1. The copper stuff it antisieze, it lubes the threads to get it tighter, and puts copper particles between the two metals to prevent them from “rust-welding” together in the event you have to remove it again. 2. You gotta have the o2 socket if you can’t get it with an open-end wrench. The new one needs to be snugged down as well, because if it leaks, the upstream sensor will read a lean condition and cause the car to adjust rich. The upstream sensor is the only one that matters in non-emissions controlled states. 3. The downstream sensor, which will be in, or after the cat, only tells you if the cat is working and does not affect vehicle performance at all.
Thank you for sharing your experience. Can you please give on update on how the sensor performing, is the engine light still no longer lighting up? Can you also give more detail on the O2 sensor..i e did you have to use original equiptment manufacturer. It was mention in other youtuber that using other than OEM might not fix the problem.
everything been great , no more issues or lights or smells. there is a difference in the sensors read the numbers on the original,, Mopar makes several different ones, the aftermarkets can match these if you get the numbers, they are also available on the emissions stickers in the firewall or sometimes door jam. but thanks for the question, all is fine. I purchased the exact replacement on Ebay, it was a lot cheaper.
@@ChrisEdwardsRestoration I changed the sensor back 1 , codes & engine lights went away but when I put my key on ignition I see a flashing engine light blinks 10 time and then stays at a solid light it goes away after cars fully started. On the scanner shows no misfires… b I never had it before it popped up after the 02 sensor was changed any help ?
I have an 03 Town&Country 3.8 started bucking while driving then the engine light went on and I smelled a bad odor from the exhaust Got a code P0303 I know it's a bunch of possibilities Do you think it's a sensor ?
The U110C is a BUS Message and usually has to do with both PCM and BCM, because its a lose of BUS Signal between the PCM and the BCM. FIRST THING TO TRY: The first thing I would try is remove the negative battery cable for 20 seconds then replace it. NEXT: Start the engine several times then let idle for 10 to 20 minutes then start it several more times and if the code doesn't return and the check engine light stays out, simple drive it for awhile like you normally would. If the code come right back, below is some common problems. COMMON CAUSES of U110C: (1) Communication with BCM is lost / See if you can communicate with the BCM. (2) PCI Bus Circuit open between PCM and BCM / Check the positive and negative bus signal at both the PCM and BCM. (3) BCM (4) PCM (5) Fuel Level Bus Message is missing Obviously, all these issues must be tested to see which one is causing the problem. BUT first try the battery cable removal and see what happens. Let me know the out come and I'll try to help further. Hope this helps and have an awesome day!

@@ChrisEdwardsRestoration not sure. But it’s throwing the o2 heater code. It’s brand new. And the van idles great in park or neutral. Put it in gear it surges and tries to stall. Give it a few rpm and it goes away. I’m stumped
Sounds like the wrong sensor. There are different models of it. A generic one is usually poo. Look at the numbers on the old one see if they match the new. Might be a different sensor. I went through two cheap ones before getting the correct egr coded one
that means either the O2 sensor went bad, Or they used the WRONG o2 sensor when replacing., the same sensor location as in this video, but on the original there is a emissions code, usually can also be found under the hood or on the door sticker, if you use the incorrect one, your check engine light will come back on almost immediately or after up to temp and toss the codes. be sure they used the correct part
@@ChrisEdwardsRestoration so i have a exhaust leak also it all kind of happended at once and out of no where my van started like sputtering in higher gear like shaking almost but if i let off the gas it stops a little and my check engine light came on and i got the p2097 code

Man, thanks so much! The cheapest shop wanted to charge me like 200 bucks.
ouch!
Thank you from Lithuania , I have Dodge grand caravan 3.8 😉
Did it just the way you said and it worked great, thanks for the video. By the way, the brown stuff is anti-seize.
Remove the air filter cover and your arm fits perfectly to remove the sensor.
Thank u on this my friends van has this same problem and wanted to know more about it Awsome I'm now going to subscribe to :)
Thank you so much. I will be doing this very soon.
…got damm A for effort, Buddy 👍🏾 I watched the whole video
Im thinking of inventing a glove with a hard metal square on the thumb so when we reach to take of clips we can push it and releae the clip.
maybe you can get Anthony Sullivan to put it on one of those TV infomercials. I could use it definitely...

Use a Mopar sensor. The after market ones won’t cause the “check engine” light to clear
i used a denso part which is the mopar replacement
I changed mine car still runs the same need help
@@ChrisEdwardsRestoration Hmmm, in the video you said it was a Bosch sensor.
I first used a bosch which was the wrong part then i got the mopar one and ifs been fine since
What type of systems where you getting when you had a faulty 02 sensor ?
2005 Dodge Grand Caravan is rough idling. I replaced all the spark plugs and wires. You reckon the 02 could be the issue?
Or the coil packs
I’m getting P 0135 and P 0134 isn’t that the same thing ? Bank 1 sensor
Pretty much either upstream or downstream one

@Xavie905 sounds like you need to scan tool, not a code reader

P303 is a misfire Cylinder #3 probably a bum wire/plug or a worn out conducted contact in the distributer cap
. all real inexpensive
Steven Randolph my car doing the same ,how to fix it.....
Hola, tengo el mismo modelo y no encuentro la válvula EGR, sabes dónde está ubicada, saludos
algunos están en la parte posterior de la admisión, algunos en el costado cerca de los cinturones
Thank you brother. Get you a go pro or a body cam.

I got a p0038 . i have a bad cat . Do you recommend to change the heater sensor or do you recommend to replace the cat?
You can try the sensor first as its cheaper
THANK YOU +10
You unloosened?? you mean tightened?? ha ha just playin, thanx for the video
ahh, you are correct, , sometimes your mouth says things not as you think while trying to narrate your work for a video.
My replacement didn't come with a spring, is this normal
Depends on manuf
Have u see any improvement on gas mileage after your replacement o2 sensor?
Not really. Still 15 if I’m lucky city and maybe 22-25 highway
Was it is very easy to put back in
extremely.
Kewl Thanx!!!!
HI CHRIS. HAVE AN 01 CARAVAN. WILL NOT START WHEN CAMSHAFT SENSOR SWITCH

run some codes on the ECU and see what it says, have you tried replacing the camshaft sensor?
Is this Ned Flanders working on his minivan? Gosh darn sensors
I have a code p2097 on my dodge grand caravan and its coming up rich bank 1 so which 02 sensor should i replace
most likely upstream, the same one i did
I have a p0135 code i have the same problem im trying to take it out i have the part and tools for it i have a 2003 dodge caravan
Everyone usually calls it PB blaster.
What was the diagnostic code that indicated this unit?
P0132 and P0135, high voltage o2 sensor and heater wire problem, or something like that
