Just my humble opinion, but you are one of the few "film youtubers" that actually takes amazing photos in addition to the video content.
If it wasn't for the ahitty attitude 😂. He's incredible though
So completely true and @rodneychitate - if you’re not picking up on his comedic brilliance, you must be from the Bay Area. It’s not a shitty attitude - it’s his schtick
@@ziggy149 Injecting stupid lame jokes at the end of every sentence gets old real quick. I really want to dig this guy's RUclips content, but his "schtick" as you call it, is sophomoric at best. Otherwise, his photography is good and so is some of the 8mm footage he's posted recently.
@@AdamCorreia Not everyone is going to understand or appreciate his comedy. It’s definitely not mainstream and I think that’s the point, but also he’s trying to come off not so serious about something he’s very serious about.
@@ziggy149 I don't disagree with you one bit. Maybe tone it down just a bit? Because, for real, I dig this guy's work, especially his last video "Glacier" but I often find rolling my eyes at the humour.
Baxter cameo at 0:19 , 4:00 and 7:50
Your welcome
John Smith that’s what we all come for 😂😂
You are my hero
But it’s an Ektachrome video, and it’s not Christmas
I'm just as confused as you are
we all have lost our concept of time
I need that filter on my glasses. Makes the whole world look nicer
After shooting for a while with this filter you actually gain this ability with your eyesight
Try life.
@@HamburgerMILF I find it overrated
@@timmyd999 Which one? Life or the filter?
just let your glasses get dirty and don't clean em ;)
Probably the most sanitary film loading I have ever seen in my life.
Oh and I would love too see a “what’s in my camera bag” video I’m sure I’m not the only one.
Hear hear!
The answer is “Baxter”
Probably his cameras and film idk.
Geez. Why are all amateurs interested in this sh*t? He's not the type for "what' in my [blahblah]..."

Also, a black light is just a fancier name for longer wavelength UVA light, around 400nm. Looking at kodak e100’s data sheet, magenta forming layer is not sensitive to anything below about 475nm. That means only yellow forming layer is being exposed when you shoot a black light. We all know that in developing yellow creates its opposite color, which is blue, and thats why it looks blue. Unlike film, digital cameras use Bayer filter on top of pixels, that means every 4 pixels, usually RGGB, have around the same sensitivity to light. violet is about R:G:B=1:0:2, for film red is created by Cyan forming layer, which is completely not exposed, but for digital cameras red subpixel can be exposed, and that renders black lights the color they should look like.
These photos are so clean 😭
Blast us with cyan graindaddy 😩
Jason holding onto the shutter release at 4:29 and 7:34 like he's trying to inject life into the film. Do we all need to look like evil scientists in order to get such clinical shots
It can't think of anything more enjoyable than inspecting every detail on the developed medium format Ektachrome.
Great shots man! I've always liked the results I've gotten with Ektachrome at night, even more than day shots sometimes. That Pepsi vending machine photo was my favourite 👌🏼
I love that shot of the pepsi machine and wow ya'll still got a Kmart!?!
This was a lot of fun to watch, Jason. I appreciate you making it and for Ektrachrome blasting us with Cyan.
I’m a simple man. I see another grainydays video, I like without watching first.
I'm really impressed with the range in the relatively shadowy reflected light!
Always feel inspired after watching your videos. Get a good laugh too, can’t ask for much more.
This was the first video of yours I watched. Much nostalgia
I have just loaded some 4x5 Ektachrome (my first) so this is perfect timing! Thanks for this. :D
So clean. Such good images.
Yusssssssssss Ektachrome at night👌👌🔥❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ I’ve been waiting so long for someone to do a video on this and I’m so happy you’re doing it
Love the photos! Great work!
you're videos are the highlights of my week < 3
The Blue Room Pic is my favorite. Looks awesome.
This is fantastic. The "this is not a good idea shot" turned out wonderful! I love shooting chrome in long exposure. If you want to keep doing it, I have to say that Fuji Velvia 50 is pretty damn impressive. It has a bit more reciprocity failure "protection" so to speak, and can handle long exposures with ease.
love how these came out
yo the background music in this video is really dope! i love it!
what an interesting video. I would have never have considered using such a film stock like Ektachrome in low light situations
I truly enjoy your videos and your photography!
I'm loving these shots! Good work fellow scholars
grainydays, grainlessnights.
Great shots!
super nice images, class as always.
Yay daddy posted again! I mean uhhhhhhhhhh hey look at that another grainy days video.....
great video as always jason
these shots are clean af, never heard of that filter either it made the shots so dreamy
Thank you for making this video. I was having a down day and your video cheered me up.
Totally satisfied with the unexpected underground vibe of this episode!
Amazing long exposures!
such warm photos, reinspired me to get back into 35mm
Damn these images are sharp! Stay healthy and safe, champ
Great prostate exam video! Thats last slow zoom frame of the video was nice.
It's funny watching the 60hz strobe of the led streetlights in camera.
Jason is embracing the vigilante outfit, still waiting on the shrek
Great atmosphere, nice images.
Thats really great, the colors..
Great video and great photos!
Love the mist filter..
Damn, those are amazing. Love it
closing shot was dope!
