    Just installed this on my 2011 Ram. I thankfully had both plugs already. Unfortunately, Dodge stopped selling the bezel. It’s a discontinued part and I can’t seem to find a replacement.
    Thanks for the video. Made install easy.

    I know I'm late to the party, butttttt, you didn't need to buy that second harness. If you go to 1:56 in the video and pause it, you'll see that wire is already present in the background. The tip is orange and the red, white and blue wires are connected to it. That plugs into the other hole.

  • @paulie375

    Hey guys. I went crazy for a little bit trying to find the wiring for the plug everybody needs. You can't really tell from the video. I used a junk plug from an aftermarket heated seat setup that plugged in without any issues. The wiring is as follows. If you're looking at the controller (4 wire connector on right, missing plug on left), the lower left pin is the red wire, the pin directly above is the blue & white & the upper right is the green & white. I hope this helps. Good luck!

    Used this video to remove my brake controller so I could replace the parking brake release lever on my 2012 2500. Everything followed along as you showed it - except there are THREE screws holding the brake controller in! The third one is towards the rear of the controller, in line with the one you point out, easily accessible with the side panel off.

    All the wiring harnesses are the same, both plugs for the controller are always on the trucks. This guy clearly didn’t see the other plug taped right beside the one he found.

      @@TonyTheTruckGuy sorry bud but you’re wrong. Bc mine has both plugs. Also call a dealership and try order that wire harness. There’s only one option. They only build one harness with all the options. They just don’t plug stuff in if the truck doesn’t have the option.
      Go look again. The big plug is taped to the left and small plug is taped to the right.

      @@BC_I_LETU SOME come with the plug, MANY did not. Hence the reason for these plugs being made and me needing to install it. I’ve been wrenching professionally for 15 years, and I’m a huge Mopar fan. I ASSURE you, mine and many others did/do not have this plug. I’m not blind. I literally have spent HOURS of my life doing wiring and sifting through dashes. More than likely, your truck has EVIC cluster controls on the steering wheel. Mine did not. Hey there,
    I was able to find the 4 pin on eBay, however my truck doesn't have the larger four pin plug. I see where it supposed to plug it in I just don't have the actual wire harness. Can you tell me where I can find that piece? Is that a Mopar piece? or do I have to make it?

  • @TonyTheTruckGuy
    @TonyTheTruckGuy  11 лет назад

    as long as you have BOTH plugs hooked up and wired in correctly, the brake controller should work manually (when you slide the lever over) and if you are hooked up to a trailer with properly working electric brakes, it should work just by hitting the brake pedal, but i've been told if you have an EVIC you can have it programmed at the dealer for more info like trailer trip mileage, etc.

  • @TonyTheTruckGuy
    @TonyTheTruckGuy  11 лет назад

    hmm, with the truck off and key off it stays on? there's a wire crossed somewhere, it's getting power to a wire that it shouldn't be, recheck the wiring for the small plug that taps into the ignition to verify wire colors then recheck for the big plug too, did you ever find the 4 wires for the bigger one?

    Question. Hopefully one of you can help. I have a 12 express and I ordered the itbm. They sent me OEM pigtails. Can someone tell me what the wires connect to on the smaller plug like what cavity goes to can hi/low and which one goes to B+.

    • @TonyTheTruckGuy

      They didn't install the wires into the plug for you already? That's annoying. Unfortunately I don't remember which cavity is for which wire and my video doesn't have a good angle, I would maybe google the plug part number I listed and see if there's any images showing what color is in what cavity and you can figure it out from there using my video.

    OK so i Checked the wiring 5 times to make sure it is correct. And it is, But i am getting nothing out of the controller.. how important is the 4 pin connector that you used. I found another one that fits just fine. As long as the connection is made it should not matter what connecter it is....????

    • @TonyTheTruckGuy
      @TonyTheTruckGuy  10 лет назад

      So you only have 1 plug? You MUST have both. I guess any plug that stays plugged in will work as long as the pins make good contact and they are in the proper orientation and going to the correct wires as shown.

  • @ethancrowe7119

    My 2012 ram 1500 only has the one plug. From what i can tell you only need the second plug if you want the display on the dash for the controller, which my truck does not have. Will the controller still work if i only plug the one pigtail into it? I'm missing the one that you splice into the ICM.

    • @TonyTheTruckGuy
      @TonyTheTruckGuy  5 лет назад

      I can’t say for certain since I used both plugs on mine and I ended up selling the truck so I can’t check for you lol. The controller SHOULD still work without the harness to the display, you just won’t have saved trailer parameters or any info on the dash.

  • @dptp9lf

    Further to my post to Tony, my factory controller works fine but when i try to change from light trailer to heavy trailer int he EVIC it just won't change? I can scroll up and down etc. but i can't get the check mark on any setting other than light brake. The steering wheel buttons work for everything else so not the buttons. I've tried engine running, engine off, parking brake set bla bla bla and can't figure it out. Don't really want to go to a dealer if i can help it.

    • @TonyTheTruckGuy
      @TonyTheTruckGuy  2 года назад +1

      Yeah that’s weird. I assume you tried this several times. Did you try restarting the truck? I can’t think of a reason it wouldn’t let you switch if the buttons are working fine. That sounds more like a software issue and you may need an update or reflash.

    The dealership is telling me that if I hard wire it in. it will bring in a constant check engine light? did you have this issue when you installed yours? I also noticed at the end of your video the controller was not installed??? Why is that? did you have issues? I cant find the harness but thinking about using insulated slide terminals. do you think this would work? Any help would be appreciated, thanks!!

    • @TonyTheTruckGuy

      Ashley Grundman In the end mine wasn't installed because I was actually taking it all out and selling it separately to make more money because I was selling the truck. Anyways when I DID have it in, it worked fine and no check engine lights of any sort. As far as hard wiring the harness in, I'd steer clear of "scotch locks" or "T-taps", it's not a professional method and it's just jenk because the wires don't get much contact. I'd solder it or use butt connectors.

  • @TonyTheTruckGuy
    @TonyTheTruckGuy  11 лет назад

    No, without my truck to look at I don't have anything else to really go off of unless i'm there, headlights shouldn't be tied into the controller so maybe figure out with wire has power with the headlights on then see if power goes away with lights off, then disconnect that wire and find the proper wire to run it to. Worst case scenario you may have to put it back to stock and have the dealer do the wiring, i'm sure they have schematics and such, maybe check a dodge forum for wiring pics?

      @@TonyTheTruckGuy just tried it and the brake control doesn’t work at all without it. Even if I have the controller on 0 They will still lock it up briefly. They seemingly function fine at highway speeds of course, but I’ve looked at all the wires and connectors all exposed wires in wire harnesses. I have the 2012 1500 express, I checked on this one, it said it does not work with my truck.

      @@jeffwitkowski6423 Mine was also an express and they list the same part number that I originally listed in the video description, so I’m not sure why it wouldn’t work. Maybe try to contact the seller and ask just to verify.

    Thanks for your response to Ashley, I asked her to type something up for me because I could not find the part but finally I got it. Try ebay part#271821904700. Got the part, took it down to the dealer and got it installed with no issues.
    Thanks again!!

      +David Wehman nothing came up. Thanks though. Do you happen to know what those three wires control?

    • @davidwehman2673
      @davidwehman2673 8 лет назад

      +Joshua Collins, the number I posted above is a phone number. The 3 wires are the power source. 1 is hot at all times, 1 is hot when keyed and the third is ground.
