Beautiful too see how my city has grown as a Native born and raise in this beautiful city it always fill my heart of joy to see how many people love this city b/c It reminds me of my childhood when Austin was barely blowing up. Breaks my heart that Austin sadly became too expensive for a lot of us natives💔, but glad that at least it’s getting the recognition it always deserved 512 till I die❤️🤘🏼 Y que vive Mexico 🇲🇽
It's a different place. Grew up in Austin in the 80's and genuinely miss what It used to be. It's so bizarre visiting nowadays being disoriented with all the growth, and seeing barrios that have been scooped up by the wealthy. I suppose that's the way things are, nothing is static and everything changes! Tacos and BBQ are still on point, but there are about a 999,999 better places than Juan in a million.
Your making me miss my time in Austin, wish you would have got some video of 5pm traffic and the cost of housing and I would feel better about leaving. LOL
You have to get outside of Austin. Salt Lick was mentioned. You also need to have Round Rock Donuts. And Texas BBQ is really smoked and brisket is the best.
Rudy’s is great because of the consistency, availability, and price. Just so nice to walk in and get good BBQ, not great. Round rock donuts is a mandatory! I can’t believe y’all missed that.
Looks like a great time. I’m going to be in Austin next week with my brother so this is perfect timing. Definitely looking at la Barbecue now as somewhere to stop. It looked delicious!
Wow! The food looked amazing! We are hoping visiting Austin in the late spring, we will put these on the list! Great video! Ughh sorry about the drone! ~Cara 🙃
Just north of the UT football stadium on Red River is the Austin staple "The Posse East"...home of the best greasy cheeseburger in Austin....Seriously.
Bro don’t be blowing up local spots like that my guy. There’s sooo many places that have been been ruined by tourists and out of towner’s leave our local dive bars out of this 😂😂😂
Yay, it’s “Hot Nashville Chicken” guy! Him eating that chicken sandwich was the funniest thing ever! I remember Chris saying “Are you going to pass out”. He looked like he was about to. lol Poor guy! Food looks delicious! You guys definitely made up for having to eat a burger on Thanksgiving! Enjoy!
As an Austinite for 10 years IMO virtually any BBQ place here is really good ( I don’t like standing in line very long). Every town/city has its unique vibe/character.
As someone who lives in Austin but has traveled a ton I always say the same thing. Texas BBQ is the only thing bad about Texas. It's just not as good as any other specialty BBQ in the country. I'd rather go a state up or over and Austin's BBQ is the worst. They're best barbecue is just good not even great. Austin has some KICK BUTT ethnic food though. Also some awesome bakeries! Korean BBQ is good in Austin also! Lin Asian bar is GREAT dim sum. Dong nai has the best pho in town taste of Ethiopia II is a VERY well priced and delicious experience! Ramen tatusya (I probably misspelled that) is THE best ramen I have EVER had! Uchi is expensive but a great experience for the money. Avoid pluckers in Oakhill my wife and I got sick there recently. Anyways the good places I've been to are usually ethnic there's also a good swedish bakery down the road from Lin Asian bar. There's some incredible other bakeries in Austin but those are for you to find and me to know haha!
It's so weird to hear this as a Tejano that's grown up with so much BBQ growing up that I hated it for a while. My dad is a bbq competitor. Lol It's so delicious though.
Great start, love me some breakfast Taco's 😋 Definitely gonna spend some days there in the new year eating tons of BBQ. Friends of ours just moved there from Brooklyn and love it. I've got to try this music provider you use. Always perfect. Stay safe friends:) James and Kim❤
You should get a t-shirt and where it back home and people will just see st. Elmo and ask where it is before they see the Austin, Texas lol. For those that don't know there is a st. elmo back here in Chattanooga, TN.
Lol Burger fi? That’s not even a local restaurant it’s a national chain. The best burger spot from a local, born and raised since 91’ trust me you want Dirtys, el Camino on 6th, sure throw in hopdoddys for good measure, Phil’s is good but not the best it’s like on par with the Chilis on 45th , Jew Boy Burgers slaps.
