- Thanks to the newest ENDGAME exploit, we use the Rocky5 Xbox Softmodding Tool to softmod my recently fixed Original Xbox with just a USB flash drive and a controller port adapter - no special game disc needed!

Thanks! This worked for me! In my experience, I did not have to delete my saves after the first attempt (red ring “freeze”). I just restarted the Xbox and went straight back to the memory unit, and then the soft modding tool opened!

I have an OG Xbox from about 04, I've had since I was 14, I just want to semi refurbish it without destroying or tearing anything. Any tips can help thanks.

no way why was this not a thing at end of life of the console this would saved so much time & madness trying to jump thru hoops with a game method
Right?! I almost went down the game method and then this popped up a mere 20 years after the console's life lol
Worked great the first time transferring files over the network... tried right after and now all i get is
*failed to parse returned path**
*failed to retrieve directory listing*
Hmm that's odd - might just need to reconnect/refresh your FTP program. Worst case the good 'ol IT solution of turn everything off/on again should help it along 😁 Could also be a disk space issue as most Xboxes only have about 5 gigs of storage - planning to upgrade mine soon
@CoulterPeterson so the issue was is I changed the dashboard to the OG style, forgot the name, but it's the one that looks like the default xbox dashboard. If it's set to that you won't be able to connect to it. Has the be the Xbox unleash or whatever the softmod dashboard is called
@@lovelorn88nick oh interesting that's good to know - thanks for the update! I wonder if there's an "FTP" mode in the more OG-looking dashboard, or if temporarily switching over to the "blue dashboard" is standard practice 🤔
what hard drive will work to upgrade the original Xbox?
Technically any PATA hard drive will work, but there are the extra steps of prepping it with the drive signature files we backed up in the video - I'll have to cover that in a video soon :)
Can i use a 505 MB USB IT SAYS ITS 512 but when u plug it in its 505!?
The Xbox will tell you if it's cool with the flash drive pretty fast (the pulsing screen or error message meaning no) so worth a try :)

That's the plan! Just need to get my hands on a decent PATA drive or a SATA to PATA converter
