No one sells it better than Andy Mac!
💯%
Why he is still working for them
@@renechang2406 because he has a fantastic job and loves the networking as most would. Also pretty sure he is well paid and thoroughly enjoying himself. 💯% 👊🧡👍
@@drindy5166 I would luv the job, playing with all that gear!
@@jazzman1892 Right!!! 👊🧡👍 let alone the travel and events! Meeting good peops! Hellz ya!!! Such a great spirit to work for a great company.
Andy Mac has to be probably the best well versed knowledgeable akai ambassador ever
I agree 100%. It is very easy to understand his tutorials also. Dude is very knowledgeable about Akai hardware and software.
The MPC X SE is more than just a drum machine. The possibility is unlimited. You can use it to control Ableton, you can hook up hardware synths and control them with the Mpc X se or vice verse. You can do so much more with this now with a computer.
Andy Mac makes all this stuff look so easy. And then you're sitting in front of your own MPC and you go: Bruuuh
😂
True
Andy Mac will be remembered as a legend as much as the awesome gear he promotes, as always a fantastic overview
indeed!
No one will surpass the timbre wolf guy

Andy Mac selling this mtfer like it aint the same damn machine he was selling back in 2016. That My Guy! He The Man!
Andy is off da hook, super thanks. A friend sold me his X, and it was my first MPC, he told me I need it, and he was right! My studio will never be the same, and I am glad! Mpc 4 ever!
Superb video, thank you Andertons and Andy Mac - well done!
Masterful demo and I seriously want one. Great job gents!
What a joy to watch Andy working the MPC
Andy is the man 🙌🏼 Thanks for having him showcase this Jack 👍🏼
fantastic review & superb video, thank you Andy Mac
MPC Live ii revolutionized every aspect of my music. from guitar, keys, vst, and of course drums. the I/O options are ridiculous and makes for an awesome centerpiece of any type of creation- not limited by genre. it does any sound, trust me
It’s a hard take to assume a sampler in 2023 is gonna sound or is supposed to sound like a limited bit rate sampler from a couple decades ago. I personally love the lo fi stuff and just like every other piece of vintage gear from guitars to synths… you hold on to those because the forward goal of reaching pristine sound quality is to have anything you feed into a sampler be exactly replicated and not colored by dated converters. We have learned over the years to use limitations stylistically and people are now becoming upset that they have to learn more about production processes to dirty up clean sounds because those limitations have been remedied. Most of us have done it this way already for years. So having an mpc that needs to be given some grit isn’t shocking. I get the reason why people are upset but do you complain or do you adapt? A lot of the people complaining are ratting themselves out that they all relied on a consumer product to solely be their sound. Cats should have been pushing the mpc through outboard stuff even back in the day instead of all following the leader as to learn as little as possible about the process but still get the pro results. Shortcuts
Once mpc started getting side stepped for maschine, akai started going after the NI style software/hardware model back on the renaissance to stay competitive outside of just the hip hop crowd.
A lot of hardware dawless producers use the new Mpcs for edm and center pieces for sending midi, cv and audio data for their performances. If it were instantly colored like the older mpc units then that would limit the control of the sound to far more artist then the hip hop cats that rely on the degradation of old converters for saturation
That’s was well said. As someone who has a S950 and MPC 60 and now the newer stuff I enjoy the older gear but your right there was a crutch. You can color the new gear as needed. You have options. Saving this comment as a reference. Kudos.
amazingly said my friend. i love the new mpcs personally and i feel your fully right about people being lazy abt it. expecting a dirty sound so they dont have to actually use fx and other things to grit it. its funny though cause all of the new mpcs actually have a vintage mode where it emulates the sound of old hardware(im pretty sure the ones they have are 3000,60,sp1200,and sp1200 ring mod).
Andy made me want to buy one. Great perspective and knowledge!
Andy rules! dope demo once again👊
What a masterclass. Never thought I'd be interested in gear like this, but this video made this very tempting.
Respect for getting someone in who really knows his chops. ✊The level of enthusiasm emanating from you both is infectious.
Brilliant video Andy Mac I got the mpc x n love it
Dope review!!
This Ladies and Gentlemen is how you demo a product!!! Hats off!!!
Andy mac is a treasure!! Love the man! Brings it back to the essence!! Akai give the man a raise!
