Happy New Year, Kate! Thank you for being so open about your chronic illness, I have been suffering for over 20 years from an invisible chronic illness and I have found it to be a lonely and difficult path, your openness about your own chronic illness journey has been an encouragement to me, as weird as that sounds. Praying 2025 is a year of renewed health for your family! 🙏
Elizabeth Cadell has been hit or miss with me as well but I LOVED The Cuckoo in Spring as well as the Waynes of Wood Mount series, I hope you enjoy it as well. Marling Hall has been one of my favorite Angela Thirkell so far, very Jane Austen-like but with a WWII setting.

Hi, Theresa! If the photo on my Goodreads profile matched my RUclips profile it was me! I went off Goodreads late 2023 because I want to limit how much time I spend online, I figured out I was actually spending more time scrolling my Goodreads feed than I was spending actually reading some days so I closed my account. I do miss some of the friends I had made there but I feel it's best if I stay away. I hope you are doing well! 💛

@@theresas709 I'm sorry for just disappearing, I guess I didn't think anyone would care/notice if I went off Goodreads. I had something really stressful happen in my life at around the same time so I wasn't thinking that clearly.
Yes, I am still reading but not quite as much as I was, my reading time has halved in the past 14 months so I was only able to finish half the amount of books in 2024 that I was able to read in 2023. That has been disappointing but I try to just be grateful that I can still find time to read at all.

Sorry your family is dealing with these intense health challenges. As I get older, I find it is more the norm than the exception to go on these journeys. The hymns I grew up with certainly reflected that--contemporary culture, not so much. We strive to keep calm and carry on, as the British say.
I remember Elizabeth Cadell from years ago, so just downloaded the mystery (Death and Mrs. Dane) to see how she ages. :-) I don't think I've ever read Angela Thirkell, so downloaded the first two, since this is about the third time she's surfaced for me, here on booktube.
We need come coziness to get through the Midwestern winter.
I didn't get far in Wolf Hall--too violent for me. We did watch the film of it, and I found the ending traumatic.
Kudos to you for plowing through those Presidential biographies. That's quite a discipline.

Your RUclips presence is a comforting one for me, so it's always nice to see you in a new library forage edition. It's nice to hear your positive content about positive entertainment in today's popular culture milieu. You are a blessing, Kate. Elizabeth Cadell is another author to whom you've introduced me, and The Waiting Game sounds intriguing...the premise reminds me a little of "Persuasion," i.e., the return of a lost love after time has moved on for you both. Cadell seems to make it more complicated, and the main character's relationship w/ her stepson sounds heartwarming. Love the women's fashions on those Angela Thorkell covers...I long for the days when women wore wrist length gloves as they went about their day! Since your delving into Hebrews, you might be interested, if you don't have one already, in getting a modern translation of the Greek septuagint (I like the Lexham English Septuagint). The writer of Hebrews, ironically, was quite possibly Greek and very well educated (he seems to allude to Plato's analogy of the cave at one point). I've read that the Greek for Hebrews is complicated ( as opposed to, say, that of John), and the writer draws extensively on the alternate transmission of the original Hebrew scriptures preserved in Greek. He quotes the Septuagint version of the OT verses directly about 36 times and alludes to it around two dozen times. Having a copy of the writer of Hebrews own source material (howbeit further translated into English) to consult could be a fun way to round out your Bible study. Hello Kate. Regarding Westerns I’d like to recommend two great books that are fantastic on audio: True Grit read by the author Donna Tartt and The Comanche Kid. Really fantastic narration in both and terrific stories.

So curious to see how you'll like Wolf Hall. I loved it, but can see how it could be annoying sometimes.

As always, continuing to pray. I’m glad there’s pockets of joy in the midst of the heavier stuff. 😍🥹🥲♥️ Yay 😅GREEN RIDER! I’m so excited. I’m taking a short break before #4! I really looooved The Christmas Mummers by CMY! Novellas and short stories are very hit or miss for me! 😅 I love AW Tozer! ♥️
