  • BBQ Country Style Ribs
    Ingredients
    4 lbs - Country Style Ribs
    1 large onion, diced
    3-4 cloves garlic, minced or pressed (or coordinating amount from jar)
    RUB
    2 tablespoons smoked paprika
    2 tablespoons brown sugar
    1.5 tablespoons chili powder
    1 teaspoon kosher salt
    SAUCE
    1/2 teaspoon black pepper
    1/2 cups ketchup
    1 cup BBQ Sauce
    3 tablespoons brown sugar
    3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
    3 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
    1 teaspoon dry mustard
    3/4 teaspoons kosher salt
    1 tablespoon vegetable or olive oil
    Instructions
    Line a large baking sheet with foil and lay ribs on it
    Combine all rub ingredients and massage into both sides of meat using your hands. Set aside.
    In a mixing bowl, whisk together ketchup, BBQ sauce, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, apple cider vinegar, mustard powder and salt. Heat pressure cooker to saute function and add oil and onion. Saute for 3-4 minutes, until soft. Add garlic and cook for another 30 seconds, stirring often. Add the BBQ mixture and stir to combine. Add a few ribs at a time and use tongs to gently coat them in sauce.
    Secure lid on pressure cooker and set to high pressure for 40 minutes cook time.
    When finished, let naturally release pressure for 15 minutes. Manually release any remaining pressure and then open pot. Place ribs on platter and coat with sauce (see below).
    SAUCE
    Once ribs are removed, turn pressure cooker back to saute mode and let sauce boil for 10 minutes. It should thicken up and make a nice sauce for ribs.

    Don't know how I lived without this for so long! I make dog food for 2 of our dogs ruclips.net/user/postUgkxG-7WiT7ocumjytOpHDFt632PL0pxXRAg (we have 5!) and it is so much quicker in this. Love having the inner pot stainless so I can use my immersion blender right in it without worrying about scratching. It makes potatoes great and fast! Still working on the vegetables, first time came out great, second time I did different ones and they were a little too mushy. Just need to adjust the time. I highly recommend this pot!!!

    These were delicious!!! I followed your recipe exactly as you wrote it, but added about a 1/2 cup of water just to be on the safe side. Thanks for sharing!

    Oh my, I made this tonight, with a few adjustments since I didn't have all the ingredients. However, I followed her cooking times and most of her ingredients! This was my first time using my IP and I was nervous. It came out so tender and tasty. My husband and I both talking about how good it was. Thanks!!

    Looked awesome....but a suggestion to all instant pot users. Let the steam out away from your cabinets. Wont take but a few times to start warping/ruining the wood. Most cabinets arent made of much more than particle board and laminate. Or vaneer. Point the steam towards the open sink etc.

    We cooked these tonight and they came out perfect. I was concerned that 40 minutes might be too much, but I got to say they were perfect. The fat just fell away from the meat. The next time I might try 15 minutes as one of your viewers recommended seeing what the difference is. Thanks for posting. ( I loved hearing your kids in the background)

    Next time try searing (saute) the ribs before adding the onions. Bumps it up to a new level

    I've cooked country pork ribs in my Instant Pot at various times. 12 minutes, 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 45 minutes 1 hour, 1 hour 30 minutes. They were all dry and chewy (even at 12 min). "Fall off the bone" soft for sure, but dry and chewy nevertheless. I guess that's why they have BBQ sauces filling the grocers' shelves. Haven't tried this recipe yet. Will add it to my collection.

      I know this was a year ago, but I followed everyone's recipes for meat in the InstantPot, and everything was always dry. Then, I started using LOW pressure, and everything turned out moist and flavorful. I usually add about 10 minutes to the time, to make sure.

      You think you would've added more liquid the second time.

  • @nicolekirkham5555

    For those who are saying it burned, when you are putting the ribs in, don't put the fat side down in the pot. You do not want any fat touching the bottom of that pan, or it will burn.

    Thank you

    Is there enough liquid in this recipe for the pressure cooker. I realize that there is a cup of sauce used but it basically coats the ribs. I am accustomed to using more liquid when using my pressure cooker. Thanks!

    Haven't used pot yet. All other sites say to put water in the bottom, and soups and BBQ sauce on top of the meat to prevent burn from showing up? They do not look like they burned!

      Dana Reed she put water in the bottom. Plus the IP will tell you if it’s BURN. 😊

    Are you still happy with this recipe? Have you made any adjustments to the cooking time? I have always roasted country style ribs in the oven, but I'd like to try 'em in the Instant Pot tonight.

      It is good. I made this the same night I posted my question, but I followed the cooking directions here: www.pressurecookingtoday.com/country-style-barbecue-pork-ribs/
      This link was posted by another commenter. I increased the suggested cooking time to 20 minutes (25 might be even better), as the cooking time at that link is a bit short, and the cooking time in this video is much too long.
      The sauce for this recipe (the one used in the video) is very good, but it was too mild for my liking. I would recommend adding some cayenne pepper to it, which is what I did when eating the leftovers. I don't like things to be extremely hot, but the sauce is just too tame without cayenne.

    making this today, just like the recipe say's . meat is thick and need's to be cooked. smells awsome and hope they fall apart. I don't like ribs on the skinny bone, all bone and no meat. thats why I prefer short ribs

    I followed your instructions and it burnt, I immediately shut the pot down, emptied the bowl and cleaned it. I trimmed the burnt ribs then put the trivet in and put the ribs and sauce back in and restarted the program. This time ribs cooked without burning and came out great but I'm trying to figure out why I got the burn sign the first time I tried cooking them, did you use the trivet to keep the ribs off the bottom of the pot?

    • @Thrashmetalman
      @Thrashmetalman 5 лет назад +1

      mostly likely its due to lack of moisture. Just raw thick sauce tends to risk burning in the instapot I have found.

    • @missjewells5063
      @missjewells5063 4 года назад

      You might have needed to deglaze the bottom of the Liner. It’ll burn if you don’t.

    What size instant pot is this? Looks like maybe 6 or 8 quart. Would this recipe work with a 3 quart? Would you reduce ingredients and cooking time by one half? New to thus.

    • @missjewells5063
      @missjewells5063 4 года назад

      donna hudec anything works in a smaller IP. Try it for 15 - 30 mins, with less ribs, or however many fit. When I’m trying to figure out a recipe, I use the lesser time, and if it needs more cooking, I add time. Yeah, you might have to wait longer because it’ll have to come to pressure twice or three times, but at least they’ll get right sooner or later, and then you’ll know the correct recipe for your IP and elevation.