Great video! Thanks
💃🏻🕺🏼
This is your best video ever you guys have great music chemistry together plus he made that beat so fast and the beat was so amazing like wow. Your other greatest video when you made the beat on the NPC keys wow
this beat is dope...love the new MPC aswell, absolute killer machine!
Yeah I thought Ill and Al Skratch we’re gonna make a comeback 😂 that’s not a dig it was good enough to be on an album Andy is dope.
Thanks for the shoutout Andy :)
Andy Mac always has the dopest demos. Tight beats!
DAAAAAAAAAMN!!! That thing is awesome! 🔥🔥🔥
Happy anniversary MPC!!!
Amazing demo and example track. Lovely. I'm interested to hear about how you make everything in the same key - is there a feature to help with this? Also in prepping the sounds for this, what's involved? I usually create my track in DAW and then move to SP404SX - however this may be an all in one solution for me going forward.
I pulled the triggger and bought one from andertons last week, absolutely love it 😎
Let’s just face it, the MPC X is has been and will always be one of the best machines created by humanity for humanity. It’s fluid solid and screams play me and have fun.
Andy Mac just recreated Simply Red's - Holding Back The Years ( 'I keep holding on').....I have the MPC Key 61. It's by far one of the BEST pieces of music technology I've ever owned.......I'm 60 in a couple of months. I'm in the process of recreating Depeche Mode (Vince Clarke's) 'I just can't get enough'. I've just got to record the vocals (all on the MPC Key 61) and I'll have produced what it took a whole studio to achieve in one standalone keyboard.
Wow this guy know his gear👍
I have a few machines and the MPC is by far my favourite most fun to use (once you understand how the MPC works).
MPC architecture has too many weird roadblocks and rules for me. Why make a box with 16 pads that you can’t just quickly hit “group C” and make those 16 pads anything you want? Pad 2,3 synths, pad 4 sample, pads 9-16 drums… maschine just lets you RUN FREE. Of course I prefer Push, but… every time I try MPC I remember why I don’t use MPC. To each his own.
I do not get it, tell me whats so good with the workflow as workflow is number one to me
was on the fence about ordering this, but watching this has made me pull the trigger...shame it won't come till after the bank holiday now 😭
Getting it soon !!!!!!💯💯💯💯💯🔥🔥🔥🔥
Great video! So when we say 'people will have to move fast'.... this is a limited edition?
Thanks for the video, I have the current MPCX now and everyone should keep in mind though it says standalone you have to have a measuring point what that means. For me the bar is five minutes song eight audio tracks and eight plug-ins. Currently, with the two gig version it is impossible. I work in a linear fashion and the best I can do is 8 audio tracks and one plug-in and I am at 90% or better of memory used. So maybe standalone should be rethought what that is supposed to mean.
Oh Boi🔥🔥🔥
Quite impressive how tasteful they l've hybridised InMusic's DNA on it - on both the form factor/UI and implementation - pretty sure Denon/Prime users will be naturally attracted to it too
Wow - love the colour - it truly is a blast from the past. A true icon .....and that's just Jack🤣 Seriously, Andy Mack is brilliant and the hardware is very compelling. I want one, but after I've paid my gas bill....ooops nowt left🤣
Not really its exactly the same as the MPC Renaissance with this look with the screan being the only thing different.
we should be able to put markers to time strech only parts of a sample without having to reset start and end to that specific part then not being able to listen to the whole thing.
For my next akai product purchase Im waiting for the Force 2 with bigger tiltable screen to be honest :)
If that’s the case what machines do you recommend? I personally just own an MPC Live
Andy Mac your the man
Does using the USB interface mode (tascam model 12 etc) still disable all the inbuilt MPC audio in/outs?
Can you do tutorial of the MPCX from scratch please 🙏
This was fabulous. He’s bloody quicker than AI at generating a mean beat. What he holds in his head is remarkable.
Haven’t used a daw since I got the x and flavor pro.
This looks awesome but I just bought an asr10 and outta space for a beast like this.
Would’ve liked to have seen the traditional fader but hay there’s enough connectivity on this to add whatever you fancy.
Although it’s funny how keen folk are to get out of the box 📦 then they jump straight back in 😂
regarding live sample mangling - does it beat the Octatrack?