Bangers after bangers. Damn !
Those shots came out great! Makes me want to get some Ektachrome myself, but it's really expensive!
I have noticed that Ektachrome always favors the blue end of the color spectrum, so I'm going to try correcting in-camera with a yellow no. 2 or orange filter (probably futile at night though considering everything goes blue anyway).
I knew it was you guys that I saw when I drove by.
That Pepsi and tire shops just are 🔥🔥
Nice! With Blue Thunder Cameo 😎
What if you wanted to go to heaven but Jason said: _"Caleb prostate exam 😳"_
that photo at 5.24 ugh just so good UGH
Secret Ninja film photography vibes on this one. Makes it look like they doing something illegal even though they just shooting bangers lmao
hey the Blue Room! they have some pretty cool bands that played there when the world was normal. Since your near Burbank...have you ever thought of shooting the Pink Motel? Got some cool neon lights and they use it for movies sometimes. Its on San Fernando
gonna have to look into it!
1:13 I need this as a hologram projected on my tombstone
we can arrange that
I've also taken night shots of the Glen Capri. Such a great sign/look. Good video, my dude!
Were the T & E letters burnt out when you did?
@@grainydaysss Nope, they were all lit.
@@ChristopherVisser luckyyyyyyy
Your channel is awesome. Which tripod do you use with mamiya in this video? Thanks and keep it up!
So Awesome
Really cool results.
Jason in front of a plain grey wall is my new favorite Jason
"This is not a good idea" - but let to my favorite shot, so yeah, it wasn't a good idea, it was the best idea.
Hahaha, going against the grain on our town. Great shooting..Great video!
Those are the best photos you've ever taken. Take that how you want. Great vid. Extra credit for moody synth score...
The coldtime. was absolutely its always sunny tier.
Really nice shots.
Cool video and photos man! I have some rolls of this film in my fridge and have been wondering how to use them. Night shots must look great on the light table despite the colour shifts. What is that Tiffen filter you were using?
Cheers! It's the Tiffen Black Promist 1/4
grainydays thanks. I never new theses existed but now I do I could totally use one of these.
grainydays ok, what was the filter on the second night?
I feel like I'm watching a lame version of Drive. But also I love these videos.
I appreciate the references
You should do a video comparing shots with and without a Tiffanie BPM filter. I’d love to see that. I wanna buy one but I’m poor :)
Were these scanned by the lab? I can never get my E100 looking that good in home scans.
what app do you use for light metering?
If you haven't already figured it out, it looks like Light Meter by WBPhoto.
Ektachrome is great for night exposures
That tip on black lights will help with my career as an aspiring Crime Scene Pornographer
Sharp as hell.
Finally, more Baxter footage.
Beautiful shots!! In lieu of a sweet mamiya7 and actual film I'm gonna try to dial in an Ektachrome recipe on my Fuji... Sacrilege I know, but it's what I got.
Awesome! My favorite is the Shell station at 6:31.
Nice shots of the motel sign!
Always looking forward to your new videos! not really a big fan of ekta tho, that stock just doesnt impress me even though i like the shots that you made. Does anyone know what tripod theyre using?
just a couple of surgeons hanging out after hours... sniping bangers 🔥🔥🔥
I think I like the look of that film at night better than during the day.
Nice images 👌
Cool video and some lovely shots! What tripod are you using? I've got this little manfrotto travel tripod but it doesn't really extend tall enough and isnt that stable for long exposures
I actually tried the new CS6 Dynamic dev and got some incredible results in Provia. But I also wildly missed exposure (I think) on a number of shots when I was shooting Provia and E100. So I can't say yet how Dynamic holds up for E100, though I suspect fairly well.
Interestingly, a lot of the slides that didn't come out were at night for me. Ektar and T-Max 100 were slam dunks but E100 and Provia were not. So either I didn't develop correctly and/or I missed exposure. I've been having a lot of issues getting consistent results from slide in general, and I think it's because I'm not paying attention to where the lightlights should fall such that for lower contrast scenes, my results are dense. I think it's because I need to make sure my highlights reach up to say +3 (or maybe +4 with E100?) when I meter.
Anyways curious how to handled that since the images look fantastic!
Thanks for the video. Loved the photos! WHat app are you using to meter? Are you just metering straight with the phone?
cool vid bro thx, what light meter app are you using/recommend ? thanks :)
5.25 is an awesome shot. Palm shadow on the wall makes it. Have you done a 35mm night shoot yet? Did you expose for the shadows?
I'm curious if the video footage has been colour graded? It's a lot of grey with pops of colour, looks nice
I hardcore simp over Jason's videos
the pictures are sooo good! what tripod are you using?
what the eff is your backpack? Been watching so many of your videos trying to catch a glimpse of the logo 😋
I would love to know how did you measured those scenes for Ektachrome.
Something super nostalgic about that kmart parking lot joint
Another film photographer: can’t miss to shoot another gas stations at night 😆
Were you using Light meter app by WBPhoto? I just started playing with that recently. How have you found its exposure recommendations? In my very limited use with it thus far it seems to give readings that were higher (in shutter speed) than a through the lens meter on one of my cameras. Thoughts?
fuck this is the best thing you have ever done well done mate
