I don't understand these damn things and it's not just Springfield's. I see people's comments, but they've never used these. This man could have removed the whole thing, took it back to his bench vise, but when you plan on fishing.... "Anti-seize" works amazing, but keep a rag close by it has a tendency to find itself everywhere and you won't know how it got there :-/ Well I have one myself I have to get after arrgh! UPDATE: OK, it's a few minutes later and it's out. Mine are the 3/4" EZ-Swivel and they wedge in so tight. I pulled the seat and clamped my locking-pliers (vise grips) on the post to use it as a lever. Pushed & pulled a few times and it began to spin. Success. I know this is not the same seat post is this gentleman's but this was the only video I found. I hope this helps.
After getting frustrated myself with the exact same problem and turning to RUclips, saw your video. I did mine with a bottle Jack and came out easily. Thanks for the idea. 👍
Another tip is to get some big channel locks. Put a rag around the pedestal to somewhat protect it, then try twisting the pedestal back and forth. Helped me one time.
Oh no! It looks like you ran into a rare problem that can occur with plug-in pedestals of any brand. Sorry you experienced so much frustration! If you want to prevent this problem from happening in the future, we recommend that you stow the pedestal when not in use. This is especially important during seasonal changes or when towing your boat. The reason the plug-in posts can jam up when they aren't regularly stowed is because the tolerance on the posts must meet a certain criteria to ensure safety and eliminate any wobbles. With that said, seasonal elements and stagnant moisture can cause expansion, which leads to unwanted jams. Another tip is to make sure the base is clean and clear of any debris prior to installation. We hope these tips help!
Its such a rare problem 4 of the 6 on one of my boats is stuck and all 3 on a boat I sold. Take them out 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 They're stuck when I put them back in, before I get a chance to sit on them. You know, if I can put the seats in and they're stuck before I even sit in them, they are shit!
Next time work smarter, not harder. Unscrew the base from the floor and remove entire assembly - seat/post/base. Then tap the base off with a mallet instead of fighting with it...works every time. Youre welcome.
This way took less then 5 minutes, and it was accomplished with the tools I had at the boat ramp. It as more of a video on what to do in a similar situation. If I was at my shop I could of done it the way you suggested. The rear base actually was warped on the inside. This has happened to a few other customers boats as well.
@@canuckoutdoors8452 except for the pole was clearly bent and ruined. There’s no way in hell this took you 5 minutes because the video is 5 minutes and begins with you saying “tried the jack and tried bashing it out” 😂😂
Having this problem or really side affect for having non-wobbly seat pedestals, I solved it by installing split rings with a 60mm ID onto the seat pedestal about 1/2” above the base plate. Once installed, using a small pry bar or even screwdriver, the seat assembly lifts right out by prying upward on the split collar with one hand and gently pulling near the top of the pedestal back toward the pry bar side to balance pry forces. Easy peazy.
This happens to my pedestal seats all the time. I get sick of having to remove them completely from the floor just to get the pole out! It’s absolutely ridiculous. This actually stared happening to me a year after buying my bass tracker band new! I even took the poles out and sanded on them some where they insert in to the floor. It helped some. Might have to try sanding them down a little more.

You didn't see it move slightly upwards as you were using the scissor jack? I saw it clearly move in your video, so you were making progress and eventually it would be free.
I have the same problem with mine. My front seat is stuck and it’s in my way when I try to use a cast net or fly rod. I may try this with the bottle jack that came with my Tacoma if it goes up high enough.
I have the luck that the jack would have broken the bottom of the seat. Then I would have been angry at myself for not waiting until I got home to work on it.
I'm get ready to do this myself... Who is gonna take their seats out and put them up for the winter , On a sixteen foot bass boat ....we use covers and tarps ha
You use a flathead screwdriver and pry the button in. Then you hit it With the hammer handle a few times around it and then she pops out. Don't bash a company because you don't lube your seats man.
Seats are lubed regularly. Only the rear hole sticks, it was deformed from factory. I work at a large volume marine dealership and we change multiple bases per year from this brand.
People like this amaze my of how smart I am. Take the floor bracket off and put it in a vise, and figure out what wrong with it. Probably just needs lube. Had to use heat on my bracket it slid right off.
Yeah, remove the floor bracket? Brilliant, now you climb your fat ass in the hull and hold the nut on the underside with a wrench while I drink a few beers and take the bolts out topside. You so smart.
Yeah I do lube them. For some reason the rear base was warped. This was the first time I tried using it. The seat still works great in all the other holes. We have replaced a few of the bases where I work already.
So, I drilled a hole through my post and use an electric winch in my shed to remove it. And for the wankers (Springfield), we don’t have an off season in Australia. Mate, you’re right, it’s Chinese junk 🤬👹
When mine got stuck I just brought along the biggest, strongest fishing buddy and told him the beer cooler was under the seat.

I got a brand new trackboats v16 today, and all of three seat posts got stuck.
Rare??? Still some wankers around eh?
This was a great solution. I’ve applied silicon to avoid this but it never works. Thanks for the video!
I tried silicone too. And… here I am at this video. So annoying
I have put light grease on mine but still stuck

Use drill with jack crank to raise and lower jack

Blake Dennis I lube the shit out of mine and they still stick
What button?
@@trevorwillis967 Some similar bases have button to release a plastic safety pin. It keeps the seats from flying out.

Next time use a dub of motorkote. No, not an engine oil! Motorkote, and seat will come off much easier
Dude…just unscrew the base 😂
Springfields don’t unscrew they have a release button.
