Yo, I'm so glad you used Castle/Arose to showcase his storytelling. That's one of my favorite, if not my favorite piece of art from Eminem. And the fact that you let the whole thing ride was great! I appreciate you big dawg!
The thing that confuses me about that song is how well put together and researched it is then he completely throws all of that away and blames the inanimate object that was harming nobody the entire video until the guy hopped up on drugs gets a hold of it
I feel like Deja Vu should've been included in this story-telling list, but it fits the "transparency" category as well. Hopefully you'll include it next time, it's such a good song. Deja Vu and Beautiful, both of them.
As a father myself, the best 'storytelling' example by Em (for me personally due to situations over the years) is Mockingbird. That is one song that hits extremely close to home on a personal level. So much so, that while I love it because of how close it is, it is also extremely hard to listen to without getting emotional about it myself. And one of the biggest reasons why that one song hits so hard is because Em and I are roughly 1 year different in age. So while we were both going through some of the same stuff at the same age, to hear it on a track from someone else who dug their way out of that situation (Em obviously did it on a bigger scale than I did) and looking back at all the things that got in the way? Mockingbird is TRULY the "father looking back on time and noticing missed moments" type of track that hits, but is also a "father looking ahead at the good times for my child" type of track too.

Em tells his own story/stories more often than anything else. And doesn't do it all the time, but when he puts his mind to it i think he might be the best. I think what makes him such an immaculate story teller is specifically how he tells these vivid stories and amazing imagery with such dense rhyme schemes like Soldier or Framed; especially on Relapse. Stay Wide Awake, Buffalo Bill, Deja Vu, and My Darling as obvious choices. But even huge songs like Lose Yourself and Stan have these insane rhyme structures that most people don't recognize. Also my favorite fact is that lose yourself is a story about the character in the movie and not him. Obviously it drew inspiration but there were key characteristics in the movie that were not reality; like him living in a trailer park. this was fiction, he literally has his house pictured in two of his album covers MMLP/MMLP2
That last line of Arose is so clever, cause it also references the first song of the album, Walk on Water, where he asks in the first line ”Why are expectations so high?”
I hope Legacy is in part 2, thats literally my life also, how it changed and keep changing, from being bullied to keep getting confidence and being a succes man
I think Eminem is one of the best is but I feel that Lupe Fiasco is the rapper that everyone acknowledges in the storytelling field, his album "The Cool" is proof of that, also Kendrick in "DAMN" told an story in his songs depending if you listen forward or backwards. You can say a lot of negative things about Em but you can't say that he doesn't wear his heart on his sleeve. And the fact that this is based on his actual overdose that almost took away this brilliant mind!
Pac is my favorite Rapper. I enjoy Jay Z Lil Wayne Joyner The Game 50 Biggie Cube. But EM is just on another level! He is an amazing Poet that's for sure.
One of my favorites is When Im Gone. That story in itself says alot and I love how Eminem is so open about his past and struggles truly one of the greatest to do it!
Thank you for this 🖤 Marshall is the Best at telling his life story ! In a way no one could ever tell their life story ! I sat through your video and cried ! Listening to Eminem’s songs always paint a picture for me not many other rappers that I listen to can do that the way he does that for me !
If we're talking about his storytelling ability then i'm not surprised you had to split it into 2 parts. A few others that come to mind: Darkness, Legacy, Rock Bottom, Like Toy Soldiers, Tragic Endings (which i think is really slept on), Rabbit Run, Murder Murder...the list goes on
Deja vu - addiction legacy - "coming of age" Love you more - relationship Yellow Brick road - if you know you know you want feels? Em has feels as well
Eminem is his own tabloid. I know about Eminem through Eminem. The fact that there aren't many if any expose videos about him just goes to show, and if anything comes out he addresses it through his music. Childhood, relationships, Family if there is anything you wish to know he has addressed it in a song. Side note, for the last 20 plus years who has this man been dating? How has he been able to keep his life so private yet still put so much of himself out?
Hi! Stevie. It's original the way of delivering an intro as you do before seeing your reaction. I see the intro several times before listening all the rest. So interesting !! Thanks !!

I love what your doing man keep up the hard work. I'm one of the people that relates a lot he says I go through a lot of what he's going through it'll be a sad day when he's gone.
Then you got a song like “Darkness” where he puts himself in the shoes of a person he’s never met and yet somehow tells their story better than they could. Who else can do that and load it up with doubles and triples and quadruples even???
fucking goosebumps everytime. Just so beyond incredible. Its the clarity for me too, and people say he doesnt rap slow. such a short term memory on everyone. he sends his message in any flow he uses, something else underrated on him perhaps
I listen to hundreds of artist, Hip-hop, Rock, Country... Everything, and to me there's no one dead or alive that can make me feel like I'm right there and can literally see what they're saying like Eminem can. Like it's not even close. 🐐
Em is the greatest storyteller in rap. He clearly passes you the picture of the story. The intonation on his voice depending on the part of the song (anger, sadness, joy, etc). The fact that in stan, for instance, you can listen to pencil writing/car driving noises/rain mixed in the beat. Telling stories, even if more complex than usual, you can feel related to it, despite the absurds he says. He does that in every type of story, like all the examples you listed, totally different “plots” and they are all amazing. Is just truly genius.