Great job Akai! I love it although I don’t need it. I got a battery powered MPC One retro already.
But if you’re done painting I’d love to hear more about the 3.0 and prob MPC One Two :)
And maybe that live mini standalone? I’m sure it’s just a rumor right?
Also, Andy rules. He’s a great musician too.
Fantastic
My 2500 is just staring at me like.. bruh, we been through tough times b. We the real shit/smh.
This brings it in line with the Key 61, but they lowered the price of the Key 61 after realising it wasn't right priced in the market, and I think they lowered the price of the plugins or had a prolonged sale. I'd like Akai to do more to encourage early adopters, but with those caveats stated it's still a great product.
Exactly what I was thinking..I think I’ll go with the 61 for that reason.
Did they fixed the software from previous model?
To this day I can’t open MPC projects on plugin mode on Mac Logic Pro
I would like to see this or other of the mpc's in a demonstration of linear recording using a synth setup!
I would like to see that also
Just got it yesterday and it’s now sold out everywhere! Some vendors even increased the retail price. The demand is really strong
The live mk3 will have the LED under the Q links. I have asked for this years ago
It’s good but for the price you think it would be miles better than the others..but as it stands it seems it’s just More ram/storage and comes with all the air plugins…
I have the akai mpc one. And that’s still a monster and I love it :)
Same, MPC One owner here, and there's literally nothing this can do that my mpc one can't.
Look exactly the same as the MPC Renaissance with the same exact coloure scheme. For those not aware the MPC X is actually directly designed from the Renaissance with the only 2 differences being a modern screan and computer and stand alone mode.
Beat is bussing
still waiting for the step time recording on the mpc
4 gb of ram only ?
Can We have a 30 minute pure jam from Andy Mac? I'd watch that.
Is the processing power the same as the AKAI Keys?
Workflow and feel with hands on playing of the pads but working with the easiest sequencer also. Andy Mac is a Wiz for this.
Got To Get Me One Of Those Going Once Going Twice Sold
When I completely master my mpc live 2 I will buy me this bad boy.
why? i also have the live 2 and i think i never ever need another sampler/drum maschine. ok, maybe when they release the mpc live 2 with analog filters i would buy another one. :D
@@truelionofjudah4097 why? I got money and some more 😂 and i think having a dedicated MPC X as the center piece of any studio is great. the mpc live 2 is like my side chick she hit the streets with me.
As a mpc one user, now my GAS is in full swing. Well done, AKAI😅 One way you could help me to make up for this: Fix the weird layout of qlinks in all the other mpcs.😎
LET'S GO ANDY!
I’ve been wanting to make beats since the 80s. But I’m always overwhelmed by these machines. 😫😫😫
Big shout out to ROGER LINN!!!!!!!!!!!! THE CREATOR!!!!!!!!!
Roger Linn is a prick. Ask him who he stole the 3000 from.
I would love mpc x and live and mpc one to take native instruments plugins and autria plugins and other plugins ,,,please make it a update
Did the after party expansion come with it
SURELY jack would think the mpc keys 61 is the best?
It’s a nice machine for some who has nothing serious. I’m still saying the mv8000 still has mpc beat . The mpc renaissance was my baby but it’s a nice semi center piece to buy
That's basically how I create my music ....and some more
Andy you are the best. Yet, I don't see much difference from the original X.
Will the next update 3.0 allow us to load in our own custom load screens, and manipulate samples inside our MPCs with midi controller turntable decks in the question though? (We shall see).
You can already load custom graphics into the mpc for plug-ins and other pages, saw a video on RUclips from poli popo
@@boratezel Yeah I am aware of those. I`m talking about customizing the actual boot logo screen like you can do with the SP-404MK2.
Is this mainly intended for hiphop producers or would it shine in an electronic music studio (analog modular synths)-would this be a good sequencer for a Eurorack?
It can do a great job as a sequencer. CV and MIDI. I use it for Jazz, R&B, Ambient, and Hip-hop.
