Well done this is an almost identical instance to my race car to be finished 2022. I took it a bit further cutting the entire body work from a barra fg and welding it up under a 1973 car. This allows me to select components off the shelf for fg. I am a queenslander now, but born in Adelaide and have raced willunga hill in my rally car. Keep up the good work and good luck with racing.
Love the cortinas. Seen a few back in nz. Only 20 over there then moved oz brother brought a 3.3 mark 3. Was ruff butt loved it square headlight he brought it 700 n sold it. Dam wanted to keep it but nowhere to. But yes nice car bro. Fulla n nz had a 4.1 oz mark 4/5 ghia that waz real nice 30 years back.
WARNING: EXPLICIT BARRA CONTENT It may look like a classic TC Cortina but look closer and you'll see a thoroughly modern, very capable, all-purpose race car. With a turbo Barra engine and most of the drivetrain sourced from a late XR6 turbo, Greg managed to achieve the holy grail of car building: the nostalgic looks of his first ride with a modern-day performance that allows him to successfully compete in a variety of events from hill climb to drags. And perhaps the most impressive part is - he managed to do it all in his shed with some help from friends and family! This is a DREAM build. I have a TD Wagon. Inherently, TC/D Cortinas have suspect handling / steering on a good day. I wonder if sending this Barra back into the firewall fixed the floaty steering. Double A Arms should have be decent as Ford intended but I guess the position of the old 4.1 log was never a good idea?! Better positioning on this Barra, and a wider track will also help. If I won lottery I'd send this man my wagon to work the magic.
I would love one of those bonnets and door mirrors unfortunately we can't get those items in the UK. But i do have a YB under the bonnet 😁 Great build 👍🏻
What a legend! I saw him at Geelong festival of speed. That's a very quick car. Surely listening to that accent he's from Adelaide or somewhere else in South Australia 🤣👍 Keep up the great work, mate! Hope to see you back in Geelong soon
Great video. Awesome skills and kudos to you. My Grandma had a similar era 2 door cortina which I always thought would have made a great racer. Love yours
Australia got all the sick cars! The barra sounds incredible, what a beautiful car. How can I move to Australia? 😂 those hill climbs look like a blast!
That blue Cortina in the background at around 2:55, is the number plate TD1976?! I think that was my old car! I had it for over a decade and my Dad and I built it up in his shed. Loved that car!! 💪💪💪
@@bowdenracing7046 Ok wow - it was the Ford Blueprint colour that caught my eye. I’d never seen another one in that colour - great minds think alike! Great work mate 🤙
Cool car mate , and nice effort on the Corti . i remember many years ago our next door neighbour brought home a brand new XLE Cortina , iirc the same color as yours with the 250 CI 6 and Auto , it was a nice car. I liked the TD models better than the boxy TE`s .
Stumbled upon your channel looking for Cortina builds.. Your '73 TC Barra is amazing! Great work 👍 However I'm super keen to see and hear about your '76 TD with the 4.0ltr! In 2002 I finished building my '78 TE (CORTTE) We put a '94 ED xr6 4ltr MPFI engine in it with the 5 speed manual conversion and running gear with a bunch of other mods, for the time was pretty nuts! I really miss it.. Might have to do it all over again at age 41! 😅
I know wiring can be daunting but honestly wiring in a Haltech these days isn't hard work. Haltech make things so easy and straight forward and user friendly with all their guides and videos, coupled with all the resources on the internet. If you research, take your time with one wire at a time it will all fall into place. Then you will be ready to tackle the job again and do an ever better neater install. Its def a skill worth learning :)
And the Eagle Eye Award goes to..... Thanks for spotting that - email us your postal address and your shirt size and we'll send you a Tee Shirt. . . . . . marketing@haltech.com
Greg - legend. Right down to the bare foot drivin'. Mad build mate.
I've always loved that body style
It would be nice to hear more of the engine. Even a 30 second clip with no talking would be great.
The four link suspension metal fabrication in the back is a piece of art!
Full respect
Bloody Cortina Man What a Awesome and Beautiful Barra Cortina never seen one here in NZ I love this Cortina Always Keen
I've got a 2 L manual and 41 manual here in nz

Watching the car drive I'm getting flash backs lol talking to myself I know that rd ...!!!! Doing my own little hill climbs back in the day 🤣

Love that he's flogging it on the road with no shoes on. Guess the thongs got in the way.

Fraid your looking for a different car. it is a 76 but had it the last 23 years and when I got it, it was green with a vinyl roof.

I don't like 70s Cortinas but this is a great race car.
