- Before we lived in Seattle, Austin was our home for many, many years. It's such an amazing city and we love the vibe and culture, the greenery, and the FOOD. We recently spent one full and jam packed day in Austin checking out food trucks, getting on the water, walking around town, and sharing some of our favorite things to do in the city. Hi y'all! We’re Adam and Kathryn, an adventurous married couple living in a Sprinter van! You can often find us scoping out the best coffee shops, eating tacos, climbing mountains, cuddling our fur child Kona, and dreaming about Hawaii.

Wish I had found this earlier when I did a work assignment in Austin! Love watching your videos and daydreaming about the trips I will take one day 👍 also if you haven't tried Tyson's tacos yet that was a favorite of mine. Their "dirty horchata" drink (coffee with horchata iced) is delicious!

Funny story, I watched your other vlog about Austin before this one and when Adam talked about Valentina's, I thought he said Valentino's and I couldn't figure out why the pizza chain was his favorite! So glad that wasn't the case. : )

Bull Creek Park, West Cave Preserve and the Pennybacker Bridge overlook are not too far from Mt Bonnell. The County Line on 2222 for lunch and The Oasis for a beautiful sunset view dinner in the evening.

I love kayaking there. I caught the biggest fish ever with CJ once.

i go to atx a couple times a month for work from FL and Valentinas is always a must do. it's my first meal when i'm in atx. you nailed it on the head about their bbq. even if they didn't even do tex mex or mex, their BBQ itself is still top notch.

@@AdventuresofAplusK thank you. I also have a question. Is it good to rent a car out there? Not sure how parking is in Austin. Or is Uber better?...I'll be heading to Houston too but wasn't sure if I'd do bus or rent a car for the week.
You could get by using Uber, but it might be just as much or more than renting a car. It depends on what you're planning to do and where you're staying. If you're staying downtown and don't plan on leaving the area much then you could just do Uber. But if you plan to go to other areas then you'll want to rent a car. Same with Houston. Houston is massive so renting a car will probably be the best thing there. Renting a car is probably cheaper in Houston vs Austin as well.

Hi! Kayaks are $15 (single) or $20 (double) an hour, or $35 (single) or $45 (double) for all day and no reservations are needed!

@@AdventuresofAplusK it's my favorite place in the whole world when I lived there I was homeless it was during hurricane Katrina I went there to volunteer at the arch in Austin I hitched hike from Florida and I fell in love with the place and the history and the people I used to carry around a orange jack-o-lantern for a purse and people used to call me the pumpkin lady 🎃🤘😁

Austin is a great city to be vegetarian! Most places will have vegetarian options, but here’s a list of a mix of spots that I know can accommodate (or are 100% vegetarian)!
The Vegan Nom, Torchy’s, Taco Deli, Papalote, Veracruz, Counter Culture, Bouldin Creek Cafe, Koriente, Arlo’s, and Via 313.

Hi! We haven’t lived in Florida so we can’t speak to that, but we have visited. They definitely have a different vibe. Austin seems a lot more chill to us vs. the Miami area, but Miami is definitely beautiful! Both have good going out scenes from what I’ve seen, but Miami definitely seems like more clubs where as Austin is more of a laid back going out vibe. The food in both is great and Austin has tons of food trucks and cuisines. I would think Austin is more affordable too. Personally for us, we would live in Austin because it’s less busy feeling and more laid back and casual, but if you want a more hoppin’ life with the beach, Palm Beach may be better. Not sure if that helps!

Just caught onto your channel via one of your big island vlogs and we are hooked. We are a fellow travel couple too that likes to do a bit of vlogging as a hobby (check out our channel!), but we love watching travel couples on RUclips in our down time and we've been bingeing yours hard since first discovering you guys! We love how you love food, how you guys are open to trying new foods/things and being adventurous, the hiking, and we love your dialogue and how fun you guys are. You remind us of ourselves and how we like to travel, seriously! Also love the funny bits at the end! I was cracking up at Adam jizzing over the taco place at the beginning, and then cracking up at the end when Kathryn said Adam fell in love with the owner and went to have a chat! We looooved living in Seattle! It's a much better fit for our outdoor lifestyle, but we do love Austin too (it's technically "home" again), especially the food.

How do you guys like the Houston area compared to Austin. As both a place to visit and live?
We are personally big Austin fans, as it has tons of outdoor activities nearby, a smaller town feel, and tons of food trucks (Houston has those too, but Austin is full of them). Adam is definitely a proud Houstonian, but Austin fits our lifestyle better and it’s not as hot and humid as Houston. Houston is fun too though, especially if you like museums! We haven’t lived in Houston together, but we have visited a lot, so we can’t fully speak to how it is to live there.
Adventures of A plus K Austin sounds like a great place and seems to have a lot of beauty as well with all of the lakes and hills. I’m considering a relocation to TX or AZ but I’ve never actually been to ATX yet. Your video was great and helped give me more of a feel for what the area is like. Thanks!

Where do you like better? Seattle or Austin as far as quality of living?
We personally loved living up in Seattle more-it just fits our lifestyle better. We love to hike and be outside, the scenery is insanely gorgeous, and we also loved to road trip to all of the awesome spots so close by (Oregon, Canada, the beach, etc). But Austin is a great city and we love the food in Texas! Thankfully since our families are here, we get to enjoy Austin often 😄
Where would be a good area to get a hotel for a day like this
Downtown or South Congress would be a good choice! You’d be able to walk to many stops!

I ate at Valentina’s with a group and no one liked it. Idk if it was a bad day to go. It had no flavor. Especially compared to a lot of other places in Texas or just in Austin.
