I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights 2002, before the major renovation in the years after. It has changed a lot since then. One fact they never mentioned in the hotel history is that the legendary us singer John Denver once lived in this hotel for a while during his travel in China in the early 1980s. He performed in the lobby and wrote the song “Shanghai breeze “ during his stay right here in this hotel.
My friend stayed at one of the nine suites at a lower floor and invited us to visit there two years ago. That was amazing, no matter its location, view, or history background. The streets and blocks between the Peace Hotel and the Peninsula Hotel are amazing too.
It’s great you are filming at more upscale hotels and restaurants for a change because too many RUclipsrs are only filming hostels living. Nothing against that but it’s good to see something different.
I stayed at the Peace hotel in January this year. They upgraded me from a twin room to a Junior suite (1-bed room), absolutely liked it. They even called my number the day after checkout because they found my phone charging cable lost the room.
You are the most classy RUclipsr who are coming to shanghai. I like your style. In terms of Old Money luxury hotels in SH, The Peninsula and The Waldorf Astoria are even more impressive IMO for architecture and building. But they are relatively new and cannot compare to The Peace hotel about the famous ppl who have stayed there. I got married in the Peninsula . They sent out their custom green Rolls Royce to pick up my bride. These 2 hotels are also located on the Bund and I highly recommend you to visit if you like Luxury like me. Also recommend the Heavenly Jin Restaurant on the 120th floor of the J Hotel(shanghai tower), which holds the Guinness record of “the highest restaurant in the world”, I dined there once and was an unforgettable experience. Keep up the good work!

This man is certainly one of the few rich westerners who are willingly to explore China. As some have already mentioned in the comment section, the majority of RUclipsrs who have travelled China are really poor. During their visit, they couldn’t eat at decent restaurants which is quite sad. This phenomenon actually the showcase for the demographic of western travellers in regards of wealth. A simple put, rich western people don’t travel China, only the “ghetto” ones, but Danny is of course an exceptional!
Finally, a RUclipsr who can truly reflect the heritage and luxury of Shanghai, after all, Shanghai is a world metropolis, not the low-end and cheap place that other Western bloggers emphasize. We welcome more and more wealthy and tasteful travelers visiting Shanghai.

I used to work in Midtown Shanghai before I moved to the US. I must have walked past the Peace Hotel a hundred times, if not more, but I never stepped inside. However, I have been to some of the other iconic restaurants and bars along the Bund; the vibe was incredible. You should also try one of the highest restaurants in the world in Lujiazui, which is across the river and located on the 101st floor. The view is spectacular.
From $10K to $110K, that's the minimum range of profit return every week. I think it's not a bad one for me, now l have enough to pay bills and take care of my family

I went there several years ago and took photo in the lobby, I was told there are several vital meetings related to this country holding there in the history. that's why they call peace hotel. insteresting thing is when Antony Blinken stayed in the hotel, there was a China-made moden destroyer staying on the river.
most of bigger Chinese cities have at least 2000+ years of urban history. Shanghai only has about 180+ yrs of history. hence from Chinese perspective, Shanghaicis a new city. nevertheless Shanghai reached its first pinnacle rather quickly. by 1920s, Shanghai experienced its first boom time and became one of the major modern megacities in the world. back then, Shanghai was THE economic hub of Asia and a major trading port of the world. it's way ahead of Tokyo or Hong Kong at the time. many old art deco architectures in Shanghai was built during the same period of the roaring 20s era of NYC. hence many old buildings in shanghai look similar to art deco buildings in NYC.

I like PULI and hotels in PUXI and you can try RITZ in PU DONG as well. The PUXI and PU DONG are totally different vibe. And the Bound is quite different from both
There are vlogs which shows that China, including Shanghai is struggling and many shops are closing. You should go to other sections in Shanghai and see it the vlogs are true.

My favorite hotel is The Peninsula, located near the Bund, with a rooftop bar to admire the Pudong skyline also.
