Love the use of banjo on this. Few people know this but Banjos were actually invented by African slaves in the Southern US and were based off of a Tuareg/Senegalese west African instrument called the Akonting.
I agree with you 100%. I started learning djembe drum during first covid pandemic and when I first heard Tinariwen, I felt like I found something I didnt know I'd been searching for. A deep feeling inside myself. I'm going to see them in July and am very excited!

I've listened to hours and hours of this music, learned all I can from my Amazigh Moroccan friend everytime I visit, written rhetoric papers on the lyrics, and told as many people about the music that will listen. When you get to Nashville, I'll be the one screaming the loudest.
There are no Touareg people in morocco. Only Gnawa and they are not the same people Gnawa have slave heritage while Touareg are the free people of the desert.

What a beautiful band that joins The Touareg people from Mali, Niger and Algeria. People mistake Touareg for being related to the Gnawa from morocco even moroccans themselves make that mistake. Gnawa come from Slaves imported from Nigeria and western Africa while Touaregs are the Free people of the great Sahara.
I listened to Iman Aman repeatedly during several sessions in a hyperbaric oxygen chamber. Helped tremendously. Also saw them in Chicago several years ago (City Winery?). Awesome, awesome show. Really blessed to see it. BTW, world music fans might like Rosetta West - Yallah 13

What a beautiful band that joins The Touareg people from Mali, Niger and Algeria. People mistake Touareg for being related to the Gnawa from morocco even moroccans themselves make that mistake. Gnawa come from Slaves imported from Nigeria and western Africa while Touaregs are the Free people of the great Sahara.
I listened to Iman Aman repeatedly during several sessions in a hyperbaric oxygen chamber. Helped tremendously. Also saw them in Chicago several years ago (City Winery?). Awesome, awesome show. Really blessed to see it. BTW, world music fans might like Rosetta West - Yallah 13