I can't get over how these things feel like a gigantic IPad, and Akai still hasn't made the actual UI intuitive and flow better with a focus on UX. the hardware side of it all is awesome (owned an MPC Live II), but I'm still waiting to be sold on the actual software. If we're gonna invest in a glorified touchscreen tablet with a bunch of I/O, we need the touchscreen tablet part to undergo a massive overhaul. It's not TERRIBLE but it's not SATISFYING and it works for some people but could work for so many more people if Akai would just take on an overhaul of the UI/UX of the "in-screen" systems of the standalone MPC line. Something like an Elektron Octatrack is insanely unintuitive but once you get it, it's satisfying, and feels like it's augmenting your abilities. Akai MPC's continue to feel like a computer away from a computer, and an iPad away from an iPad. I'm about to be somewhere with poor internet for a handful of months so I've been thinking of a standalone workstation again, and this is super interesting, but everything on the screen looks like the same tired old scatter-brained UI/UX software experience unfortunately. If they launch any genuinely new products without an updated UX of the soft/firm/hardware experience of their MPC ecosystem, they're really gonna start falling out of the market
If you link a Tablet running FL studio mobile to a MPK Mini mk3 you pretty much have a MPC. The MPC built in software is a DAW.
Well said and I fully agree. Beautiful piece of hardware that is just unusable for me. Such a disappointment.
Exactly. I feel if you are going to use this, you might as well just use a computer with a pad controller. I can get along much much fast with Elektron gear. Once you get past the learning curve of Elektron, you're flying.
If your can't use it, it's just not for you. I have Ableton Live and can't stand it. It's not for me. That's life. You can't please everyone. MPCs work well for me.
@@matthewgaines10 True! I have deep respect for Akai though especially in the early jungle era and love what they did to make the MPC Live II... it was everything I've ever wanted in a portable groovebox with its own speaker other than the unsatisfying touchscreen experience at the center of it all and the very mid software app. Now if MPCs were 200 bucks cheaper and came with no screen but worked well like that, and you could dock your own iPad / tablet into a slot on it, or just plug in a monitor, and THEN deal with their dated app software as a peripheral control method, then it's like a bonus for the money kinda like the OP-Z
Man I kinda really want this
everything your doing Andy can be done on my MPC X.
How much I need it
Question to Andy....how you automate XY ?
The Ren really reborn
This guy knows what he's doing. I cant stand videos where someone claims to be an expert then makes trash beats 😂
This colorway is a game changer 😂
Is beautifull she remember me my MPC 4000 in terms of embedded technology
i mess with both of yall. hopefully yall can speak on it and come to an understanding
Is it true they removed the ethernet element? Not a deal breaker...was about to get the live 2.
It looks like a spaceship 🚀 😂😂😂 Beautifully made…
I think for me this is a lazy upgrade but probably very smart from Akai’s point of view, it’s certainly a great way for them to use up all their old stock pilled components by making the minimalist of changes, adding a new colour and giving it an extra couple of letters after its name. I think the 35th anniversary is just an excuse to do this. Doesn’t even have the Ethernet port.
48 GB of storage, I mean you could have just as easily made it 64GB for probably no extra, 48GB is a very odd number for storage.
So does the clock start ticking again for the Akai MPC X SE or does it continue the same as the MPC X making it still a 7 year old product.
I’m sure there will be lots of gear heads who collect MPC’s that will buy this, but for the average user who already has an MPC X and the plug-in suite even a Live MK II user is this enough of an upgrade to warrant spending $2400 on essentially 2GB RAM, 32GB of extra storage, a colour change, and a different badge. You can buy a 32GB SD card for a few bucks.
I can’t speak for anyone else but I totally feel disappointed, I was hoping for a new flag ship with game changing specs, it’s been 7 years rocking the same old device ,same old outdated components.
It’s not like this machine give us anymore audio or plug-in tracks or anything like that.
As the old saying goes “ you can put lipstick on a pig, but it’s still a pig”
So now the question is when do we think there will be any actual new upgrades MPC’s?
PS: I prefer the black and red MPC X, the black buttons on the MPC X SE should have been a different colour.
I think it was a good idea from akai marketing wise. I half way agree with you. But look at the value. You get 500-1000 worth of their plug ins along with it. So it’s definitely worth exploring the idea of upgrading for people who have an X already that want to sale their old gear and get the refreshed look if they haven’t already bought into the new plug ins. Also it’s a bit attractive to a newcomer that wants to come aboard the Mpc family. But for me I also feel a bit let down because they should have upgraded more than what they did.
@@jltbk5420 I’ve been thinking about my comment since I posted it.
