This is a story about a Foxbody Mustang, an Aussie icon of an engine, and not one, but two Bennies. All those came together to form a powerful, consistent, and formidable team that ended up taking the "Fastest Six Cylinder" trophy at the 2019 DragWeek. But there's so much more to this story.....

1980 Toyota corona with 22r and a 5 spd. Best car ever.
2JZ in a JZA80 Supra.
Yeah on a order of 40 blocks it took over 2 months and one 20 have shown up

Meeting Ben Neal in 2018 was a blast
honestly with hindsight if the F6 Ute had of got out of customs we probably would of failed to finish (it blew a box on trip home from QLD on return trip)
I asked Ben to build us a Drag Week car to enjoy and finish the week

Al drinks all the beer
Valve springs, oil pump, Pistons and rods and 1200hp is pretty wild. Most engines including the 2jz would require more money to get up to that hp reliably.
Anything with a Barra under the hood is my favorite combo
XR6T. Such a shame, no longer made. We didn't know what we had, until was gone..

From 1979 to 1982 the Fox Body Mustangs had a 200 (3.3L) Inline Six in them as one of 4 engines you could get. So the Barra make perfect since to slide right in one of them.
So true! We kinda wish the new Stang came with a Barra too instead of the four....
@@haltech Gutted the Barra wasn't available in the UK the falcons would have sold well to tuners and there RHD.
Al's hand are magic, with Benny are combo double. Stoked watch build vlog at TSF. Ford mustang with barra from another ford, spicy...
I miss the collab of bcw, haltech, mcm, and the Turbo Yoda...
It's hard to do collabs during COVID, but don't worry, things are looking up:)

They're starting to flow in but still nowhere near as easy to get as LS, SBF etc... hopefully that'll change soon. Can't wait to see big power Barras Stateside:)

we are kinda hoping aftermarket manufacturers will soon step up and start making billet blocks etc...
It is a real numbers game, and as it was only an Aus thing and ended production, supply is only going to get smaller.

Al Butler doing Al Butler stuff, without a lemon squash. Too expensive to ship over, unless you hide them in the cylinder bores. Hope the crew come stateside again soon.
I keep trying to tell these boys, ol girl needs a Baseline Suspension 'Outlaw' rear arm kit, the adjustability would help them get more aggressive off the line. They're a nice setup to work with. Those old school lift bars work - but Baseline's adjustable setup works better!

Also you can't see it in videos but it has a wicked pearl in the paint

What really shocked me was when you said a VE SS commodore radiator was used on a 1200HP 8s drag car. Is the OEM VE SS radiator that good?

You'll be happy to know that Barras are starting to trickle into the US, so you'll be seeing plenty more of them eventually! :)

Haltech unfortunately ford has stopped making barras and falcons are steeply rising in price in Australia
I can’t believe he forgot were the car came from and who built it . Naples Florida and it would be faster with the old set up I had in it I had it in high 4s with only spraying 250 shot and built it to hold 600 shot
Now I live in the US I have the chance to buy an 85 turbo coupe thunderbird could I Berra swap this thing? I know the t bird and Foxbody are are practly the same.

I can't believe that car is still running SSM lower control arms. Not only do they bind a lot, but they also have instant center brackets that raise your instant center a whole lot. They would work much better if you lowered the car more. Try to get the lower control arm parallel with the floor at ride height.

@@BennysCustomWorks That's what I figured, that's what we could get out of them back in the day. You can go a bit quicker if you correct the geometry. You can apply a bit more wheel speed off the hit and keep the front end down while you apply more boost earlier. As an example, my 4.6 2V ran 1.13's on a 275/50 ET Street @ 3120lbs using the TeamZ stuff.

There are few places that import them now. Along with wiring and other bits and pieces.
This is what they should have done to the mustang in Tokyo drift. The billet block can get you to 2500hp can’t you.
Stock block well handle that power there a few around now

The whole COVID thing messed up everyone's plans, but Benny is pretty keen to come up again.

We are starting to see a few companies importing them now, but we can't recommend one off the top of our heads.

A low k Barra engine from FG series falcon could cost around $1000 in Australia.
