  • Maruti Suzuki has just updated the XL6, their 2022 MUV with a hint of premiumness added to the utility tag. The XL6 packs in a 1.5-litre petrol engine that boasts of dual jet and variable valve timing. Making it a more refined and efficient engine. Performance is a healthy 103PS and 137Nm. There’s also a more modern 6-speed gearbox added in as an option to replace the antiquated 4-speed which has long since been on its last legs. The ventilated seats, new infotainment interface, and connected car tech do improve the in cabin experience. But the changes, all of them, are more of an incremental nature than revolutionary change. Still they do come together to make the XL6 better.
    Is it the one car to meet all your needs? Something that can commute, pack in the whole family on weekends and take on a rough and tough road trip? And how has the pricing changed? We answer all these questions and more.

    This XL6 is spot on , the 6 speed TC has put it back in contention ....This XL6 is practical for older parents who are chauffer driven, but leather seats get really hot when parked out in summer and that rules out both the higher variants. The base variant with cloth seats seems to be the better option but it does not get IR cut windows.A little more engine power would be good but easy improvements can be made with IR cut windows on all variants and Ventilated option for second row capitans chairs with leather.

    We are slowly entering in the most chaotic transition in automotive industry where fule vehicles are getting expensive along with fule and ev in the starting phase don't make any sense for the cost which we pay over fule vehicles and getting 300-400 km range that get reduced on highway speeds 🙂and taking 8-10 hour to charge .

    • @ameyabenz
      @ameyabenz 2 года назад +3

      Many companies are moving away from diesel engines now because, in a few years, cars will be switched to battery, CNG and petrol. VW is also going to stop the production of diesel engines. In India, cars are used at least for 5 years. Keeping this aspect in mind (that in the recent future there won't be resale value for diesel engines) MS is already shifting to petrol/CNG engines only. It matters to MS coz they are the one with the highest resale market in India.

    My XL6 vehicle had multiple issues - OC volve failed after 10000 Kms ran...i was in trichy with maruti service dealer, they couldnt find out , finally i escalated to Maruti to fix it urgently, it was just 1 year old car that time...after that i have break noise issue, I went to bangalore dealer whom i purchased from, they couldnt figure out where the noise coming from , fixed on trial and error method, so far it is fine - i am afraid what else would break within 2 yrs warranty period - i guess Maruti XL6 QC is not doing good job , so better to get Ertiga

    Adding extra 2 air bags doesn't instill confidence unless and until maruti works on structural integrity of the car and the interior more or less remains the same , but the gripe is it's auto gear box, I expected a significant improvement from 6 speed auto, atleast kia carens offered multiple power trains with modern day features and elements. There is a lot to be desired for the asking price

    xl6 check these before buying
    I am an actual user and purchases xl6 a month back. Car is good in its segment however I must point out the following for users to check first before buying 1. Brake is applied too low on the pedal and seems unreliable and irritating. The workshop says its a manufacturing feature and they cannot do anything about it. 2. Car pulls to left if steering is straight, again the workshop seems to be clueless. Alignment done twice already, no improvement. I'm being asked to come the third time. Not sure if will help. Seems like a manufacturing defect. 3. Rear Camera (accessory in base model which I have, equipment in other two models is hazy and half the screen is occupied by bumper and name plate view, and one inch top space of screen is occupied by safety text, the remaining view is hazy and not long distant 4. The front windshield wipers are sized and positioned such that when they are used they leave a big triangle area unwiped at the bottom of the windshield. It is irritating and unsafe. Car is a good drive and gives good mileage for its price, however these few things are always making the user anxious

    it's a good package for the city if one needs more space and has 5 passengers or children/ parents to travel with. But I am not sure about long distance or highway travel with that very very conservatively tuned drivetrain. Add the safety concerns and this is certainly not something you'd want to take risks with while overtaking etc on undivided roads. So yeah, a good option for the city. But better to increase the budget and look elsewhere for long distance travel.

    Ertiga & XL6 are two different types of cars, in terms of their looks, characters and feel. So it is not understandable why don't they provide a seven seat option in XL6!! There should be a bench seat option in the second row and Maruti should definitely think over that immediately.
