    I had accepted that this will not arrive before I sell my ChaDeMo car as the next one is most likely going to have a CCS port. That said I actually like ChaDeMo better, from my experience it has less handshake issues and I’ve used the fast chargers hundreds of times over the past years. Two things worry me, though: 1) in winter the thick charging cable is very stiff and puts a lot of stress on the charging port as is, this adapter is really long and not flexible, which makes the mechanical advantage of the cable pulling sideways on the charge port even more of an issue. This is an even bigger problem for cars that don’t have the port on the front, but in the rear side instead as the cable is sometimes barely able to reach and is under tension even without the long adapter. And 2) a lot of the chargers I use every day have really short handshake time, once authorised You have to either already be plugged in or need to plug the cable in within x seconds (this is a problem with chargers that have the connectos locked to the station and the lock only disengages when You authorise charging). The need to plug the cable in to an adapter, press start and then connect it to the car doubles the handshake procedure time.

So we can charge all our cars. As we have an older leaf 30kWh which now has a range of 63 miles on a full charge. This adapter would be a game changer but not at over £1000 pounds. Was it a genuine Kia cable?? My Soul is over 7 years old, and the T2-T1 adapter cable has been faultless.
      I DO now have a brand new cable, as it wasnt AC charging and the garage were desperate to try every remedy before admitting it was the OBC and replacing it under warranty (£1750 part)
      A new Kia cable is £179; I know that as they tried to charge me for it, before admitting it was an OBC failure.
      Although the price was £1500 when the 1st (non functioning) CCS adapters went out, when I checked yesterday; there were sellers touting from the mid £600 range; with a single unit for mid £700s; although VAT on top.........
      Hopefully, the price will fall further now there is a working version and other Chinese firms copy it.

    Hi @DalasEVRepair. For a lot of people I think a conversion is still a better option. Sure, not for average cunsumers like mom and pop. But for tinkers/DIYs like you and me, I think conversion is the better option. Is this something you have planned to feature any content around on your channel (in respect of your business). Thanks.

    Not a big issue for me with my 2014 Berlingo(22.5KWh battery) yet since the networks still install some Chademo connectors even at new charging locations here in Norway, but yeah, going to take a long, hard look at it when the wallet allows.

    I hope we get user experience if it really works with all the chademo cars and not just first gen leaf. This would really help to make those cars way more usefull in long run. Chademo cars and not high on demand in aftermarkets, but with this they could get more interested buyers.

    Hilariously the other way around would also be a welcome relief to CCS owners who are in areas where all the CCS chargers are taken and CHaDeMo adoption is quite low despite the huge amount of CHaDeMo chargers available... Is anyone working on that?

    • @The18107j
      @The18107j 8 месяцев назад

      Yes, CHAdeMO to CCS adapters have existed for many years.
      The reason this one is an achievement is that a CHAdeMO to CCS adapter (what you're requesting) can be powered from either side before starting a charging session, and the locking mechanism is on the car and station, not the adapter.
      A CCS to CHAdeMO adapter (like the one in the video) needs to supply power to both the car and the station before the charging session starts, requiring a fairly powerful internal battery, and it needs the locking mechanism for both the car and station to be in the adapter.
      Where have you seen this many CHAdeMO stations? Most stations being installed in my country (Australia) have been CCS only, with some being a mix of CCS and CHAdeMO. I've never seen a CHAdeMO only station.

    Thanks for the great news! Would be interested in how this fairs long term as it does look quite long and hence I wonder about the strain on the Chademo socket in the car. Also the price at around £1000 plus tax's for me in UK is really pricey. Hopefully they can get it down to about £500 including tax's and I will get one. Also wonder if as others pointed out it might end up getting blacklisted as I am sure the energy suppliers wont like us connecting a third party adapter on there hardware. Still cant figure out why Nissan did not make and release one of these, maybe for legal reasons?

    I literally stayed clapping when I heard your LEAF start charging. This changes everything! But what about CCS1 for us here in the United States?! And if not: would a CCS1 to CCS2 work with this adapter so that I can buy it and convert it to work with my US LEAF? I am totally ok with a janky adapter with USB cables hanging off I'm totally fine with it as long as it works. What about Tesla Supercharger CCS to a CCS1 to CCS2 to CHAdeMO would that work? What a fun idea to imagine a LEAF successfully charging on a CCS Tesla SuperCharger.

Perfect would also be an adapter Type 2 AC 22KW to CHADEMO DC...

    Interesting video. This adapter is probably what many CHAdeMO drivers have been waiting for. Regarding the design, I could have preferred that the adapter itself was divided into 2 parts with a short cable in between. CCS cables are typically both heavy and stiff and I think that the charging port itself in the car is exposed to extra stress in the current design.

    • @DalasEVRepair
      @DalasEVRepair  8 месяцев назад +4

  • @linusa2996
    @linusa2996 8 месяцев назад +2

    Before you buy this, just remember in North America, all of the charging companies have stated that they will not accept any adapter that were not made by or certified by the car's manufacturer and that any damage to their system will be the borne by the user. So if you brake the charger, you are on the hook for the repair, the legal fees, the penalties and a lifetime ban from their entire network.

    • @alsavage1
      @alsavage1 8 месяцев назад

      That requirement by the charger operators is mostly for legal cover in case of damage, not to prevent users from using their networks. I expect some operators will require "registering" the adapter (the CCS protocol does have fingerprint capability) but I doubt that outright banning of adapters will be widespread.

    • @linusa2996
      @linusa2996 8 месяцев назад +1

      @@alsavage1 You can keep saying that but Electrify America and others have already stated, only Automobile Manufacturer OEM or Certified adapters will be allowed, no if's ands or but's, NONE.
