000 gtx series, like wth even witcher 3 runs super smooth
I think a lot of the big dev studios just forgot how to optimize lmao
@@saudade7842 maybe, just take a look at witcher 3 even gtx 1050 still can run it on high setting and it run smoothly
To be honest i cant wait for them to add the other maps and optimise. I dont really want to buy it right now but i will definitely get it at some point since this is all of the changes they made are personal complaints i had with the og game
"They changed the character creator"
"Awww, they probably took the crazy sliders away"
"No no, They made them way worse, and added more sliders."
woohoo
bought this day one on my series X: Only bug i got even now is transferring in single player doesn't give you ownership of tames and buildings. otherwise no crashes, no bone cancer, not much ive experienced.
AsA is the perfect example of the saying:
*_"Putting lipstick on a pig."_*
In SP you can still enable the option to level speed on yourself and flyers;)
This is just a paid update for the game, it would be better as a dlc, nothing has really changed and they changed the vibe for the game.
Is it worth playing old Ark or did the game die after Survival Ascended came out? Survival Ascended seems so cool to me, but I have 1660s + 12600kf and I doubt that it will handle new ark
Play old ark for now. It's cheaper and more stable.
Keep on mind the game is still in early access, there is a lot of features we were promised that we don't have yet, but there is still time
Dude ASE was in early access for years it’s going to be the exact same thing with ASA.
Two steps forward 7 steps back
If you’ve never played ark before, you should definitely wait maybe another month or two before trying the game so most of the blatant issues get ironed out first, but I can happily say, ignoring performance, this game is fantastic
Industrial grill & forge cost no fuel to power. Generators do need cables to power electronics.
Spent hours on the game just for it to crash, losing hours of progress, no proper save system. Too me the game is unplayable and the Servers are too laggy.
Is'nt it strange how a "good" computer is regarded as better than a "pretty good" computer
What's the point in the game looking good if you have to run it at low settings? Completely pointless. Obviously there are tons of good features but I'm not playing a game at below 60 fps with a RX 7900 XT in 2023. No way.
It’s terribly designed. Constant crashing and awful performamce. I’ll stick with AsE for now.
i remember when i had to do stretching exercises back in grad school, so i could have my fingers nice and relaxed for ase due to the amount of buttons i needed to press! now that theyve made stuff more compact, im fully stretched out and ready to play! thank you so much! that may just be what i needed to buy asa!
Don't it's fucking garbage. From a garbage publisher who fucked their player base.
Your posture, breathing, and mobility matters a shit ton.
11:21
they acctually made us a big favor! the old communities will not migrate to the new game and we will still have a game to play
I think the nitrado monopoly and not being able to host your own server will kill this game quite easily
Haven’t played ark in a few years now is ascended still as slow paced as the original
Don't ever fall those who tell you that. Wild Card never said that ASA will and would be free.
@@fruitybluieblue098 The Tweet from the Co-Founder of Wild Card is still up, and he says, and I quote, "The UE5 tease a couple weeks back is referring to in-the-works complete free upgrade/ remaster of ARK Survival Evolved in UnrealEngine5." I wish you were right and it was just a rumor, but this claim is still up and available for you to see yourself if you want to check it out. I'd be happy to provide you with the link to the Tweet if you can't find it yourself or just don't believe me.
If you are really looking for a reason to go underwater, you can mine a lot more stuff with a dunk.
You counted not being able to increase move speed as a pvp downside but the plot twist is that it's an improvement
Also, the crashes every 20 minutes isn't ENTIRELY on the game, it's also your system/settings, i've crashes ONCE in the entire time playing
maybe try playing small tribes the servers still now crashed frequently
its definitely on the game for its poor optimization lol
@brandondeakins564 - I only get a bug where once I land with my flyer and get off I can't access anything but its only for one time because after logging off server and rejoining I only get slight rubber banding and that's about it. I play on Xbox Series X.
And the not access bug thing only happens once. Like you said it does have something to do with your PC or Console. When new PCs are upgraded even further and new Consoles are made better, ASA will be seen at its best.
I just want to know If Ark SE used to work fine in my pc, Will Ark SA work as fine or better? Cause I wan´t to buy it because it includes all DLC's (wich I never bought because of their individual price) and because it should run better in UnrealEngine basically
i appreciate you for this video man
When that ever first ARK trailer dropped, i expected the game to be realistic, I had great fun playing it for a time, even got into a server dominating tribes, etc.
But around than, the lack of realism forced me out of the game aha. each their own ^^ Kinda weird how they went through all that trouble, just to resell Ark as ascended.
really glad i found this before i bought it ty man!
I like the idea of removing speed, but better would a Limit on how much speed you want to put in
New players to Ark will definitely enjoy ASA if they enjoy survival-crafting games and if they've never played ASE. If you already own ASE, don't bother buying it at it's current price. Not enough new content or fixes to justify spending your time on.
Can’t wait to see the new Alcatraz in ASA. Bob won’t know what hit ‘em. Love ya traf
No, it doesn't if you don't own an Xbox Series SX yet. That's a big paywall of $760 (at least here in Canada), $700 for the console, $60 for the game
We decided to go get him a new pc, ended up with a pre-built that was around 1K, and now he’s running ASA on medium-high with 60 fps
I have not had any hitmarker issues, something tells me it’s just a ping issue if you do.
Titans falling out of the sky, while it still is jarring, it isn’t actually a bug. The Titan is so gigantic that they spawn it high up on purpose so it doesn’t get stuck in the mesh every time it spawns
No matter how great the graphics are, if it doesn't achieve the bare minimum of 60fps on most computers then it is not worth buying it.
It would be worth it if they fix the bug like all the floating rocks and fixed the game crashing multiple times an hour. The performance is horrible, even running it on my 4070 I have to dial the graphics back to low-medium
The performance and base bugs not being patched is a NO for me. Unless they go through and fix the fps and bugs.
At the moment I would wait unless you intend to play private, official servers are a mess crashes DCs, patches.. almost no dinos etc etc.
The company that makes ark has repeatedly shown they’re more interested in making money than making a good game. The time and labor required to polish arc, and to make it stable is a price their company owners are unwilling to pay.
I still don't get why they decided to remaster an old game instead of focusing on ark 2.
One thing I hate is that they still haven’t fixed the annoying ass tether distance I know it can be turned off on pc but not everyone has the time and money for a pc
ASA couldn't even utilise UE 5 to its maximum potential
It doesn't look much different than that of ASE in terms of texture and lighting
Only the meshes are good as well as water but for that UE 5 takes the cake
Also subbed you for that hilarious community guideline
and this how i know you haven't played
“If you care about performance” who the fuck looks at 20-30 FPS and is like
“Yeah it’s fine” the game looks great… it’s the best power point presentation I’ve seen youtubers play. Wild card always prefers content over performance and it shows they have the exact same launch problems they did almost a decade ago. Same shit different bucket
I personally dont really care what my fps is, as long as it's atleast 30
finally a good fucking video that explains everything thank you
Movement speed removal was a must needed change to stop all the tryhards running circles around velociraptors.
I heard that only PlayStation and Xbox can cross play. Hopefully the cheating issue can be resolved on console version.😢