I think for me I got so wrapped up and excited about the hype, I’ve been patiently waiting and waiting for months for this new MPC to drop, I didn’t want to believe the leaks, hoping they were fake and wrong, counting down the weeks till NAMM and then the bombs started going off.
1: Akai not at NAMM so no release at NAMM
2: The release of the SE being what it is.
I’m my heart I just wanted something more, something different but more importantly something new new. But hey that’s on me, I’m a tech junkie that gets excited about stuff like this.
You made some great points especially for new MPC buyers coming on board that defo makes sense.
The software, we it’s not a physical thing like hardware, once the software is made your R&D costs are the same if you gave it to one person or a million it’s just code. But it’s great for sure it comes with it, but if you compare the cost of the MPC X now at $1699.00 compared to SE $2400.00 it’s cheaper just to buy the plugins, that’s if you need them at all.
Time will tell.
Will you get one?
I know the RUclipsrs are loving it, but there is everything to love if you’ve been given the SE for free, but in these times where we all need to watch our dollars we need to spend our money wisely, after all it’s a hella lot of nickels and dimes.
I appreciate you replying.
The name being "Special Edition" doesn't really make it even sound like it is supposed to be a whole new thing. It is basically just a color change and plugin expansion pack. I would not view it as a new piece of hardware and more of just an ascetic refresher.
Now they are definitely marketing and hyping it as something bigger but this overview basically applies in a general fashion to any morden MPC from the studio to the X. It is kinda like the promotional role out for the X SE is just filling the gap with the regular X so it gets the same level of promotion that the other models have had due to the media landscape in how we interact with content changing since 2017. Akai historically never gave the X as much push media wise since it was older.
@@R41NES I’m really not sure yet. Several things come into play on making the decision to pull the trigger. I’m at 80/20 leaning more towards no. I own several pieces of gear and the more I get the less productive I become. I own the Live II and the X along with a keyboard workstation and sequential prophet. At the moment my mpc X or live isn’t even peaking cpu usage on a my bigger projects. So the need for more ram isn’t a must. Also memory is cheaper by the day so a 1 gig ssd is about $79. I own already a bunch of Native instruments libraries so the plug ins the new se comes with is more of a want than a need. As a matter of fact I already have the latest Roland Fantom with better sounds than what the mpc plug ins offer. So the new shiny toy (MPC SE) will probably have to pass on it at the moment. Don’t get me wrong I really would like to upgrade just for the heck of having the latest and greatest but I have enough already. Before I’d purchase a new MPC I’d probably go for a older one for the nostalgia of owning what I wanted when I first started doing music. Maybe a 2000xl or 2500. But that’s just my thoughts on it. Maybe next week or next month I’d have talked myself into getting it. But if I do I would have to have a buyer lined up for my current mpc x
@@jltbk5420 I’m like you still on the fence with this one. I certainly don’t need it like you got a tonne of gear Fantom 76, Jupiter X, Poly Brute, SEq Take 5 MPC X, Live II Retro and an absolute tonne of VST synths but I hate missing out. Clearly it’s going to be a few more years before we seen an actual MPC X / SE replacement.
One minute I’m like just order it, the next I’m like you don’t need it save the $$$’s.
The coming days will tell for sure.
On a side note I watched a few of your videos earlier, bro your a natural presenter, they looked and sounded fab bro bro, you got Skillz in all departments. The Rode mic certainly made a big difference to the sound, so much clearer when you swapped over.
Salute to Andy Mac.
The color, OK talk about the sound
21:54 " could not be better said about MPC"
Serious workstation, especially people who want to work DAWlessly.
Great work guys.
Don't believe the market.. The software in it is a DAW. The very nature of an MPC is a Digital Audio Work station
People working "DAWlessly" reminds me of people still using Nokia phones-and I loved my old Nokia-but convenience always wins.
The MPCs or any device that has a screan that has software that has Sequencer, Mixer, sound editing, record, functions is not Dawless. The MPC software is a DAW same as FL studio mobile made to be optimised for tutch screan.
@@jayandgem MPCs software is a DAW.
I would like the MPC to be the center of my workflow. If you read the feature list, it positioned to be the best at it. Unfortunately, every time I have tried to integrate it into my setup, the MPC has failed to be able to do simple tasks.
Its very nice
