- I can’t believe I’ve written that title. I also can’t believe how much I underestimated all the work to be done on sloe patrol to class her as finished.
This quite long video shows all the last bits.
Thanks for watching

I suggest you save yourself time and effort- take the pram / rain cover off completely ! Buyer can fit their own 😮
Lol! Exactly what I thought x
Agree. The skirt is fine to.
He can’t the engine bay will flood when it rains without the tarp over the back end
I know what you mean but the reality of the alternative is far far worse. Aesthetically of course it’s not the best by a long way….but it works and works well. If a buyer wants to remove and improve then they can - but it’s better with than without
It's been quite a while ,but it was worth it . I Remember when you realized sloe patrol needed a complete new hull .Well done James and thank you.
Or did he know all along ?
Yeah they were dark days
I still remember that quite literal sinking feeling when that hole happened. I remember John at the wharf consoling me but it was horrid
Glad we’re through that
I have watched every single vlog since you first started and followed your journey. Sloe Patrol is looking so good and whoever buys her should, if they haven’t already done so, watch them too so they can see all the work that you have done to get to where you are now. Looking forward to continuing to see the progress of your new floating home. Keep up the good work
Thanks so much - I’m sure whoever buys her will watch some of the vids before they get bored and just want to enjoy the boat for what she is !!!
The narrowboat that James finished! What a journey!
In just 4 years too 😂😂😂
@@TheNarrowboatThatJamesBuilt Impressive considering you were living on board WHILE working on her (which is SO hard), taking care of kids, commuting to a job....I know it must be a LITTLE bit of a wrench, letting her go...best of luck with the sale!
Hi James. I've been missing Sloe Patrol on your videos, good to see her again and looking so outstandingly smart and integrated inside and out. Cheers. Paul.
Cheers Paul - the next couple vids are about sloe then that’s probably going to be it. She’ll be missed
You make the multitool look so easy. I actually bought one, and found it to be quite the steep learning curve. Wanting Sloe Patrol to look as good as possible is very relatable: it's important to feel good about it when the time comes to complete the sale and it looks like you're well on the way to achieving that.
To be honest, it helps having a slightly blunter blade - gives a bit more control on the mains powers ones.
I wanted it finished not just to feel good about it - which I do - but also to genuinely sell it to someone knowing there’s nothing to do
I remember watching your very first video. It seems a little while ago.
Just look at her, and you, now.
Wow I know
Thanks for being here and there with me
Well done, mate. Got there in the end.
I expect you'll be sad to see her go.
Have a great Father's day.
All the best.
I will be sad but depends on who gets her I guess.
Finishing touches make all the difference! Look even better when you’ve cleaned stuff down. Sad times though James. It’s been a great journey with old sloe. Will miss her .
Yeah I know sad times in part but if the boat can really help someone else live the life the can, then that will do me just fine
Finishing the details makes a great difference in her appearance. I'm feeling a bit sentimental about having watched Sloe Patrol take shepe from her beginnings. As others have said: Well done!
Thanks - from watching from the outset, yeah I get that
The finishing touches are making the boat look really lovely, Great work
Thanks so much - very kind
I got myself the air fryer mini oven, same as yours, and so far so good. So ta for recommending it James.
It’s great isn’t it!! Thanks
Love this boat!
Thanks - that’s a lovely comment to read
It's good to see you back, you have achieved so much in the time you have been away. I have watched the build from the start, what a transformation from those early beginnings. you have had so many setbacks but you have overcome them all, you have been a real inspiration to me. It will be sad to see her go. Now looking forward to see the next chapter with project 58. (sorry I don't remember the boats name). Good luck for the future.
Cerium (Nr. 58 in the Periodic Table)
Thanks Geoff
I’m glad the boat has brought you joy over the years and it does seem a while ago now from those early days. At least the having no clue and awful carpentry still remain 😂
I value and appreciate you watching and being part of it
Well done James! x
Thanks - very kind of you to say
Looking great mate well done 👍👍👌👌
Cheers pal
Great job James.
Thanks so much
I can’t believe you left us with a cliffhanger 😂🤣😆
Oh did I ???? Sorry about that 😂
After watching the end of your video again, I realized I must have made a mistake about the cliffhanger. 🤣 I apologize
Big jobs done🎉
Indeedio
Good job as always James 👍
Cheers Martin
I feel you brother, I've been getting my mum's house ready for sale and I'm way behind. Every job is taking way longer than my brain allowed for. Hope you get a quick sale for the old girl.
Well done on the work James. Hope you get a quick sale wish you and the family well hope carol isa doing has well has possible all the best the oldies 👍🤗
Hi Anne
Carol is OK thanks - spoke to her a week or so ago. She’s got massive housing issues at the moment so my heart goes out to her. Thanks xx
Good jon James. Happy summer.
Cheers you too
looking good james, but i think you need lights on the top step, stands out not lit.
Yeah I totally agree - I’ll try to find some lights
Nice work on the lights. I think they dazzled me cos I’m sure you said you was going to clean 😂
I know - I’m sorry for that bombshell of cleaning - but she does need a good clean from gunnels down
I love your sayings like I’m well happy with that! I’ve not heard it here in Australia. Well James I just think you have done a magnificent job on Sloe Patrol.
I’m well happy with that comment. Top draw. Thanks
Nice one James 👍 looks great so going forward do the other boat better 👍 like you are doing remember do it right the first time 😊
I’m trying to do that all the time
Well done and thank you for taking us along. I have enjoyed how you make it work. Thank you.
