I appreciate that you take the time to make Booktube videos, even though your son is sick. I hope he gets better. I have enjoyed the live action Disney movies, but some of the criticisms of the live action Mulan have made me apprehensive. BTW your discussions on presidential biographies motivates me to want to read my Jefferson one and the ones about the Adams family.
I love these videos, Kate. I love seeing what you pick up at the library. I hope that Peter feels better soon and you and your family have a merry, cozy holiday season. ♥️🎄
I’m so glad that books and people are there for you right now and always. Several of these reads intrigue me, but I’ve got so much going on right now. I’ll stay tuned. ❤️🎄😀
I just read The Wood at Midwinter, really interesting!! That archive with the maps and the information about the battles looks fantastic! What a great idea. Praying for the continuous healing of Peter and sending love for all your family ❤ So glad that you could find solace in books 📚
I’m sooo glad you are enjoying Secrets of Ormdale! Hopefully, they will be all intriguing to you! I’m saving the last one for a fantasy mood to kick in! 😍♥️
I’m so glad you are listening to and enjoying Meg’s podcast. She is such a lovely presence here in the bookish community! Also I’m planning to read Every Living Thing during the week after Christmas if you wanted to chat about it at all. Sending Peter and your family lots of love. ❤
I hope your Christmas reading is cozy and life giving! Also praying that this Christmas is one where your family can draw together and feel deeply comforted ❤
Good luck to your son. Hope he is back home by now. I read Green Rider many years ago but never got around to reading the rest of the series. I remember liking it though.
Thinking of Peter and those amazing Civil War maps! What a great find! I completely agree with you about Miss Read--although I loved the Fairacre books, Mrs Pringle storyline was so annoying it kept them from being perfect. The Thrush Green books feel more comforting and enjoyable. Fun fact just for you: I was reading about the life of E. M. Delafield (author of Diary of a Provincial Lady series) and learned that she was a huge fan of Charlotte Mary Yonge.
Hello Kate! I hope you are doing well. I really enjoyed your video. I especially enjoyed the book with the Civil War maps. I have been to Vicksburg several times. My father was born and raised in Natchez. I do not hear a Mississippi accent when you speak like I heard my dad's. Keep up the great work. Have a great day!
Thanks so much! Sadly, I completely unintentionally lost my accent over time. My parents weren't native to the area so I already had less of an accent.
This is my first year trying an Advent devotional, I picked up a copy of Winter Fire by GK Chesterton but I am excited to try it. I’ve been listening to The Bible In A Year podcast since the summer so I’m currently at the story of David. Not sure where I will end up by Christmas lol. I’m a bit nervous to try a devotional but I also really want to make this Advent more meaningful, especially since last December was the beginning a lot of trials for my mother and our whole family. I picked up a copy of a book called 52 Simple Ways to Make Christmas Special. I’m hoping to find some things in there to do with my kids this season, the book goes from Advent to Christmas to Epiphany. I totally understand “reading for your life”. It’s been a struggle to get back in. Funnily enough, last year when all the issues with my Mom started, I read Wintering. I would sit alone in the early morning and read a section at a time, almost like a devotional. I did think of you because I remembered you loving it. It was definitely so meaningful and still is. I was reading my Mom’s copy and she had made a few notes in the margins. I will be praying for you all and I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving. Very excited to hear how your plans progress!
That sounds like a great way to dip your toes in! I hope that it doesn't feel overwhelming and that it's truly an enriching time. So sorry that you and your mom are going through a hard time. Thanks so much for praying for our family!
I’m loving the sparkly countdown numbers and the embracing of the chaotic reading energy! I’ve read barely anything this month so am hoping my reading mojo comes back in time for December! 🤞
Well, you did it. Although I love the fantasy genre, I 've had no interest in Ladyhawke for almost 40 years. But the theme you mentioned in it, of performing acts of disinterested good for others suddenly makes it sound rather wonderful. Thanx for another great tip! Wishing you and your family a happy Thanksgiving together.
Lovely video, Kate! I have been looking forward to my Advent reading since last Advent. I have a devotional that uses R.S. Thomas's poetry as a point of reflection. And thanks to you helping me decide, I can't wait for Pilgrim's Inn! I just finished book 142 for my Vic Lit list! Only eight more to go this year! Oh no! I'm sorry Hopes and Fears didn't live up to its early promise for you. I thought Phoebe ended up being the stronger character. 🤔
I used to criticize the Israelites for their unbelief and not trusting. And that carried over into the Jews like you were reading in 2 Chronicles... and then I look around and see people have never changed. Still the falling away from the God that loves them/us so much (not to mention the things we do as a people now that are similar to what they did throughout all the King's and judges).
I’m so glad you’re enjoying Green Rider! I’ve enjoyed what I’ve read so far. I still need to read Winterlight. From what I remember it doesn’t get super graphic or violent. ❤
I hope you and your family have a wonderful, healthy Christmas! I recently listened to The Christmas Hirelings on your recommendation and I really loved it! It was so cozy and sweet! I look forward to your thoughts on The Green Rider-I've had it on my kindle for awhile now but the length intimidates me and I don't know anyone who's read it 😅

@@katehowereads I started the Jefferson one.
@jackiesliterarycorner Awesome!

Thank you, Doris! Books are the absolute best.

Thank you so much, Meghan!
Poor little guy. I hope he is home and well soon.
I like the sound of green rider I thinking of listen to it .❤
Good luck to your son. Hope he is back home by now. I read Green Rider many years ago but never got around to reading the rest of the series. I remember liking it though.
@@myreadinglife8816 Thank you, Heidi! Thankfully he was able to come home after only two nights!

Mrs. Pringle was just altogether too much...That is so fun that she mentions Charlotte Mary Yonge!
I’m totally checking out that podcast! 😍♥️
I’ve heard good things about The Bletchley Riddle, too! 😮😮😮
It sounds like so much fun!

The map of the civil war battlegrounds looks so interesting.
Chaotic reading energy is going around! I hope you continue to enjoy Green Rider. 🙂

“Mainly because of Mrs. Pringle!” 🤣🤣🤣For some reason, that really made me laugh! 😅 She’s not my favorite, either. 😖