Story telling is one of my favorite qualities of an artist. Especially if the artist carries the story or progresses the story through multiple albums. DMX did this very well with his "Damien" story. Em's story is more of a biography. He's telling his life's story. It's been a wild ride for sure. Can't wait to hear the next chapter.
I could spend time writing an entire comment about this subject. I agree with you on alot of your takes so far. He is my fav artist of all time. I reflected on alot of his life and music and it makes sense on so many songs he made how he pushes the pen and limits to his words. He pushes his pen so hard that even when i practiced alot of his music, I improved my speech comprehension which I had problems with for a long time due to mg disability. People just don't see his greatness. They see everything under a limited view
1 of the reason i love em is because of his story telling half the songs dont even need a music video cuz if you listen to the lyrics your imagination becomes the music video!
U gonna put all these "why Eminem is in the goat conversation" videos together in a playlist big bro? It would make things easier to show people after everything is set and done and just let them all play back to back. Great vid yet again.
Em is the Edgar Allen Poe, the Elvis, of our generation. His true fans are Ride or die. His music is a reflection of our lives. The ups the downs. When we needed an escape.
Thank you for showcasing his abilities during this series as well as b4, i just think it’s totally crazy that’s it’s needed. But it’s 100% needed, keep up the good works. I just cannot understand all the hate………… you cannot denny talent even if it’s not your wine
You could also add Bully, The Sauce, The Reunion, Legacy, Guilty Conscience, Love Game, Those Kinda Nights, I Need a Doctor, Stepdad, 8 Mile, and Run Rabbit Run just to name a few.
It's not even a question OF COURSE HE IS I never met him n I feel I know him he brought me on a journey from day one with HIS own story Never mind stories like Stan, mosh, Darkness The man is a savage
I'm commenting before watching the whole video. I hope Darkness is on the list. Two stories at the same time is something I haven't seen anyone else do. Shady did it so well too.
Haha love at how at the end Stevie had the biggest fckn epiphany. Like he just realized how many layers there was to the song and how much content he give just off that one|two songs shit to comp
Horrorcore is a genre in hiphop goes way back. Pioneered by old school rappers such as geto boyz cool keith tech n9ne insane clown pose. It is not as mainstream as other subgenres of hiphop. Castle and Arose!!! These 2 songs combined are fucking powerful as hell!!!! Still get tears even though Ive heard them a couple dozen times. That is powerful one two punch! You can say a lot of negative things about Em but you can't say that he doesn't wear his heart on his sleeve. And the fact that this is based on his actual overdose that almost took away this brilliant mind!
I love how much love Stevie gives em I been watching since the beginning
Pac is my favorite Rapper. I enjoy Jay Z Lil Wayne Joyner The Game 50 Biggie Cube. But EM is just on another level! He is an amazing Poet that's for sure.
Pac is definitely a goat when it comes to storytelling.
One of my favorites is When Im Gone. That story in itself says alot and I love how Eminem is so open about his past and struggles truly one of the greatest to do it!
Stevie, if you want to hear a good “story telling” song from Eminem to help highlight his creativity, listen to his song titled “Kids”!
can't remember if but normally a reaction lights up what you pushed asside. I hope he does I'm not looking the song up
I was waiting for Castle and Arose sir!! Thank you for your time and energy in your videos. Goat talking about a goat!
This is why I watch you Stevie, I never heard Music Box before this day. Keep up the great work!
Thank you for this 🖤 Marshall is the Best at telling his life story ! In a way no one could ever tell their life story ! I sat through your video and cried ! Listening to Eminem’s songs always paint a picture for me not many other rappers that I listen to can do that the way he does that for me !
Hey Steavie! Love your videos man especially this one. Keep up the good work.
Much love from the UK. 🙂👍🏾
Great series. Keep it going STEVIE. RESPECT FROM SOUTH AFRICA - CAPE TOWN
If we're talking about his storytelling ability then i'm not surprised you had to split it into 2 parts. A few others that come to mind:
Darkness, Legacy, Rock Bottom, Like Toy Soldiers, Tragic Endings (which i think is really slept on), Rabbit Run, Murder Murder...the list goes on
Stevie knight YOU EXPLAIN THIS SO WELL. Keep going tytyxo
One of the bests,no doubt!
I still give it to BIG... you will feel biggie smalls world deep inside hip pop...even if he talking of sad moments u will still be jamming it...
Definitely agree.
Deja vu - addiction
legacy - "coming of age"
Love you more - relationship
Yellow Brick road - if you know you know
you want feels?
Thanks !!
