      Meghan Fay
I know what that’s like and sometimes they act like they don’t need your forgiveness because they claim they did nothing wrong...
But I’ve learned that forgiveness is for me. God doesn’t need the other parties involved to cooperate for Him to heal my brokenness. He just needs me to do my part of choosing to accept His gift of forgiveness to extend to those who’ve hurt me and then He will do the rest. If those involved choose to genuinely repent and make things right later on (as I pray they will), then praise the Lord! God is a God of relationships and restoration but God {who IS LOVE} doesn’t force anyone...
I’ve also learned that forgiveness is a process because the enemy wants us to be bitter and live in the past because he has that problem and he has no peace so he seeks to steal our peace... Satan does this by constantly bringing “the truth” of bad memories and choices made to steal our peace and joy. An important way to fight this arrow or dart is to keep surrendering these poisonous memories to God and each time I do that, the pain decreases until at last it’s gone! [shield of faith]
Then the only reason I bring up the past is to share a valuable lesson or encourage someone going through a similar struggle so they’ll be strengthened to hang on a little longer!
P.S. “Forgiveness doesn’t always mean or require complete trust again. Sometimes you need healthy boundaries and consequences in place.”

I’m so thankful for all those times my parents made me tell them exactly 1) what friend’s party I was going to 2) what their address was and 3) if their parents would be there. My dad always insisted on picking me up (if not also on dropping me off), I wasn’t allowed to stay the night, and getting plastered was not acceptable in my house (even though I still did it and then had to try to sober up quick before getting picked up). So so thankful that they were “mean” “annoying” and “intrusive” while I lived with them because I was too young to know better and needed my parents to make the judgment calls that kept me safe.

This made me tear up a bit because my parents do that all the time. I couple days ago my friend invited me to hang out with her and a bunch of my other friends. She lived in a area that my parents don’t like that much. My mom was on the verge of letting me go and was trying to convince my dad but he told me no. He wanted to meet my friends first and what not. I told him he can meet them when he drops me off, but he said with time, not right there and then. I thought that was unfair, considering that we use to live in that area and my friends are genuinely good. My parents and even my older brother are strict like this. Of course I know they have good intentions, but this comment made me realize even more because this is exactly what they do.

It’s letting go and releasing toxic energy that’s been burdening you. This lovely young lady described it perfectly when she described the amount of weight lifted from her. Forgiveness is about taking back your power. When you hold unforgiveness in your heart, you’re allowing those people who wronged you to still hold power over you. With forgiveness, you are set free. I don't think people understand the TRUE power of forgiveness..as I wipe away the tears from your heart wrenching story, I remember the pain, the drugs, the depression and the abuse I endured..I remember the pain of only asking God for one single thing, every single night..I asked God, if you love me, if you're merciful, let me die..through everything I could request, I only asked for that..I was too hurt to live another day..the days went on, and again and again and again I should have died..over and over and over..I was deliberately in situations so I *could* die..but I didn't..7yrs ago (on September 3rd) will be a very special day for me..that is the day my life changed forever..I cried out words I've never said in my entire life..I yelled out to God, bawling and snotty, "if You give me the peace that surpasses all understanding, I will live for You!" The next few moments I can't really describe..everything left me..pain I had carried for over 30yrs, was completely gone..I studied Behavioral Psychology in college..everything I knew made no sense in this situation..something changed in me, exactly like a switch being flipped..that started my journey..I immediately pushed everything aside (and I do mean everything) and started studying Theology specializing in Biblical Eschatology..this journey is comparative to nothing I've ever seen or heard..God showed me how to forgive, and I mean forgive everybody..and the second I really worked it out in my heart with my eyes as big as saucers, filled with tears, something else happened..I *literally* felt like 500lbs lifted off of me..the EXACT same thing she experienced..as much as I had been through, beaten and bloodied and left for dead, betrayed by everyone I cherished and loved, all of a sudden, it didn't matter anymore..the hate and anger and resentment, I was letting go..I had tried every drastic measure you could think of to unload this pain for decades..had done what professional after professional had told me to do, unsuccessful..but me ACTUALLY forgiving every single person, who had done and said despicable things to me, was what finally actually freed me..God gave me peace, and from that peace I let it all go..all of it..I'm fully aware that *they* will STILL be held accountable before God, but now I won't..the hate I carried for them, that made me murder them over and over in my heart, is gone..I had to forgive myself too, which was almost even harder..I wouldn't be alive now, if these events didn't happen..and while things will most certainly still pop up, I'm ready for them..I'm ready to deal with them head on..you will never understand the power of forgiveness unless you get really serious about it..people, love yourself enough to forgive..you have no idea what your life is missing until you do 💜💜💜 God bless

You are so brave and strong. I have been struggling for nearly a year after a traumatic experience. I am having a hard time forgiving two women who were in positions of power over me for two months. The psychological scars they left have really affected my life. I experience PTSD and intrusive memories from that time. Thank you for sharing this. It gives me hope that one day I will have inner peace. I know that my trauma doesn't define me, my strength does. It is truly amazing to hear about your journey, you have come out of something horrible as someone so wise, courageous and powerful. Keep sharing your story.

Unfortunately they broke up and are now divorced… he’s a genuinely a good guy… I was so sad when I found out they split. 😞