You guys did not get a thorough enough Austin experience. Less eating, more drinking! You should've done-breakfast tacos->coffee->greenbelt hike->BBQ->Dirty Sixth Pub Crawl->late night diner/food truck like HomeSlice Pizza->down Coconut Water to ease the hangover. THAT is how you Austin lol
Hey Allison! Thanks so much for checking on us. We’re safe and so are our families thankfully. ❤️ we were spared any strong storms this round but a lot of the people near chris’ family in western Kentucky weren’t.
Y'all's buddy did y'all dirty with the breakfast tacos. There are a ton of substantially better options. That place only got popular because you could get a lot of food for cheap.
Having been in Austin since 1977, if you try BBQ at La Barbecue definitely have to have to have the brisket or beef rib. The pork ribs there are good also. Black's BBQ is great also and so is Stiles Switch. About 15 other great BBQ places also. Franklins is phenomenal but the line starts about 8:00 a.m. every morning, so it's a challenge. LOTS of unique coffee shops and breweries. Good Mexican food at Curra's Grill on Oltorf. Good live music at The Saxon Pub. And don't fall in the trap of going to 6th St. Lots of punks and not good now. Go to W. 6th, Rainey St., 2nd St. District, South Congress, or The Domain. Hope this helps.
Places like Juan in a Million ARE good but I see this one listed in just about every Austin travel guide 😂 All the other locals are probably gonna disagree with me but you CANNOT beat Phil's Icehouse for a burger, Enchiladas Y Mas OR Matt's El Rancho for Tex Mex and margaritas, and Tumble22 for some chicken. A visit to Adelbert's brewery is always quite refreshing - get the Tripel B if you aren't sure - and if you are lucky you can catch (or request) a quick weekend tour. I also recommend checking out Central Market for some delish travel snacks or cook out food AND be sure to pick up some Ruta Maya coffee while you are there. (Chameleon cold brew if it's summertime, it will knock your socks off.)
lol, Enchiladas y Mas and Matt's...que disparate. Those places are for suburban (white) people who don't know what texmex is. They're barely better than El Patio.
I've never stopped in Austin TX. About 15 or so years ago that highway that goes by Austin where you can take the highway up or down was all under construction. I was driving a Chevy Silverado diesel dullie and pulling a Holiday Rambler Presidential 5th wheel through that area. Concrete abutment on both sides, one lane traffic. My knuckles are still prolly much whiter than they were before that drive. I think my hands had to be surgically removed from gripping the steering wheel. Ha ha ha. Last few times, we took the toll road. Ahhhh. 😁❤😁
shit tacos for the area, go to guadlajara in levelland texas. not a ton in the area, but best mexican food in the state, one in a million looks like what we cook on sunday mornings
OK, Juan in a Million is the 'safe' white kids joint on the East Side. (But still not as insufferable as Torchy's.) If you want proper diner/divey texmex food, try Los Comales, Joe's Bakery, La Casita, Arandas, Los Hornitos, La Mexicana, or Beto's. I'll take a lager or IPA over a sour ANY day. Color me basic, too. Good to see you didn't do Franklin's. That place is pitifully overrated. Not BAD, but not worth a 2hr wait. An Austin CLASSIC is Sam's BBQ on E. 12th.
Sam's is great BBQ. Juan in a Million is delicious and very Tex Mex. Also Juan is very involved with the local community, mentors kids, helps school thrive. He is a local hero.
Beautiful too see how my city has grown as a Native born and raise in this beautiful city it always fill my heart of joy to see how many people love this city

You have to get outside of Austin. Salt Lick was mentioned. You also need to have Round Rock Donuts. And Texas BBQ is really smoked and brisket is the best.
Rudy's BBQ extra moist is the best I have found. (Coming from a local 60 yrs born and raised)
ohh thanks for the recommendations!!

There are dozens of options: Valentina's, Stubbs, Rudy's, Leonardi's, Salt Lick, and Sam's are my personal favs.
