Man you need a local tour guide😊 There are countless spots/tips for many Chinese cities. Nearby Shanghai I would recommend zhouzhuang or wuzhen. Search on Google and you will see what I meant.
You went to the wrong place, China’s best old town is Xitang, take the train for one stop to Jiashan south station from Shanghai, and take a taxi from Jiashan to Xitang. That’s place mission impossible 3 was filmed, Tom Cruise pictures were everywhere once, but not anymore.
Suzhou & Hangzhou have been regared as the most beautiful & prosperous cities in China since ancient time. That's a saying in China that " There is Heaven up in the sky and there are Suzhou & Hangzhou cities down on the earth".
The words outside of the Suzhou station is actually plastered on countless walls throughout China, as a reminder to its citizens to follow. "The core values of socialism: Prosperity, democracy, civility, harmony, freedom, equality, justice, rule of law, patriotism, dedication to work, honesty, and friendliness"
0:51 Socialism's core values: Prosperity, democracy, civilization, and harmony are the value goals at the national level, freedom, equality, justice, and the rule of law. Patriotism, dedication, integrity, friendliness.
There’s a Chinese saying goes like “Just as there is paradise in heaven, there are Suzhou and Hangzhou on earth.” Hope you visited Hangzhou as well. Enjoy.
Fun fact: Suzhou is biggest industry city on earth, with its industry output exceed even Shanghai. But they are not gona put this info in travel guide, because it just happens this old city (at least 2500 year history) also focus on tourism industry.
The night view of the old city area in Suzhou is very beautiful. In China, it is only at night when people come out to play. When the scenery and lanterns are lit up, the buildings will be even more beautiful.
Don't point to certain buildings and say they are Eastern European or Soviet style. This is very rude and ignorant. Most buildings are new styles that incorporate Chinese traditions, such as this Suzhou Railway Station.
Agree. Apparently he has some prejudice and doesn’t know too much of Chinese traditional architecture. Suzhou Railway Station has a strong flavor of ancient Chinese architecture not Soviet Union style.
During my father's childhood, it was said that boats were a more convenient means of transportation in Suzhou. It's a pity that you didn't visit the famous Suzhou gardens in China.
highly recommend Zhangjiajie(Avatar mountains), Furong ancient town, Fenghuang ancient town and Changsha, all these places in Hunan province. Also Dali, Lijiang, Kunming, Xishuangbanna and Shangri-La, all these places in the province of Yunan which border with Southeast Asia. enjoy your trip
Suzhou looks relatively quiet, peaceful and classic, but in fact it’s one of the China’s largest manufacturing centres and the largest river based harbour in the word, it’s actually super rich and advanced 😂
Being used to Shanghai, surely Suzhou will seem ‘more Chinese’ to you. However, I can assure you that Suzhou is still one of the most industrialised and developed cities in China. If you really want to experience the real China, you should go to inland cities like Guiyang, Hefei or Nanning, or to the countryside. Suzhou is a normal western city by comparison, I can assure you of that because in the past I lived in central China and now I'm in Suzhou.
Suzhou is much bigger and rich history than you saw. You just scratched the surface by hopping couple spots in one day. 😂 It is super-hot now. The best season will be spring and fall to visit, and best time will be at night the lanterns lit up.
Suzhou is not within the scope of Shanghai. Shanghai used to be a part of Suzhou, but later the country separated Shanghai from Suzhou for development (I am a local of Suzhou)😊😊😊
😃😃😃 Very good video; however, you have toured probably less than 10% of the city historically, aesthetically, and geographically. Dany, you may consider doing some research and then visiting the city again. Really enjoy your videos and thank you for sharing with us. 👍👍👍
Suzhou is a very famous city in China and has a very strong economy. The GDP of Kunshan County under Suzhou's jurisdiction is higher than that of Ho Chi Minh City, the largest city in Vietnam.
That's my city man!!! The gate of the orient is actually the second highest in Suzhou, landscape and streetscape design was by an American firm called SWA.
I am glad to come across your video which stood out to be different from many other western RUclipsrs which displayed a budget travel in China. Your videos provide a different angle China to the audience and help the audience to get a better sense of the lifestyle of the middle and upper middle class in China. In addition it is easier to catch up with your English pronunciation than some of those from the UK and the USA as a Chinese 😂
The red sign in front of Shuzhou railway station is “Socialist Core Values”, which can be concluded as only one destination of the party and government: service the people hard and soul.
I would love you to visit FORBIDDEN CITY BEIJING, it's in the center of Beijing , As a subscriber I would love to see that it's an eye opener and haven't seen any footage from anyone there.
30 years ago when china was opening up, Hong Kong businesses went in through Shenzhen and dominated there. Singapore government wanted to move in too, and picked Suzhou as their base, set up the first industrial park with Singapore companies starting their Chinese businesses there.
You should appreciate 30 minutes journey from Suzhou to Shanghai, ten year ago I was there as a traveller the same journey by travel bus it take 3 to 4 hours. This type of travel distance consider very short in China.
Nanjing (Southern capital) is the old capital of the Republic of China (currently Taiwan) maybe visit the presidential palace there. It’s also a capital city for the Ming dynasty (late medieval period) before the third Ming Emperor moved the capital into Beijing (or Northern Capital). The city itself is 2500 yrs old. The city however was also subjected to Japanese massacres. I do recommend going to Yunnan province. Best weather for summer (milder weather) because of higher altitude.
Nanjing is a great place to visit since it’s been the capital city of so many ancient Chinese dynasties. The vibe is vey different from the ones you have enjoyed in Shanghai and Suzhou. You won’t regret to pay a visit there.
Suzhou and hangzhou are the backyard gardens for Shanghainese. once they have holidays or a get away weekend. Shanghainese go there. especially Suzhou. since it’s too close to shanghai
Hi , great video. Can I ask a question please. How strict are they there on flying a drone? Do you need to register them? Is it doable ? Thank you for your time 😊
The Suzhou train station is definitely not soviet style. It was built in quite recent time with design elements taken from the traditional architecture in this area.
Awesome videos as usual......it's like being there....the wonton soups and the barbecue lamb is exactly what I would be ordering myself, if I was there.
Just the more steps you will get to Jinji Lake when you got the other way of Dongfangzhimen., the huge building you shown in this vedio. the view there is stunning!also, the lake is famous for the music fountain at night. Next time you can just contact me😊