Eventually 😂😂
Thanks for your lovely comment
good vid look good nice work keep up the good vid and cranking it
Top man
What a remarkable achievement Sloe Patrol is, James. Well done! Leigh
I bought the Tower Brand 10 in one - and bought the chip basket - which works on the rotissere spindle - brilliant
Thank you Leigh for everything ❤️
You have done so much work James, Sloe is looking amazing! Well done 👏🏻 Hope you and the kids are all good 🥰
Thanks so much
How to polish a turd.......Chuck lights at it...😀
Like the way the warm colurs transition through to the blues at back. "word on the cut is..."
Thanks
Congrats! She looks fabulous! x
Thank you very much -
She looks beautiful, James. Fair winds and sunny days, Sloe!
Fair winds is about right - moved the boats yesterday and it was so gusty - 2 boats tethered together is a rather strong sail
Hope you’re well
BTW I used that hose yesterday too and thought of you. That hose still works absolutely perfect toy whilst Rob is on his 3rd 😂
@@TheNarrowboatThatJamesBuilt -- that makes me happy James!
She's looking so fine, great work, I've enjoyed Sloe Patrol's transformation under your diligent, and sometimes difficult stewardship. ;-)
Now onto the bigger job. ;-D
Absolutely. The bigger job indeed.
I’ve enjoyed and appreciated your input over my stewardship of sloe patrol
Cracking vid, thanks for the update
Thanks very kind
It’s looking good James. Could you give us a final tour of the boat when it’s all cleaned. Would love to have one last look. All the best.
You will certainly be getting that…..and maybe a bit more……
@@TheNarrowboatThatJamesBuilt interesting 🤔 😀 will wait and see
I’ve always liked the way you’re not fazed by a new task. ‘X’ needs doing, then I’ll learn ‘how to’ and do it. I hope who ever buys Sloe Patrol enjoys many a happy time living on/cruising on her
With all your experience from Sloe Patrol I hope you do the finish better on your new boat.
Yes that’s the plan
Sloe Patrol looks lovely, hope you get a quick sale at a good price for her.
Thanks so much - here’s hoping
You need light on the top stairs too, it is a bit dark
I agree, maybe extend the under gunnel lights?
Yeah I know - I’ll try to dig out some more lights from somewhere
The one concern I have about the steps being finished like that is the engine is air cooled, and needs proper airflow. Perhaps you could cut some sort of slots in the vertical bits on the stairs to allow proper air movement especially on the top riser.
There is still a very large hole for airflow but I’ll keep my feel out for any change to cooling
Aw, amazing 👏🏻 Well done James
Thanks guys
Hope you’re all very well
Finishing touches made a big difference nice work James.
Thank you - she’s feels very complete and finished onboard which I love - just wish I’d done it a year ago
You might consider getting a sewing machine for future projects. It's pretty easy!
I’m hoping not to see that quantity ever again !!
@@TheNarrowboatThatJamesBuilt You have another bout to do. Lol!
When is she up for sale? Nice finishing touches, even if still rough around edges, she's alovely boat. 💚
She’ll be going for sale asap. Thanks
The devil's in the detail. Looking spot on. Good luck with the sale!
Thanks Johnny
I hope life is treating you well
Good work James. hope the sale goes well and then you can move on to the next chapter. Take care. xx
Let’s hope so
Loads needed finishing ….. really would never have guessed, sad to see her go onwards and upwards James.
I’ve seen a couple of extra bits too which have been done but it’s now defo done.
Onwards indeed
👍👌❤️🇨🇦
At the end of the day its still a springer done up on a budget but good luck with the sale
You’re right and she’s 50!!
Let’s see
You won’t want to sell it once done :)
I’m there already!!
Surely, when the bigger gas bottles start getting empty, the pressure will drop on them anyway.
That’s what I thought but it seems to power the boiler right to the end of the bottle. I’m just happy they Both work
She'll be a lovely home for someone & will sell pretty quick, so many boats are put up for sale in a shocking state or with everything just painted white, badly. What will you be asking?
I wanted it to get to the point where someone can move onboard and just live. Not a thing to do. I think I’ve got there
I’m aiming to sell for around 35
James have you seen iron on tape varying width available at local haberdashery store, it's all looking grand
I tried it before and it didn’t take as the inside has a waxy feel
I can't believe the title !!!
Are you going to have to change the name of your channel now
I know - my phone asked me if that title was correct 😂😂😂
Nah the channel will remain
Hi, I am only 5min in so you may mention it further on but anyway, do you intend keeping and living on Sloe Patrol or selling her?
Ignore that, just heard 😂😂
💜💙💚
Thanks as always x
Great video as usual!. Not sure if you only had two light strips spare?. Or did you not fit a light on top step because it doesn’t overhang?. If it’s because there’s no overhang you could unscrew the top 4 deck boards and slide over just enough to fit a light strip under?. If the gap at the back of the deck is then noticeable could stick a strip of something to cover across the back like a skirting board.. no criticism just an idea from another set of eyes!
I ran out of lights that’s the reason. You’re right in the approach - it would work fine to shimmy them forward an inch - if I can find some lights hanging about I’ll do it
Where is Sloe Patrol being advertised for sale?
She’s not yet
You can contact me at narrowboatjamesbuilt @ gmail.com
The rain/pram cover needs to be skipped. Sorry James but it all looks very shabby. Keep the frame as it looks just about right to be recovered by the new owners. ☹️☹️☹️. But the rest of the boat looks fab 👍👍👍
Totally agree about the pram hood, always thought it looked rubbish, don’t forget James, whoever buys this has access to all your videos showing all the make do and mends
I know what you mean - it is shabby but it does really work and without it with the dreadful summer we’re having - the new owners will spend most of their days with the bilge pump on
That looks right tiddly.
Brilliant effort James 😎Smashed it 😀👌👍⭐️
Thanks my friend - very kind of you to say
