Love the short format!!!! I bought 2 chargers in the last 2 years based on your reviews and love them. I like keeping up with what is out there and new but dread watching 45+ minute reviews on something I’m not gonna buy. Getting the basics with an option to watch the full review is awesome!!!
Thank You Everybody for All that you are doing for our Planet Earth.... Peace.. Shalom.. Salam.. Namaste
Great idea to do a short version. I love your patient explanations of everything in the long ones, but lots of us don't need the same things explained again.
In the comments on the first one I asked EVIQO about thr torque spec for hardwiring, important and not stated in the manual. They eventually got back to me saying it's 185 pounds per square inch. That's not a unit of torque, so presumably they meant 185 in-lbs. But that's a very large number for what looks like a #2 Philips screw, so that's probably wrong too. So for now, I wouldn't recommend this for hardwiring. And I'm not getting a strong feeling of confidence in the company overall, but maybe they will figure it out.
Love your reviews we just bought our first EV and looking at what home charger to get. Hoping there will be a best chargers of 2024 video soon.
Working on it now!
this is the one i just bought because your review thanks
Quick-charge condensed version is a good idea.
Off topic, you should do a demo of Tesla’s dynamic power management with their wall connector. No one is talking about it, and it deserves a video for how well it works and the money it saves in service upgrades. FYI the required power meter and communication harness are available on eBay for 20% off Amazon’s current price.
More fond of the loonger version reviews. A lot to pack into 10 min and be able to absorb it. Love the reviews, though I must admit you have reviewed so darn many I have no clue which one to buy, even more confused now than prior to watching your reviews. Like your comment about Autel I believe it was having to many options....I feel the same with your channel
Did I miss the part where you talked about how it doesn't come with the hardware "whip"/connection cable ? Or how they don't include torque down requirements with their hardware instructions?
Or did you just choose not to talk about that ?
I like the long version. It is fun to watch.
I would like to know if it is safe to use an J1772 extension cable? Maybe you could do a video on those style extension cables.Lectron has one I was thinking about purchasing.
Question: Is there an inline 240V - 50A, meter that I can purchase and install for my EV car charger to monitor total power output? (2024 Cadillac Lyriq - plugged into a 50 amp NEMA receptacle)
Always like, but what is your outstanding unit?
Patiently waiting for the comparison of the 3 Tesla to CCS adapters. 🤔🙂
I'm waiting for the "real" Tesla adapter. The one I got from ford is a pre-production unit. tesla wasn't finished with it and wanted to make some improvements but needed to send some to Ford for the launch date. I don't think it's fair to review the one I have because it's not the final version.
Some of us are going to buy either the A2Z or Lectron now only because we don't want to wait for the official GM version. I have a 2023 Chevy Bolt EUV Premier and I would like to be up and running when GM is finally allowed. I will likely also get the GM version when available. After all no harm having a spare. Bottom line, only the A2Z or Lectron will actually be available to most of us for quite a while.
Could you do a quick review on the Aimiler 48A wifi unit? I just ordered 1 on Canadian Amazon for $399 that’s about $295us for a unit that can be set from 16A to 48A in 1 amp increments with a timer setting and 25 foot cable. I like the idea about the adjustment capabilities because I have a 70amp sub in my garage but I heat it to 10c all winter so I can’t use all 48a in the winter but in the summer I could crank it up.
Can this be used as portable charger that you can carry around? Other than inconvenience of bulky unit, would there be any issue carrying it out for a frequent use?
still waiting for you test if unit has plug sensor temp. i will not touch any adapter without this feature. the Tesla has it and personally twice it protected the plug from overheating.
Regarding the Volvo EX30, because it is assembled in China, will there be an issue getting one in the US because of the 100% tariffs.
I'm curious - what are your biggest reasons for giving it a 4.2/5 (effectively an 84%) for your personal opinion? To be honest, from what I've seen it looks solid and did well in your tests. I personally would prefer a longer warranty, but it's not bad. I would prefer it was built in the USA too, but unfortunately that's few and far between nowadays for EV chargers. And the cold weather cable flexibility is challenging with a 48A charger due to thick cables.
Check out the longer version.... The abbreviated data in the shorter versions, does not show the full extent of the evaluation process....
Just my two cents, on it... think what you want....
It is very solid and 4.2/5 is a great score. first off, it's a new company without a track record so I don't know how well these will hold up over time. I've seen a LOT of new companies fail and after 2-3 years they are out of business and customers have now tech support or warranty claim options. I also would like to see the app usability improve, I wold like to see a NACS option and I'm really not OK with just a 24-month warranty. The industry standard is 3 years for good-quality units.
Ahh good point about the company's age. If it goes under, that obviously presents a lot of issues. I think all of them will be moving towards NACS. That only makes sense. I'm sure they'll have that soon. And yeah 24-month isn't ideal. 3 years is good. Some have 5 which is ideal. Hopefully they extend it further as time goes by to show confidence in their unit. @@StateOfChargeWithTomMoloughney
We need chargers that Air B&B's can install, and charge you when you use it.
@@StateOfChargeWithTomMoloughneyI want to eventually replace out gas powered minivan we vacation with, with an electric one. We usually get places with AIR B&B or Vrbo, and I want to find chargers, which the owner can charge me for using. This looks like it could work.
Regarding the app use of any smart charger, do the chargers allow charging without using their app?
Yes, they all do
Do you plan to review the Tesla Powerwall Gen 3 ?
I would like to. But it's a pretty big investment. We'll see
Tom, Is it compatible with a Rivian? Have you tried it on your R1S?
All J-1772 handles are compatible with any modern EV, even Tesla comes standard with an adapter to use the plug.
Yes, it charges my R1S fine. It will charge any EV - even Teslas with the J1772 to NACS adapter.
Ohh! The Reader's Digest version!
Tom you seem to be getting a lot of pushback about objectivity in the short version.... So it may need some tweaking? Good luck with that...
Reviews by definition are subjective. Even if you have numerical criteria there is a still a level of subjectiveness.
You can never please everyone. I do take comments into consideration, but in the end, I have to review them the way I think best represents my experience and opinion on them.
Subjectivity in a scientific test is called an "error", which is about 99.9% of what matters in this type of review IMHO.... But that 1/10 of 1% is still interesting to include in the review...
Add a chargehanger for cable tidyness.
Deja vu
Your rating system is flawed. It should not require two scores that need to be averaged out. You obviously don't put your full backing behind the Chargerator score which you should. Maybe revamp it so that you can back it fully.
Yup, doesn't seem objective as it stands right now.
No, your criticism is short-sighted and flawed. By not being able to comprehend the additional value of the star ratings.
Which proves, 'those who can't do, troll those that can'. Good luck getting lives trolles.
Have you ever seen a review where the narrative section was glowing but the numerics were less than stellar, or a review where the narrative is seemingly scathing but the numeric score was decent to well?
This addresses that. I have no problem with it.
@@nc3826 Wow, sad response to a genuine criticism I have seen on your channel more than a few times by more than just a couple people. Matter of fact, i just saw another comment on this specific video expressing dissatisfaction in the same vein. Might want to take a hint. Trolls don't bring up valid criticisms and then take the time to defend them.
Common sense is common sense and two rating systems that need to be averaged out just to validate your opinion is thoroughly unobjective and unprofessional. Judging from your response though I guess that is not your goal.
@@Necrotron Easy to remedy, score it appropriately the first time and explain why. No room for error or miscommunication.