Murder murder off the slim shady EP is one of my favorite all time storyline track, it reminds me of nas's rewind. Just straight 🔥💯, appreciate ya Stevie knight, thanks for doing you!
Man nobody breaks it down like Stevie knight when it comes to Em so many turns and roads he can go
These 2 songs hit even harder when u know the fact that hailie was born on 25th dec and em overdosed on 24th... and he regained his consciousness on the 25th which was actually a tuesday as mentioned in the song.
Both songs connected to each other then say rewind the tape then the tape reminds back to the first song
Damn.. Stevie almost cried 😭😂😂😂😂love you man ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
STEVIE REACTION GOAT FOR THIS. NOT LIKE EVERY OTHER REACTOR WHO GET BIG ON EMINEM REACTIONS AND THEN DONT EVEN MENTION EMINEM. STEVIE SHOWS SO MUCH DAMN RESPECT CUS HE KEEPS IT 💯.
Lmao, the beginning when he says The Flow make My face do this 😡.....omg 🤣🤣🤣 dying
I listen to hundreds of artist, Hip-hop, Rock, Country... Everything, and to me there's no one dead or alive that can make me feel like I'm right there and can literally see what they're saying like Eminem can. Like it's not even close. 🐐
Stop sleeping on Nas Kendrick Lamar and The Roots
Thank you Steve, I wish Em will come across your videos one day
I could spend time writing an entire comment about this subject.
Stevie out here talking big facts!!!!
damn it, Stevie
I can't hear "Arose" without crying.
dammit
Straight up Stevie ~ Thank You you for using your platform for this!
Did I see Stevie Knight drop a tear lol all love big bro I ain’t gonna lie I did
one of my fav storytelling Em songs is, Love Game ft Kendrick 🔥
3a.m. & Framed,,,, are 2 of my favorite of his " stories " tracks , along with the ones you mentioned.... 💯🔥🔥🔥
Legacy and Step dad are probably his best storytelling songs, that focus on storytelling
1 of the reason i love em is because of his story telling half the songs dont even need a music video cuz if you listen to the lyrics your imagination becomes the music video!
Just started. Can't wait for this one. Where ya'll think Darkness stands? That joint just different man
It’s like unrealistically fire. Love this content
Big fan of Relapse, dark vivid stories
combined with technical rhyme schemes
Delivered flawlessly.
Legacy / Yellow Brick Road, so many great stories. Hell even Headlights.
some 1990s em freestyle were so brilliant and it takes you to a viscious world of story
U gonna put all these "why Eminem is in the goat conversation" videos together in a playlist big bro? It would make things easier to show people after everything is set and done and just let them all play back to back.
Great vid yet again.
Eminem's Bad guy and Stan are 2 of the best story telling songs that is a party of a sequel. Brilliant 👏
these are the best videos you‘ve done and i love it keep going bro !!!
3 other storytelling songs that I think are some of his best:
Brain Damage
Murder, murder
Just the two of us / 97 bonnie & clyde
Em is the Edgar Allen Poe, the Elvis, of our generation. His true fans are Ride or die. His music is a reflection of our lives. The ups the downs. When we needed an escape.
💪🏾Another One! Fire Stevie🔥🔥🔥
Thank you for showcasing his abilities during this series as well as b4, i just think it’s totally crazy that’s it’s needed. But it’s 100% needed, keep up the good works. I just cannot understand all the hate………… you cannot denny talent even if it’s not your wine
I enjoy this Stevie.. keep bring us fire materials
You could also add Bully, The Sauce, The Reunion, Legacy, Guilty Conscience, Love Game, Those Kinda Nights, I Need a Doctor, Stepdad, 8 Mile, and Run Rabbit Run just to name a few.
It's not even a question OF COURSE HE IS
I never met him n I feel I know him he brought me on a journey from day one with HIS own story
Never mind stories like Stan, mosh, Darkness
The man is a savage
I'm commenting before watching the whole video. I hope Darkness is on the list. Two stories at the same time is something I haven't seen anyone else do. Shady did it so well too.
Haha love at how at the end Stevie had the biggest fckn epiphany. Like he just realized how many layers there was to the song and how much content he give just off that one|two songs shit to comp
Bruh i deadass star working a half time to join stevie's patreon
Thank you, for these highlights of Em"s songs !!!
Horrorcore is a genre in hiphop goes way back. Pioneered by old school rappers such as geto boyz cool keith tech n9ne insane clown pose. It is not as mainstream as other subgenres of hiphop. The same way some people enjoy realistic movies and comedies while others enjoy horrors and thrillers the same goes for music. EM is a hiphop head and has a certain knowledge on serial killers and why not draw inspiration from it. Music box is definitely up there, it really draws you in that creepy world of a demented serial killer. Plus his flow and rhyme patterns go bananas on the joint.
Such great song choices to highlight!
the song 8Mile on the 8Mile album, is story telling,
If I had,
Rock Bottom.
Great songs.
When I am gone,
Toy Soldiers,
Stepping Stone.
And many more
