Showerdoc Quick Guide: How to replace a 416.53 and 416.48 Mira latching switch: bit.ly/1AxaQ5a

Hi @showerdoctor - great video but sadly for me, my Mira Azora has developed a latching switch fault (pressing the switch causes it to trip the RCD but only intermittently...this is 4 years after installation) and I can no longer find the part anywhere as it's been discontinued. Unless I'm mistaken I have no option but to scrap what was a £350 shower which is just over 4 years old. I'm hoping someone will comment here to suggest where I can source a 416.48 switch but I'm not holding my breath.

Hi, the latching switch (416.48) for my shower is now discontinued and marked as out of stock...does that mean I need to scrap my 4 year old shower? (Mira Azora)

    Hi,
My shower isn't turning off, do you think it's because of the latching switch being faulty?

    Thanks for great videoes.
It looks like on the mira sport max 2005 onwards that the solanoid is difficult to access. It looks like I have to disconnect the flow valve from the mains inlet and the hot water tank to get the solanoid out is this correct please.

Hi, thanks for your great service and videos. Could you give me any hints on replacing the solenoid (if you have a video even better!)? Do I need to take out the whole valve assembly to get to it?
I just ordered one from your site (great resource!) as ours is blown. Hopefully going to fit it on Friday. We're just through in Glasgow, so not far for it to fly.
    Thanks!

How did you get on 5 years ago, did you have to turn the water off when you changed it?

Hi, George has answered your question during our live stream yesterday. Here's the link to the recording: ruclips.net/video/hP3yCSpynOc/видео.htmlm32s. And here is the link to our video on solenoids that George mentioned in his answer: ruclips.net/video/NzJjzWqxesc/видео.html We hope this helps you.

Hi. I just replaced the TCO in a Mira elite st power shower and it has just blown again. is this just bad luck or is there an underlining problem I'm not aware of. Thanks Tom

I think you may have a faulty micro switch, keeping one of the elements energised all the time, you may have been aware that when you switch the shower off there was a noise like a kettle coming to the boil in any case you will have to trace the faulty switch.
There is sometimes (but not always ) evidence of overheating round the switch

Hi, thanks for the vid, why would some people need to replace the latching switch, my mira shower randomly turns off for no reason after two mins (power is still on etc.) would that switch be the cause? Edit: replaced it still seems to have an issue would it now be the solenoid valve/Coil?

It may be your solenoid valve, you can check it if you have a multi meter, you should have a reading of at least k3.5 ohms, across the two terminals any less and you need a new valve. (Check the valve in the failed state.) (When it has stopped working!)
If there is power getting to the solenoid and it is not operating then there is a good chance that you have a faulty solenoid.

The video is intended as a guide and does not cover every shower.
If you don’t have a multimeter we sell them with a guide on how to use them for checking and testing the various parts of your shower.
Apart from helping to fix your shower, they are really useful for checking you have a power supply to appliances, for checking fuses and letting you know much power you have left in batteries
(So you will know if they are good or not) and lots of other jobs, in short they are well worth a few pounds
      www.showerdoc.com/installation/electrical-products/SKYTRO-600-005-Digital-Multi-Tester
On your shower the solenoid is part of the flow valve assembly therefore it is best to replace the complete flow valve.
